Frankly a significant number of Canadians applauded it. Even recently we have seen that those on the left don't mind people's rights being violated at all as long as it's someone they don't like. For example in the states a large percentage of democrats polled that they believe that the charges against trump were politically motivated. Yet most of those same people polled that they approved of it. Everybody in Canada should have been horrified at the use of the emergency act to suppress protest in what we now know is an unlawful fashion. Yet a stunning number of people absolutely approved of it though we can be sure that most of those people would be quite upset if it was used to repress a group that they approved of. The old phrase "I disagree with what you say but I defend to the death your right to say it" Has gone completely out the window. Now it's more like I disagree with what you say therefore you have no right to say it but I insist that people I like do have that right. On this day in 1914, two great armies which had faced each other with the intention of slaughtering one another in bloody conflict set aside their differences and met in no man's land to exchange gifts, take pictures and even play a few games of football. Despite their politics and their differences and their bitter struggle against one another, they were able to still remember the spirit of eace and harmony and that they were all human beings, even if only for a brief time. The new year is bound to bring endless differences of opinion and conflict and even anger on this forum given the political changes in 2025. No matter how bad it gets, I hope we can remember that spirit of peace and keep it so that things never grow so bad that we can't stop and share a moment together from time to time. It wasn't a particularly tough question. Climate change will be relatively low on the priority list. I have no doubt he'll do something, and whatever it is will be at least as effective or more as what the liberals did considering what they did achieve nothing at all. But the liberals and NDP have managed to turn Canadians away from climate change just being a priority. Funny story, but it turns out people care more about whether or not they have food or shelter then they do about climate change. And seeing as the liberal NDP coalition took that away from them their primarily looking for someone who will give it back. It's a shame that people like you and eyeball didn't push the liberals to do something meaningful about climate change in the 9 years you had. But seeing as you guys didn't care about it I wouldn't expect a conservatives to.
