Mighty AC Posted July 22, 2014 Author Report Posted July 22, 2014 Yeah that's great! I like the Pixies style he chose for that one too. I also dig the one video per day release approach he used. GostHacked Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 Weird Al is back with some new parodies but this one, in particular, is outstanding. Send that off to our member socialist. Gammar does not matter right?? Had the pleasure of seeing him live once. Great experience, a true performer/entertainer. Quote
GostHacked Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 I like this one: MC Frontalot did it first. Quote

I have to admit, most of his videos post about 1990 I hardly know which artist he’s spoofing…..but still very humorous in my view. Quote
Derek 2.0 Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 MC Frontalot did it first. I think I prefer Weird Al's version....that one reminded me of Pac-Man Quote

WestCoastRunner Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 This is great! Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou
Mighty AC Posted September 3, 2014 Author Report Posted September 3, 2014 I always like that video, back in the day. Mighty AC Posted September 3, 2014 Author Report Posted September 3, 2014 One of my favourite bands is the Tea Party, who are set to release a new album next week. However, the album can be streamed this week from the TSN site. http://www.tsn.ca/bardown/Story.aspx?Stream%2bThe%2bTea%2bParty%27s%2bFirst%2bNew%2bAlbum%2bIn%2b10%2bYears%2b&id=460900 Quote "Our lives begin to end the day we stay silent about the things that matter." - Martin Luther King Jr"Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities" - Voltaire
Moonlight Graham Posted September 9, 2014 Report Posted September 9, 2014 The Tea Party are fantastic band, one of Canada's all-time best. I saw them live a couple of years ago when they did their comeback shows. Here's one of my fav songs (not one of the obvious ones, which are also great), love the killer riff at the 3:00 minute mark: Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.
Mighty AC Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 The River is one of their best; they still kick off most of their shows with it. Hard to believe they created Splendor Solis as teens. The world music influences and the lyrical themes just sound like they should come from much older musicians. Quote "Our lives begin to end the day we stay silent about the things that matter." - Martin Luther King Jr"Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities" - Voltaire
Mighty AC Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 Here is a solid interview with Jack White and Hotel Yorba; the song that attracted me to the Stripes and probably still my favourite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8u6odW8pdQ#t=1289 Quote "Our lives begin to end the day we stay silent about the things that matter." - Martin Luther King Jr"Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities" - Voltaire
Mighty AC Posted September 20, 2014 Author Report Posted September 20, 2014 I played the hell out of this track back in the day...but just heard it again. Still solid. kimmy Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) This song was an international #1 hit last year, but I just heard it today for the first time: This genre of music is not usually my thing, but I quite liked this. It's minimalist, with the pleasing vocals being the whole show. MEANWHILE! The Kongos brothers invade my radio from the other end of the musical spectrum! This song makes me want to knock stuff over; it's propulsive and manic and sounds unlike anything else on the radio. -k Edited September 20, 2014 by kimmy Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
cybercoma Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 How the heck did you not here that song for a year? That's the thing with pop music. They bombard you with it everywhere. Quote
