  1. You have a strange idea about bad press is. They just did their job and reported what he did on his day off. But I'm sure if your mind is set and stone that if he took his son to Sobeys to get milk on his day off you'd interpret that as bad too.
  2. found an error in the translation of the Bible. It should have read "the meek shall inherit what's left of the Earth" Right?
  3. More like so many Americans were so enraged at the the very thought of a woman President, they elected and actual c*nt instead.
  4. Never listen to the radio do you? And you're bullshit about being banned from the air is called out here & now.
  5. Most "poor" people are not on Welfare so they don't get dick shit. Many more are low income and don't get dick shit. Many are self employed and don't get dick shit. As got pointed out in another thread 6 million Canadians don't have dental coverage, so if you want to pretend 6 million us an insignificant number feel free to join the League of Arseholes. As far as the "too many gov't benefits" BS, a reminder that the only job of government is to deliver benefits to its citizens even if you don't recognize them as such or because specific ones don't apply to you.
  6. There seems to be this Constitution and Charter of Rights thing in the way. The one that says "the BC NDP and the BC Liberals" don't get to tell the Judges what to do, so it makes their rant a little pointless, doesn't it? The Crown Prosecutors are already asking for more severe penalties and God knows if we'll every hear any of the times they get their way. We only hear about ones like the loonie that was pinned by bystanders, they asked to be remanded and the Jusge let him out on OR. This is just Law & Order grandstanding by the BC Liberals, copying the Harper Conservative law& order Bill every 24 hours of their entire term dog and pony show. Hell they should just change their name to BC Conservative as that's what it should've been since the day the Socreds took over the old Liberal Party.
  7. You mean there WAS balance on the radio and now there isn't going to be? Nothing but rightwing pundits and cranky old geezers on the air like usual?
  8. Good God, you can't prove forests are replanted just by saying so on paper - says the person who's never been in a room full of stinky unwashed tree planters waiting to use the showers.... Give up your tirade of bullshit about 99.9% destroyed and your Winnie The Pooh notion that 100 acres even is a 'forest'... you can drive for hours through nothing but; no towns, no farms, no gas stations. You can't even drive to most of the coastal forest in BC! SIMPLE economics for simple people: why the hell would you sell a log to a pellet plant if a sawmill would pay double or more? EDIT I went to my niece's wedding in Newfoundland in 2014 and the wife and I walked to where people were smoking - one of them pointed and said "I know you you ran the Internet cafe in...". The other end of the damn country FFS. Half a dozen young people who'd tree planted here.
  9. 1 - no, but they better not be running about armed. That would be reportable news in itself 2 - I admit, I only glanced over 'the article' as it is typical NP editorial comment not news. I did read actual news on the subject. On more reputable sources. I do read NP every morning but as anti-Trudeau anti-Liberal editorial comment with such inflammatory headlines seems to cater to their preferred audience I skip 90% of them and look for actual news, not propaganda. Having a human turd like Conrad Black on the front page every day marks the paper as little more than a print edition of FOX news.
  10. This started out as a Canadian forum, so it should not shock you that only the most insanely ignorant and traitorous of Canadians support Trump. Along with the odd ultra-nationalist America hater that enjoyed him turn your country into a laughing stock for 4 years.
  11. Myata has no idea about how forestry things work. I ran the Internet Cafe in town for over 20 years and from late April to July there were lineups of tree planters, 90% of the place's yearly revenue. I even had posters of Mr Peanut around town with "Planters Welcome" and directions. There's even signs posted telling you when cuts were replanted, the ones along the highway marked 1992 were recently cut back further from the road to protect the fibre lines and create firebreaks so we don't get more forest fires the size of Belgium...
  12. Just to add - I looked at the dental premiums on my pension stub. Over $100 a month and good for $850 payouts. Yay private insurance... guaranteed minimum 50% profits. That's why we booted them out of health care years ago and why 3 provinces booted them out of auto insurance...
  13. I don't think he really thinks Democrats would.... we know Americans loathe taxation at any level by anyone so for either party it would be political suicide. Best chance to have done it was during Reagan, it was more in fashion at the time. Missed the boat on a good gov't revenue stream. I don't think a 5% tax would hurt anyone in the US if they brought it in as soon as inflation's corralled, everyone would be numbed to higher prices. It would hurt everyone else, as the value of the USD would go up.
  14. So the PM should go to conferences in Paris on the bus? Or went to PEI and N&L by rowboat to inspect the damage? Or would you rather see him sit in his office mandating what you can have for breakfast and how you tie your shoes like you seem to think he does? Getting real tired of defending a PM I'd never vote for from petty idiots.
