guyser Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 Yea, but I am a Huntsville guy so ya know.....pffft to Bracebridge. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 I'm surprised by now they haven't expanded and grown together to form one big town. We could have Braceville, or Huntsbridge. Maybe not, but you'd probably end up with a hell of a hockey team! Quote
guyser Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 Still plenty of space between the two. Bracebridge has grown towards Port Carling, not too much north , while Huntsville has grown in leaps and bounds east and north. Hville is more successful now , Bracebridge has suffered for some reason. But you do have a great Mayor . Known him for years and hes a hard worker. Funny enough, neother town can support anything more than a Junior C team. (or less) Both have lost teams due to disinterest. Not enough population Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 Back in my day the old BB Bears were a pretty tough team. I think I still have the bruises. Quote
jacee Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Doug Ford is ruining his own political career by continually lying about his brother: http://www.torontosun.com/2014/06/06/ford-had-muscle-spasms-but-wasnt-intoxicated-as-newly-released-report-suggests TORONTO - Mayor Rob Ford had another intoxicated night at City Hall on Easter Monday, according to a newly released security report. But Councillor Doug Ford claimed Friday the mayor wasnt intoxicated that night. He had muscle spasms in his legs but that is about as far as I saw, Ford told the Toronto Sun. But the security guard said: The mayor appeared to be intoxicated as he was slurring his words, red in the face, and sweating profusely. And it seems Doug would be more useful in the family business: http://ww2.nationalpost.com/m/wp/blog.html?b=news.nationalpost.com/2014/06/04/ford-family-business-a-nightmare-since-doug-handed-managerial-control-to-randy-ex-employees-say Edited June 6, 2014 by jacee Quote

Black Dog Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Come on jacee old news. Wait until he returns and does something stupid. Yeah, it's been weeks since the mayor has done something that would have a normal politician stepping down in disgrace GIVE HIM A CHANCE. Quote
jacee Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Come on jacee old news. Wait until he returns and does something stupid. Rob being drunk/drugged Easter Monday may be old news, but Doug lying about it once again is recent. Stupid really ... since Rob has already admitted to his addictions and gone to rehab, why would Doug lie about it now? I think Doug is a large part of Rob's problem. He should go back to selling labels where he's needed. . Quote

Black Dog Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Ford poll numbers at all time low The latest Forum Research poll says the Toronto mayor’s approval rating has reached a historic low, his support continuing to drop as he remains absent from the campaign trail while receiving treatment in a rehab facility. Based on an automated telephone survey of 944 randomly selected Torontonians, conducted June 6, the poll found that only 28 per cent of respondents approved of Ford, the lowest the firm had recorded since he was elected in 2010. The poll suggests he is “no longer a contender in any of the tested mayoral matchups.” Mayoral candidate John Tory led the approval ratings with 68 per cent, followed by Olivia Chow at 64 per cent; David Socknacki sits at 54 per cent and Karen Stinz at 48 per cent. As to how the respondents say they’d vote, in a five-way race, Chow wins with 38 per cent, followed by Tory with 28 per cent, Ford with 20 per cent, Socknacki at 5 per cent and Stinz at 4 per cent. Out of sight out of mind? Quote

Shady Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Maybe you should give Doug a lie detector. I don't need to. Because whether his brother was drunk three months ago, isn't really news, or at all signficant, seeing as though there were incidents of drunkeness since when. Quote

On Guard for Thee Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Well it's planned as a comedy (what else could it be) so it has the potential of "art imitating life" as they say. Maybe they can have a bluescreen backdrop with a few exerpts of the boy dancing around in council, or staggering around a fast food joint mocking Jamaicans. But yeah, I probably wouldn't pay. Quote

Topaz Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 I was watching the news at noon, on a Detroit station, and the two guys were telling about Rob Ford and the musical and they were laughing about Ford look-alike singing and they wondered if he would be on crack. At the end, one guy said he was sorry to the people in Windsor to have a mayor like Ford in Toronto. Quote

And do we really need lectures on mayors from Detroit? They bankrupted the city. Kwame Kilpatrick anyone? Quote
