The Folly of Ignoring Climate Change
herbie replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No! No! No! By the weekend gas will be $2.50/L And the same lot from there will still cry out how EVs are stoopid. Facts and two by fours to the head don't work on some donkeys. -
Mr Irrelevance spews the same toxic shit again.... By NOT beating them for speaking their own language. By maybe teaching in their own tongue along with ESL By letting them go home on weekends By setting up one rooms schools on reserve. By training some people on reserve to become teacher. By building roads to and from those reserves. By not letting churches do the 'educating'. By not treating them like shit when they interact with 'the white man' By recognizing they are part of "our" culture as much as we are theirs shall I go on?

I'm not arguing the points you made. Just that nobody has the interests of consumers in mind. All you can do is not borrow and hope you get a little more from your savings. Or do something utterly beyond the consideration of 95% and use your money to make more for yourself and not shareholders or employers.

The Folly of Ignoring Climate Change

Hmm. The blackened stumps are about 100m from the cabin's property line. I drove over a Bailey bridge to get to it because the road washed out in the spring. The place we passed to catch the ferry to my sister's was washed away by a hurricane. 600 people died from a heat wave where I grew up. The icefield is like a 4 mile drive from where we used to get on the snow bus... Maybe someone else should pull his head out of his ass instead of YELLING that it's not true. -
US Federal VAT Consumption Sales Tax
herbie replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No it's not 'well known' at all. MOF it's pretty much BS if you believe they 'must' spend more. Spending is entirely discretionary as you decide what you must have vs what what you need. Everyone must spend for what they need to and you're saying it's unfair and the guy who buys a mansion a yacht and a RollsRoyce doesn't deserve to be taxed more than a tenant who buys a Fiat500? PST is a consumption tax and only Alberta and the territories don't have one. And I know of no one that the GST prevented them buying something. -

I don't call people like who think those are the ones 'sucked in' racists. Off their meds, yes..... -
Will Multiculturalism be Canada's Achilles Heel (Downfall)?
herbie replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We happen to be talking about multiculturalism in Canada. So why keep steering things to what other people/religions/governments are doing somewhere else? Simply to maintain the foolish myth that that is exactly who "the gov't them" are courting to emigrate here? I keep running into people who think a plane load of British immigrants are all gonna be WASPs in 2022.... -
US Federal VAT Consumption Sales Tax

and Harper reduced it at what turned out to be the worst possible time and it had zero effect on puchases. So now no one will even think of returning it to 7% when that would be useful As for Hodad, how can you possibly claim a tax on consumption is regressive compared to tax on income? You work to get income, you don't have a choice in the matter. You choose what you buy, you can buy a less expensive item and pay less tax, you can choose not to buy and pay no tax. As you well know, corporate taxes and on excess wealth have been cut and cut over decades so the vast majority of tax is collect from YOU, the working person. As you location is not listed I will assume you're American, born and brainwashed your whole life with absolute hatred of any form of taxation whatsoever. And unaware that they usually start by not applying the tax to necessities, food, clothing, medicine and shelter. Then it's up to you to stop parties left, right or center to creep it onto your heat, light, gas, oil, phone, internet etc. etc. etc. like ALL of them can and will do. I used to live just over the border and was shocked at taxes in Washington State... they were higher and on almost everything compared to BC at the time. -
The Folly of Ignoring Climate Change

This is ridiculous, just a waste of bandwidth degenerated into the same inane 'talking points' from the same crowd of dinosaurs. If you think climate change is not real, or that we shouldn't even try to do something because it's natural, or because someone else isn't doing something - you are one. -
The disgrace lies in the fact their names, dates and causes of death were not recorded, their graves not marked, their parents not told. My dogs and cats got more respect than those poor kids. There has to be recognition of and reconciliation over past injustices.