  15. Not gonna say the specific region, but ask around your area of BC. And I'm not gonna say ALL these projects are bad, one finger joint mill here sustained itself for 15 years and made a shitload of difference for hundreds of local native and non-native employees. A pellet plant down the road has been running quite a while and more are around. But there's an entire industry of finding grant money in rural BC and no thought given to sustainability in any it seems. We'll just get another grant for something else and milk that until it runs out... seems to be the attitude. I'll also point out that the old gyppo mills were ones that declared bankruptcy and left an absolute mess for the public to clean up. Not grant scammers but 'real smart business guys' like Trump...
  16. Does it have permission for agents to run around armed and shoot people like on TV? Surely not. The whole point is we don't even know what they exactly mean by police stations. They can't "arrest" people in Canada and if they harass Cdns they should be declared persona non grata and expelled. That seems to be the accusation, but with no evidence given.
  17. I get it ArmyGuy, you don't think adding dental to the main healthcare is a good idea, but I and the vast majority of voters do. Most employers do too as it would reduce the 'extended benefits' cost from their pocket. We're not likely to change each other's minds. But I will put to you that it's a (not fully) done deal and eliminating it would not look too good on anyone's election platform. So the actual problem is how to deal with its cost going forward.
  18. Myata does not comprehend that logs is just a generic word. There aren't any Old Growth Ancient Holy poplars or tree limbs or sawdust. Maybe volunteer to come put out the fires we get here when the leftover sawdust from the gyppo mill that closed 30 years ago spontaneously ignites every so often. Understand the biomass plant they built took much longer clearing it all and went way over budget to get the foundation on actual ground at the other one closed 25 years ago. But she did point out one thing: that biomass used up shitloads of grant money, supplied power only to the mills -they never even considered backfeeding to the town itself - , 99% of the original workers were from Spain, when it did startup hired only a few locals and shut down after a year when the feed supply (read that as grant money) ran out. Eventually sold to a conglomerate with the local Band's grant money and no one doubts will shut down again the minute that runs out. You can drive 1 mile out of town and for the next 50 past piles of wood scrap, stumps, broken trees bulldozed into piles and set on fire every winter and that fuel fully wasted. Not turned into pellets, not burned at the bio-mass plant.
  19. Could you get any more petty with your anti_Trudeau BS?
  20. Not objecting to the use of the word, just to implying there's something wrong with taxing everyone at the same rate. That's the whole point and was stressed when Canada's GST was introduced, Added onto the price later so it's clear you're paying a tax and that everyone is getting nailed not just some. The rebating part was somewhat complicated and came with a huge new bureaucracy to send out the cheques to low income and calculate those qualifying incomes year after year. When I ran my business, it was easy as hell. Calculate the money I collected on sales and deduct all the GST I'd spent on all goods & services to provide what I sold. No complicated paperwork required. Far easier than the Provincial tax where you needed to keep records of what the PST applied to and only got a tiny % for collecting it. The original question is why in the fiscal position of the last couple decades does the USA not use one when it surely would benefit from a GST/VAT? Plus, let's not forget that it causes more money to move between suppliers, produces, sellers, gov't and citizens.
  21. No I pointed out 2 ways to reduce the burden on lower incomes. And I really don't care if bean counters picked a word and labelled it "bad" I heard enough economic doublespeak when I lived with an accountant, and see enough whenever a company has massive layoffs and their stock value shoots up.
  22. Yes, I was a math major. 1 out of 6 is not a small group. Six million is not a small group. How can you dismiss a figure like six million as insignificant in the overall picture? What is it that you don't get - that this is a fix for an omission on Day One or the overall idea that social programs are the number one part of the budget that benefits your daily life. You want spending cuts, then cut the spending on shit instead of things that help.
  23. I read the National Post every morning and wonder why he funds them to print nothing but anti-Trudeau shit on every front page? Some massive ultra leftist reverse-psychology conspiracy perhaps?
  24. The report doesn't mention why they use the wood pellets. Mixing those in actually reduces the CO2 and pollutants from coal burning plants. Enough to meet the standards there, but diddly squat compared to overall world-wide coal emissions. And "primary forests" simply means where it is most commercially feasible to perform forestry operations. I live there. Pellets are made from sawmill scrap, forest waste and logs not best suited for lumber. So some Old Growth" content might be included. No one cuts down evergreen timber just to make pellets. We do live in a market economy so if the sawmill isn't buying and a pellet plant is that's life. The tree's already cut down. Doesn't happen a lot and not for really good logs. And what's the author's alternative? Stop using the pellets and increase their CO2 output in those coal plants?
