  1. The FCC is now pooping on freedom of the press and creating viewpoint requirements before media company mergers can go through.
  2. You're right. If only a fascist will do the things the people actually want then the people will vote for a fascist.
  3. On what grounds would the Canadian government deny him the ability to work in Canada like any other law-abiding American musician? You think the feds should ban all Americans who may have been Trump voters or doctrine-following Christians? You're nuts.
  4. Yes it is. The Charter of Rights & Freedoms: Hate-speech has a very high bar legally. Christians expressing opinions that are pro-life and against gender transition surgery or gay marriage should not be subject to hate speech laws, unless they're threatening violence or something else obviously criminally serious against those groups whose behaviours they oppose. Also, there's MAGA Canadians in Canada. There's no laws outlawing pro-Trump opinions in Canada, nor should there be. This shouldn't be a left or right issue, it's an issue about government censorship and free speech rights and religious rights. I think Trump is a POS but banning some MAGA lover from performing at a public venue is government overreach. They used the public safety excuse (heckler's veto) because they know they can't ban the guy for his speech.
  5. By international law passed by the UN General Assembly? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Partition_Plan_for_Palestine This ignores all the conflict in Mandatory Palestine prior to 1948. There was also hardly any Jews (about 10-15,000) remaining in Palestine prior to the start of Zionism in the 19th century. Also, Arab nations attacked Israel immediately upon its declaration of dependence in 1948, not in response to violence by the state of Israel. The creation of Israel was done via legal resolutions passed by the UN General Assembly.
  6. The same people that think the Democrats stole the election in 2020 are the same kind of people who believe Noah's Ark actually existed. Don't believe everything the preacher-man tells you.
  7. When you lie to the people about an election being stolen and then get your lawyers to scheme up a plot to overturn that democratic election you're a dictator. When your own hand-picked Vice President won't go along with the unconstitutional plot and then you accuse him of being a "traitor" for it you're a dictator. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_fake_electors_plot
  8. Jews and Judaism are indigenous to Israel/Palestine. Arabs and Islam are not. Their imperial armies invaded and conquered Palestine around 640 CE. Israel/Palestine is filled with the ancient buildings, cities, religious sites built by Jews over millennia. You could say the same for the Arab Muslims that have lived in Israel/Palestine the last 1400 years. This makes things much more complicated than what you're letting on. Given that Germany, Europe, America, Canada, etc were antisemitic towards them, it's easy to understand why Jews wanted their own country in their historical homeland. Arab leaders specifically refused the creation of any Israeli state under any borders because they wanted to maintain the Islamic imperial control of the area that the Ottoman Empire etc had. It would be like Canada refusing any self-determination of indigenous peoples on their lands and reserves etc in Canada and wanting to maintain full control, and then attacking indigenous communities when they wanted self-determination. We used to behave like the Arabs do towards indigenous but we've moved beyond that thankfully.
  9. Trump is a fascist. He's not Hitler, but he's a fascist. The only thing constraining him right now are the courts and the constitution. If he had his way he would have overturned the 2020 election results and tried his best to do that, and I certainly wouldn't put it past him to remove term limits too if he could. If 76% of GOP members voted for him in the primaries last year, which means a lot of them are fascists too. I assume a bunch of them aren't fascists but just believed his con-job about the "the steal" etc, so they're more naive and stupid than fascist. I asked Grok the characteristics of a fascist leader. Here you go, he fits every one, besides military expansionism, he's more into coercive economic measures for expansionist goals:
  10. The Republican Party are fascists. Trump got 76% of the vote among members of the GOP nationwide during the 2024 GOP primaries.
  11. What's the difference between giving Israel a piece of Mandatory Palestine vs a piece of Germany? I doubt the native Germans would want to live in Israel on their own land as much as Palestinian Muslims don't. Western allies + USSR defeated and occupied Germany after WWII, just like Western allies defeated and occupied the Ottoman Empire (including Palestine) after WWI.
