  1. They claim that neutrality is an illusion, and their cite is... Jesus. I think that small l liberalism is a stronger shaping force, and that religion is a brief 5,000 years long fad.
  2. You don't think that people are getting sick of the clown show? Clown number one doesn't seem to get attention anymore, tariff threats for example.
  3. 1. We have a new technology culture that we could leverage to solve collective problems Nobody does. Instead they use it to gather the wagons with people who are like them. Hopefully our precarious situation with trade will get Carney and Poilievre to be serious about politics, and move away from the identity politics that goes nowhere.
  4. 1. Good questions, and I don't know. Probably call them different terms for different countries I suppose. In Canada it's Liberal vs Conservative, and in the US Repub vs Dem ? 2. I feel like the system did compromise naturally then, because both sides believed in it more than now.
  5. 1. I'm helping. Pointing out unclarity and passing the baton back. 2. You're welcome. 3. I'm helping. Pointing out unclarity and passing the baton back. 4. I don't know what the poster meant. Pointing out unclarity and passing the baton back. 5. I'm a conservative. Crackho hates me, for example. You're welcome.
  6. Well it IS obvious but the question of compromise is something that everyone should consider, not just the "left" - which is a term I dispute. If you admit that Trumpism is something very new, his approach to politics and his political persona - then compromise would definitely be required from adherents of that ideology.
  7. From Google AI :Caucasian is a largely outdated, racial classification term historically used to describe people of European, Middle Eastern, and North African descent So you would include the Arab occupation of Europe I suppose ... or ... uh ... Huns ... not sure
  8. It's always a trade-off and also subject to the priorities, strategies of the man in the WH
  9. 1. It's your OPINION that it's dumb. 2. I just felt your comment needed some missing information. My dog died in 1978.
  10. Why not ? I AM white so it's politically OK to make fun of my own people. That's how it works with these things... people tend to not be offended that way.... Ha ha. Sense of humour and so on....
  11. She said "stolen land" "no one is illegal" Seems like an opinion. Like it or don't.... or... get outraged and kick the ottoman I suppose...
  12. Is it ever moral or immoral to worry ? I don't think I would use those words to describe worry. Your feelings with regards to your race/background are, I suspect, very context-dependent, personal, subjective etc. etc. Pretty hard to criticize an Orthodox Jew, a Black Woman at MIT, a white fisherman... for how they feel about that, or to look at it rationally at all... let alone apply a moral framework. In short: white people are snowflakes, leave them be !
  13. Virtue Signalling as a concept only seems to work for people who don't share your values. People never seem to accuse those they agree with of Virtue Signalling.
  14. A bit of a quibble here, but I do think the president has more influence over gas prices than groceries.. I don't think common sense policies have much to do with it, but clandestine political deals with Saudi Qatar and so on do. Right now he's got gas prices and the stock market in his favor, but it seems like people believed his promises of making things much much better.... And I don't see that happening soon.
  15. I want you to note something: I myself have NOT counted him out. All good points.
  16. I don't think a Canadian would say that, except for the true believers...
  17. https://www.natesilver.net/p/trump-approval-ratings-nate-silver-bulletin Seems so:
  18. Nostradamaugust....
  19. We're still talking about it 😂
  20. I'm talking about the judgment, not a warrant. I have formed an opinion on this matter, but it would be changed by a judgment. The opinion is formed by my hearing Trump's call to find votes, which appears to be interference. And the defense of his behavior by his admirers doesn't sway me.
  21. I firmly believe nothing will come of this if a real judge gets to look at it.
  22. So the fact that a Republican Governor did not see a cause for an investigation means... What then? The FBI is now stacked with Trump loyalists, but there now we have finally arrived at objectivity right? I still have faith in the system, and I firmly believe nothing will come of this if a real judge gets to look at it.
  23. Makes no sense. The FBI just flips back and forth between conspiracies? Every time I read this stuff, it strikes me that it's really absorbed by people who've never worked in large organizations and bureaucracies.
