Well that's kind of up to the voter and constituent tho. And that's where democracy can run into trouble. If the guy DOESN'T deliver then you have to be willing to kick him out. THen politicians realize it's in their best interest to deliver - that's what keeps them in power. But a lot of people just decide "i'm a democrat for life" or "I'll always vote conservative' or whatever and they will support a bad politician regardless.

More and more what people in north america want from their gov't primarily is less gov't. They don't want the gov't to 'solve' their problems or give them money etc, they want the go'vt to get the hell out of the way and enable them to solve their own problems and make (and keep) their own money. The more socialist idea of 'gov't will take care of us' has proven to work poorly and people are done with it in Canada and the US.

well a bunch of those are very definitely not 'bad luck' but deliberate attempts to attack him for political reasons. Everybody everywhere sees his 'felony bookkeeping' charges as completely made up for political purpose, even in polling. there was no 'rape lawsuit', the jury threw out the rape accusation. The civil "Fraud" case is also seen by everyone as political, if he wasn't trump that would never have happened. Nobody complained the banks and lenders say they didn't rely on that info, they'd lend to him again, all money was paid as per the agreements - it's a nothing case to try to hurt him. So - in reality what's happened is the dems attempted to weaponize the courts and people aren't as stupid as the dems hoped. THat's why despite all of that Trump was already ahead in the polls and possibly gaining still with MASSIVE donations after the absolutely bogus 'felony' conviction that a four year old could see was a joke. Yeah, this is going to be hard to beat. They might appeal it to just keep the ball in the air just in case they can find an angle but honestly it doesn't look great, and coming right after a failed actual assassination attempt it's going to be seen as a failed 'political' assassination attempt in the eyes of many . And if they do appeal it then they'll have to announce it soon but it won't come to the court for ages, so it'll look yet again like democrats going out of their way to attack their political rival, who's already been the butt of pointless lawsuits and criminal charges and even been shot at. it'll just drive even more sympathy and more people into his court. This is just about the worst election ever in the history of elections i think for the dems. This may very well wind up with them doing so badly that they don't win the next election either due to infighting, donor drop off and conflict and as you USUALLY see two terms for a president it could be a very rare case of 3 terms of republicans back to back before the dems get another kick at the can.
