  1. Now that we have a hardline US government, things should be changing right ? Or ... not .... See, since these problems are more difficult to solve than an idealogue will tell you, they will just point the finger of blame elsewhere when they get power: the cities, the states. Fuel the anger... find more fuel... Trump says he was saddened to hear Renée Good's parents were big Trump supporters. It makes sense, because the death of a US citizen wouldn't be expected to sadden him if they were Democrats. Just some random thoughts here...
  2. Capital punishment is not a deterrent... The USA has capital punishment, and a higher murder rate than We do.
  3. Eventually the furnace... That is stoked by anger will grow cold.. How does having federal police shoot protesters in Minnesota help the USA? MAGA supporters might be asking themselves that now. Trump's polling is really about the worst of his one year in office at this point. He's trying everything. Even invading countries, firing his minions.. Nothing is getting better.
  4. Political identity as fashion is one of the most sellable things. Divide and conquer... People get downright livid when I tell them my politics, and it doesn't mesh with theirs.
  5. Great post, but I quibble the past bit: Small l liberalism seems to be the strongest and most transformative force. ...... Above is the recipe for a great Church & State Upside Down Cake 🍰
  6. I agree, but numbers do tell a story. Look at the state of the middle class, 1965 to present.
  7. I do not understand this. Explain it to me like I'm 30.
  8. True enough. That would be a perspective. But things DO change, and our institutions are designed to accommodate it. Are individual conservatives resistant to change? Of course.
  9. First things first though: when are we going to get the Jews to face accountability for the crucifixion huh???
  10. Not true of my Father who grew up in the glory days of the Leafs, then betrayed his team when he married a "French" girl. He got more championships that way.
  11. You just said conservatives don't march in lock step, and now you're telling me what to do, how to act. There's a word for that behavior and it's not conservative.
  12. 1. I don't think everyone who supports trans rights is a culture warrior, though. Do you ? 2. It seems you want to talk about details of implementations. That may mean that we generally agree on the larger framework and don't have much to discuss. Maybe you don't have issues with objective reality after all. 3. Yes I am pushing that. 4. Is it ? I would think the overall definition is a bigger problem. I'm not playing coy. I don't think I have come out strong on the details of how such things are implemented. If you don't think the overall framework or definition is a problem we may agree after all. 5. Well a lot of people seem to think that I can't be conservative because I support trans rights (overall). I guess you're not one of them. 6. Not games. I'm answering all your questions here aren't I ? We're learning some stuff too. Why do you think Leftists can't be Chuds ? You don't know my friends.... An Outfit called Natural News (as lefty and hippy as it reads, for sure) used to be all about the anti-vax, WiFi causing cancer, etc. etc. They were Leftist Chuds AFAIC. I'll get to your note later, it's rather long.
  13. 1. Well God bless you. Then YES I push trans "ideology", which you define as supporting trans rights. 2. Yeah, but your reply to #1 has opened my eyes to the possibility that you may be in favour of objective reality. That's quite something. 3. That is TBD. I don't accept all of them... there are myriad that are proposed, I'm sure. But I am ok with the 'principle'. They have it for protections based on colour, creed etc. Things like housing protection, employment protection, etc. Bathrooms... and sports... I don't care about but in practical terms I favour tolerane and community peace-making. So I generally support bathroom access based on how you look, and would rather not have bathroom laws but maybe folks want that locally. Who knows... 4. What % would have to have voted in favour for you to accept that conservatives can be in favour of trans rights ? This is an honest question. We have #2 conservative under Harper and now the #2 under Poilievre who's a wifed-up Lesbian... these are keystones in the CPC. So can we just move past that then ? What if we said SOME conservatives support trans rights. 5. You want to make the argument about specific issues that it's much easier to debate on. I don't have a strong opinion on sports. Should a 20 year old muscled up male-gendered man who calls themselves a WOMAN be able to box against a genetic woman ? Seems like a dumb question to me but we should let the smaller jurisdictions decide these things first to see if it's a problem. 6. Awww... now I'm a crying clown, given how much progress we have made in this discussion here. You throw around terms like 'ran away' but you know... I don't HAVE to talk to you. When a bum on the street asks me if I have a dime sometimes I don't answer either. Anyway, pretty good chat, *** 3 stars... would chat again... Those are christians AFAIC
  14. It's a strange idea and people are repelled by it. They find it ugly. So be it. Freedom is ugly sometimes. Go watch Easy Rider. Those were two conservatives on motorbikes. Most people today don't understand freedom.
