Most people take two things they only think are related with each other and make a meme.

He could've withdrawn the comment. He didn't so he could enforce the same BS as 'the swamp', 'mockery of democracy', 'system doesn't work needs to be demolished" populist attitude that plays to the populist base. Playing to their why should I be punished because I won't follow the rules attitude and their overall ignorance of how things work. The fool is becoming more and more imitative of that oaf Down South.

Which isn't even much of an ask. They should already involve themselves in ethical investments as they're supposedly setting public and educational examples and not just financial entities. Are they investing in Russia too? No I'm well aware they're more educated then the ploughboys, trolls and bible thumpers that infest this forum. That's you. You sealed your brain off completely to every protestor interviewed and only remembered that. And choose to ignore the major story of one you describer being arrested for hate crimes. Which you oppose with your free speech bullshit while demanding the legal penalties be applied to those with opinions you don't like. Mr. Hypocrite. Blabbing for months now about invading Rafah and still have their thumbs up their arse. Hey Adolph we're building up all those landing craft offshore at Normandy, if ya don't give up we'll invade any day now.... that's got to be the dumbest comment I've heard about the reasons behind the protests.

It's da system, Bro. Yan only tweak it a pinch at at a time. You're talking to someone who'd popover the border and buy Western Family cheese for $3.99/ 2 lb block and Fraser Valley butter for 69¢ lb. System's always been f*cked up. But as I say, you wanna tax the rich, start with the actually rich. Even the kid slinging burgers knows $250,000 isn't a lot of money, definitely not "rich" anymore (snickers thinking of Dr Evil scene)

And a Canadian who's more American that an obvious Russian troll. -
I don't have to prove the obvious. You have to prove the opposite, and using what you interpreted from what they showed you on TV isn't a good start.

Probably thinking of WalMart's influence in that regard. I don't really think Loblaws packs anywhere near that amount of influence. But it does hurt smaller grocers. I'm sure Loblaws gets a better price from suppliers buying 100,000 cases of "X" than SuperValu or IGA does buying 10,000 cases at a time. Or for that matter the only grocer in Cornhole Sask. gets buying 10 cases.

Yes, they'll all give their lives for the right of someone else to get rich. "Gold Rush" mentality predominates over common sense.

99% of people protesting in these rallies are protesting war itself. the undue suffering of the people of Palestine or for the right of the Palestinian people to determine their own future. Only the alarmist blockheads insist are portraying all of them as pro Hamas. They're college and university students more educated and aware than most of you that Hamas and Netanyahu's govt are obstinate arseholes.

No wonder you like the rapist slob. You lie as well as he does. -
No but you do. It's 2024 and if you cross a picket line all you should expect is scorn these days. Which unfortunately not as effective as baseball bat in the knees when so f*cking many people are raised with no sense of shame whatsoever. But keep hoping for your 1930 dreamworld where Pinkertons, the cops and Henry Ford shoot strikers dead, I can assure you the baseball bats will be back. As "Lucilles".... But this thread is about Capital Gains which has Sweet F*ck All to do with unions. I'd suggest they redo the rate to 66% on amount over $500,000. Far less blowback as far less sympathy for anyone earning that much more than Joe Blow's wages.

Using the fire in a theater example, tell me how the intent to spread panic is worse than the intent to spread hatred. And give up with this shit that the King is anything other than one face to stamp on coins and someone to wave at. The system's a hell of a lot preferable with a powerless head than electing your own tyrant every 4 years.

Which has sweet f*ck all to do with anything. Asides from she might have a distinctly American interpretation of 'free speech' and thought cheering terrorists was a 'right'.

But but, it's so easy to defend someone who sleeps and farts through his own trial as a hero. -
Federal VAT Consumption Tax -Required
herbie replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The entire world understands the value and reasons for a VAT/GST but the USA's the only one that refuses one. Proving once again that only the USA is right and the rest of the world is wrong. It's just so unfair a street person pay an extra nickel on a candy bar and a billionaire must pay a whole 1/2 million on a new yacht. And rebates are just too hard to understand and are communist income redistribution too! -
Nice circular argument again. Right back to the 'It must be back to what didn't work for a century because after one year part of PlanB didn't work, therefore all of PlanB is no good'. There's 1,000 issues involved so let's leave it to the experts, doctors and social workers etc. and tell the loudmouth politicians who feed solely on gut issue publicity and don't actually give a damn about who or what they rail about to STFU.

While you're at it, help us put the arseholes suggesting Inheritance Taxea heads on those pikes too. You boomer folks saved that dough for you not the govt.
-
Seriously? Because it never was and would be political suicide to even suggest. You'd need a leader with the stubbornness and willing to fall on his sword like Brian Mulroney to sneak it in out of the blue. When the vast majority of Tory supporters are owners and the majority of Liberal supporters are all homeowners, and even us Dipper homeowners would put your head on a pike for even suggesting the only actually valuable asset that's theirs should be taxed, just forget about even thinking it. It's not 1917 Czarist Russia the evil landowners are your Mum & Dad, friends and neighbours.
