Why should we hate Nazis?
Moonlight Graham replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nazis and commies suck hard. -
This is part of the housing market (supply and demand). if the GTA becomes unaffordable then people will be forced to move to other cities in Canada, which is a good thing, especially considering that population growth is coming from immigration. All immigration going to Vancouver or Toronto while other cities and small towns shrivel and die would be bad for Canada. What is killing housing in this country is people buying up many homes for investment properties and not living in them. This must be stopped, but politicians won't do it because many have their own investments and they don't want to PO homeowners and investors. But its one of the few ways you can reduce housing costs. We're building a 2-tier country of rich homeowners and the rest who are renters of homes. And the young who do buy a home have their standard of living destroyed for their working careers just paying their mortgage, not to mention all the savings their parents have earned is going into helping them buying their home.

Because if you criticize Trump then they assume you're a lefty, but they assume wrong. The world isn't black and white so why should I think that way? I don't kiss anyone's feet, and everyone is open to criticism, especially anyone with power over us. I'm not a partisan or a sheep. I've been far more critical of Trudeau the last 10 years (Canada's worst ever PM) than i've been of Trump or PP or Harper. So what does that make me? Also, a conservative (there's many) might agree on different general issues Trump is trying to fix but disagree on the way he's doing it sometimes. I'm conservative on numerous issues, other's i'm not, so I don't label myself as anything. For instance, I think illegal immigrants should be held accountable by the law and be deported if they don't belong unless they're of economic use to the US and are invited to stay because it benefits the country. No migrant should get to decide alone whether they get to stay in a foreign country, that's up to the country they want to migrate to. I have no sympathy for people who don't obey the law and then cry victim when they're caught. No way most Mexicans would support improvished Africans or Indians etc to flood into their country illegally.

Apple to bend the knee

Wouldn't machines make semiconductors mostly? I dunno. A lot of it is the advanced technical know-how and the facilities and software from what I gather in order to make advanced chip manufacturing. -
Texas Redistricting
Moonlight Graham replied to gatomontes99's topic in State Politics in the United States
Last fall Texans voted 56% for Trump and 49% for GOP federal congressmen in the House of Reps. 7% difference isn't insignificant and can easily sway an election. I already posted the numbers from last fall's election where the GOP in Texas won more seats than the % of voters that voted GOP in the state (10% gap). If the numbers went the other way maybe there'd be an argument, but there's literally no problem here whatsoever for the GOP, other than Trump and Texas GOP wanting to rig more seats in their favour so they can control the House overall. That's what fascism looks like. -
Summertime is "fire season in Lytton" - Hilarious
Moonlight Graham replied to cougar's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The amount of fires right now in Sask-MB-western Ontario is insane. We're lucky there aren't more people who live in those areas, but a lot of fires are on native reserves. I don't know how they even breathe right now. We need to massively scale up our forest fighting abilities nationwide. I've never seen anything like this in my lifetime. Southern Califonia is obviously far more populated so the human damage is bad, but the scale and # of fires can't be even remotely close. To top it off, the fires are releasing a ton of CO2 so if this is a regular or annual thing this is bad. -
Texas Redistricting
Moonlight Graham replied to gatomontes99's topic in State Politics in the United States
Voting for the president isn't the same as voting for your congressman in the House of Reps. It shouldn't be a factor. And who people happen to vote for should have absolutely nothing to do with the borders of their voting district, because it leads to gerrymandering. The only thing that matters is if the population of the districts are roughly equal and the borders aren't constructed or redrawn for partisan purposes. -

I asked Grok to do a deep search on which party does the most gerrymandering at the federal level: -

The US has a midterm election next year for the House of Reps that will control Emperor Trump's ability to get any laws passed in his last 2 years in office. -
Texas Redistricting

The GOP got 58.4% of the vote for the House in Texas in 2024 but won 65.8% of the House seats. Trump is trying to steal another election. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections_in_Texas -
You old farts are destroying Canada
Moonlight Graham replied to paxamericana's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Donald's threats have only made Canada stronger and more resolved. Maybe next time a POTUS visits Parliament our politicians will do less fawning and instead will hold our heads high without any regard for what any American leader thinks of us. And maybe the wives of our leaders will choose to stay home because they just DGAF. I assume we'll see you on the front lines and not hiding behind a keyboard? -
So you have nothing. Carry on.

LOL. Verify the facts then. Yes I am attacking the source. Info coming from governments during times of war is not to be trusted on its face without evidence, especially when they're fighting a global PR battle among their financier countries. You've provided no evidence to back their claims, just propaganda tweets. I'm not even saying they're wrong, I'm just saying the source is not objective therefore we have no idea if their claims are true when they have every motivation to bend the truth.
-
It's propaganda because by definition that's exactly what it is. The Israeli government isn't an objective source on how much aid is getting into Gaza, and neither is Hamas. They're pumping out selectively curated info and videos in order to influence public perception. Here's the definition of propaganda: If you have an actual objective source that has some kind of credibility on how much aid is getting in then please post it. If you have evidence that their data is accurate please post it. No i'm not doing your research for you, and i'm certainly not taking the Israeli government's word for it that their data is accurate. Have fun spinning that like you love to do.
-
Some carts with food on them proves what exactly? There's 2 million people in Gaza. Is the food even getting to them? And how much? Stop posting government propaganda videos and show some actual data.
-
Well, Israel has at times been using the denial of food aid as a negotiation tactic. There's probably at least some war crimes happening, like in many wars. Also, explain this: https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2025-06-27/ty-article-magazine/.premium/idf-soldiers-ordered-to-shoot-deliberately-at-unarmed-gazans-waiting-for-humanitarian-aid/00000197-ad8e-de01-a39f-ffbe33780000 https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/6/27/israeli-soldiers-ordered-to-shoot-at-unarmed-gaza-aid-seekers-report

COGAT is a unit run by Israel's Ministry of Defense. Their twitter posts are propaganda.
-
If you want you can find evidence for Israel starving and shooting Gazans and you can find evidence for Israel providing lots of food aid. There's so much "news" pushing different "facts" and narratives out there that I really don't know what to believe anymore, and a lot of journalists/aid organizations and even the UN are filled with people with their own political biases. However, given the France, UK, and Canadian governments, plus even Trump have expressed great concern about the food/famine situation in Gaza i'd wager the situation isn't good there.