  15. 1. So you push anti-trans ideology. By your definition "push" means hold and support a position, argue for it... and obfuscate - as seen by opponents. 2. I just explained myself very well. You push yourself as being omniscient, you don't accept my explanations and obfuscate... say I didn't answer. 3. Legal protections as defined in law. We have these at the constitutional level in Canada and the US I believe. 4. What data ? You mean which conservatives support transgender protection under law ? 38 Conservative MPs voted in favour in 2016, which I think included Harper's #2 https://www.hilltimes.com/story/2024/02/29/lantsman-calls-poilievres-comments-on-trans-women-the-position-of-the-conservative-party/413442/
  16. On Christianity: Who are the people who stand outside death row prisons holding candles, praying for the condemned. Those are Christians. My elderly mother did this... my parents were Christian liberals who taught tolerance for all genders, sexual preferences, religions... who lamented the anti-semitism of the Catholic Church that they grew up with. I am a Christian Agnostic. Fight me ... but of course I will turn the other cheek
  17. 1. God no. What conservative would put institutions through the grinder for his own enrichment ? He WAS a kind of NYC Democrat one upon a time but he seems to be unprincipled. He's the king of the Chuds, to my mind. Is he actually a Chud ? I don't think he stands for anything. Lots of conservatives on here have spoken against Trump - Groot, Argus, and quiet disagreement on his methods from Bush_Cheney but you have to look for it. 2. Maybe. Like I say, there are women with penises now. The current and past #2 conservatives in Canada believed that. But people who don't accept transgender people tend to squirm as through they'd actually kissed a guy in a dress if you ask. I guess the meaning of the word may have changed when I wasn't looking. Just like Christian now seems to mean someone who hates foreigners in some quarters.
  18. 1. You sure do. "Push" means I hold an opinion that I didn't run by you first, I guess. 2. "throw around" "push" ... you really like to coat your wordings with damning hues... oh well 3. So... you know my intentions ... again .... I forgot about your mind reading abilities... 4. Lots of minority groups deserve additional protection. I won't say "you know it" because I don't read minds and you may not be aware of it..> 5. I don't know if you are playing, it just seems that way. One question - are you aware that actual CONSERVATIVES support protection for transgender people yes/no ?
  19. 1. Why ? Because I don't hate science, universities, the courts, the police... ? 2. 3. Lots are of major conservatives OK with it, yes. If I think trans women deserve protection am I a 'culture warrior' ? 4. You play with the term 'pushing it'... just stop it. You are pushing your labels on me, I'm using old and true definitions. You think a conservative is a fat id1ot in a red hat, for example, then that's your business. Conservative Christians are monkeys ? How DARE you sir ?
  20. 1. Yes, you said: like we use it today. 2. Yes, I am one. Conservatives appreciate institutions such as universities, the courts, scientific community. 3. I'm okay with using the term woman as a social construct. Lots of conservatives are. Yes, we both seem to agree that words change. I think we both feel we should be able to fight for the meaning of words, figuratively of course. I'm a conservative Christian. I will always call a trans woman by whatever pronouns she likes. I'm polite that way. Politeness is a conservative attribute also.
  21. Where did I read that..> "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" Anyway, we are ALL hoping for a peaceful revolution... er resolution... I'm sure.
  22. Are you saying that we should jump onboard when a significant bunch of folks change the definition of something ? How about "woman" ? If 30% if people start saying some women have penises are we all going to be ok with it ? Some conservatives have penises, is my answer to that one.