Then what's the damn problem? If the EFFECT is going to screw us up, you do something about it rather than sit with your thumb up your ass. If 'the asteroid' is coming, you must also think DART was a stupid waste of money too. -
Will Multiculturalism be Canada's Achilles Heel (Downfall)?
herbie replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why waste your breath on those who think multiculturalism is all about religion? Everyday human interaction is not based on what we believe but what you know. As you can see a lot on this forum can't figure that out. Completely unable to distinguish political, religious, or practical ideologies from each other. This country is far better because of the mix of people, as is the USA even if too many of them haven't figured that out yet. And I agree with that except for extremist, fundamentalist comment. That's why I show Christian Ayatollahs no quarter either. -

So Hitler wasn't a racist either then? I mean Jews exist in many colours like everyone else. So hating a group by religion isn't racist by your books. Personally judging false religions and evil ideologies is a point fake Christians normally expose themselves on. So like I said, for the umpteenth time, ditch the preaching. Religion is about the last thing we select immigrants on. That should be clear after the way Canada once treated Komagata Maru and Jews trying to come here before the war. -

Just finished reading about how H2 can be chemically produced using the waste heat from nuclear reactors without electrolysis. Theoretically it could be produced with high temperature geothermal as well. Also worth noting, H2 has almost triple the energy content of LNG per kilogram. -
Well sharkman, the stock markets don't affect my savings or spending only those who invest in it. Joe Average doesn't sink his money into stock, he sinks it into surviving.

Only if you think Krupp ovens must be part of the definition of genocide. It was a concerted effort to extinguish the native culture, not to murder the people.

I'm a nice guy now. I no longer beat my wife.

You can't possibly still believe that. That's what they told us when we were in school, but now they all admit the agenda was to wipe out their culture. They were torn away from their parents like an infant from a crackhead Mom. Teachers told us they were just like Private or militar schools, but no one I know was beaten for speaking Italian or Cantonese among themselves. But there are certain points. I am sick of hearing every candidate and speaker at every public meeting acknowledge it's taking place on such and such territory. The emcee can say that once. And I don't know any local natives referring to N America as Turtle Island, yet CBC seems stuck on that. Maybe if the politicians say it is so, everyone will think it is so like Great Bear Rainforest for Central Coast and Metrotown for Old Orchard in Burnaby. I was also annoyed to hear one of the native leaders refer to mass graves instead of unmarked ones, as if they bulldozed children into a pit like the Einsatzgruppen.

People, he just makes things up in his head like Trump does. The Orange Excreman's lap dogs can just think it's so and therefore it is so, just like their Master does. Of course some drunk guy and Biden can direct the FBI, they just wouldn't do it for Trump because they're run by commies. And everything that's in print is lies run by the Illuminati too. You have to really put in the effort, dig way, way down into the deepest cesspools of the Internet to discover the truth.

Two ways interest rate hikes do help. 1. It stops people from borrowing money they don't have. 2. It gets people to spend money they have in the bank instead. I wish it would make people save money, but 24%+ on credit cards and 1% on a savings account with a minimum balance seems to point out the extra $$ only goes to bankers and no one else.

Sick P.O.S.s are Canadians who support Trump. Either because they hate Canada and Trump did everything he could to shit on us, or because they hate America and he was such an international embarrassment the USA lost all standing and credibility for four years. Either way, not what you'd call a good Canadian.

Will Multiculturalism be Canada's Achilles Heel (Downfall)?
herbie replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yep! By calling themselves Conservatives. Just like the Nazis did by calling themselves Socialist Workers party. And the bagged out by old age BC Social Credit did by calling itself the Liberals. Sort of like telling us how glorious the capitalist free enterprise system is and how it can't possibly build any houses to put new immigrants in in the same breath. Can'tservatives and 'Con'servatives be damned. -

As anyone not shocked by seeing Trump enter a church without being struck by lightning is a bad Christian.... -

So they shouldn't promote green energy, infrastructure or EVs because there's a deficit ? Build more aircraft carriers and bigger tax breaks for the rich. That'll cure it!
