And the first nations weren't very nice by todays standards back then - practicing slavery and treating women as tradeable chattel just like a horse, and making war on their neighbors and often wiping out or enslaving entire tribes. Again - looking through today's lens they were aweful, but were they really? No, saying colonials were not good people or the like is racist given the subtext of today.

Agreed. I would propose a different theory. I think it'll take a year before those planes are flying in any numbers. I think the US thinks that THIS war will be over by then. I think they're setting up for militarizing Ukraine after this war to be a thorn in russia's side that it can't ignore for years to come and to make ukraine a little more reliant on the US. If it comes time to bargain it also helps. IF a small amount of land is given up then the us can say "sure you sacrifice that, but we'll give you a bunch of these planes and tanks to make sure they can never touch you again and that's great.

Pure communism isn't even possible, pure democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner, and pure capitalism is the end of capitalism - it devolves to a single company that owns everything just like a poker game if you play it long enough. Markets have to have enough regulation, either self regulated or gov't, to be able to ensure that the market remains free and available to all.

THe lowest employees still have jobs they wouldn't have had - and that's still economic activity, But - he has made a LOT of people very wealthy and amazon is a major factor in a number of retirement funds Just as microsoft is.