  12. Most Palestinians and most Muslim leaders don't want a 2-state solution, they want a 1-state solution ruled by Muslims and the destruction of Israel, and this has been what they've wanted for the last 80 years. The Canadian and France governments are fools. They have incentivized the Oct 7 attacks and made further terrorist attacks more likely. All a Palestinian state will do is give jihadists more of a platform to attack Israel from and more rights to import weapons to do so. There will be no peace until Israel is destroyed. The proper response from western countries is help defend Israel from their attackers while holding both Israel and Palestinian governments accountable to international law.
  13. LOL so you're saying the official doctrines of the Catholic Church (anti-abortion/gay marriage/gender-affirming surgery etc) are now hate-crimes and shouldn't be allowed to be spoken in public venues in Canada?
  14. The leftists switched from class struggle to identity politics because they couldn't defeat capitalism, but they can bully people including politicians and businesses into submission by accusing them of being racist, sexist etc if they don't do and say the right thing.
  15. I also said: "...and holding up corporate mergers of media companies waiting for guarantees to reduce the political slants of some of their shows because the criticize the POTUS."
  16. They didn't self-deport, they just left. They said they were in the country legally as they had gone to a border crossing and applied for asylum, which was still in process. I'm not sure why this is newsworthy.
  17. You asked where I got the info from and I directly answered your question with a link from a news source and direct quotes from the link.
  18. I asked Grok for the signs of an authoritarian government. Which apply to Canada? Which to the US right now? Suppression of Political Opposition: Opposition parties are banned, harassed, or marginalized. Political rivals are imprisoned, exiled, or silenced through intimidation. Elections, if held, are manipulated to ensure the ruling party’s victory (e.g., voter suppression, ballot stuffing, or media control). Restriction of Free Speech and Press: Censorship of media outlets, including state control or shutdown of independent news organizations. Journalists face harassment, imprisonment, or violence for critical reporting. Internet access may be restricted, with heavy surveillance of online activity. Erosion of Civil Liberties: Limits on freedom of assembly, protest, or association. Use of excessive force by police or military to suppress demonstrations. Widespread surveillance of citizens, often justified as "national security." Centralized Control and Weakened Checks and Balances: Concentration of power in the hands of a single leader or small group. Judiciary and legislative branches are undermined, controlled, or packed with loyalists. Constitutional changes to extend term limits or grant unchecked powers to the leader. Propaganda and State-Controlled Narratives: Government dominates public discourse through state-run media or propaganda campaigns. Alternative viewpoints are discredited as "fake news" or "foreign interference." Cult of personality around the leader, portraying them as infallible or indispensable. Use of Fear and Repression: Secret police or paramilitary groups enforce loyalty and punish dissent. Arbitrary arrests, torture, or disappearances of perceived enemies. Policies stoke fear of external or internal "threats" to justify authoritarian measures. Economic Control and Cronyism: State control over key industries, often benefiting loyalists or elites. Widespread corruption, with resources funneled to regime supporters. Economic policies prioritize regime stability over public welfare. Manipulation of National Identity: Exploitation of nationalism, religion, or cultural identity to unify support and demonize opponents. Marginalization or persecution of minority groups as scapegoats. Historical revisionism to glorify the regime or its leader. Weak Rule of Law: Laws are applied selectively, favoring regime allies while targeting opponents. Legal protections for individuals are ignored or dismantled. Security forces operate with impunity, often above the law. Control Over Education and Culture: Curricula rewritten to align with regime ideology. Cultural institutions (e.g., arts, museums) are co-opted to serve state narratives. Intellectuals and academics face censorship or persecution for challenging the regime.
  19. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/07/24/fcc-greenlights-skydance-paramount-cbs-00476030 An $8 billion merger between Skydance Media and Paramount Global received regulatory approval Thursday from the Federal Communications Commission in a deal that has raised alarm about free speech and government intrusion into the media. Chair Brendan Carr said in announcing the approval that Skydance had agreed to address Trump administration concerns about what it sees as media bias at the CBS network. Skydance committed to adopt measures to “root out” media bias that had undermined trust in the news media, Carr said. “I welcome Skydance’s commitment to make significant changes at the once storied CBS broadcast network,” Carr said. “In particular, Skydance has made written commitments to ensure that the new company’s programming embodies a diversity of viewpoints from across the political and ideological spectrum.”
  20. Every post-WWII generation is very selfish, starting with the baby boomers and increasing with each generation.
