538 had a 30% chance of Trump winning.....    it fell Trump's way...   I don't see why that's an "epic fail"...

Right - I mean, most of the tossup states were a real tossup.  The balance of probability had her winning.  It didn't go that way.

In fact 538 got a lot of flak from some other ("more liberal") poll aggregators that were giving Clinton a >99% win chance, saying that the 538 models with "fat tails" were unrealistic. 538 had it closer to the mark than most.

  3. Canada 1 Finland 0. Booyah TSS!!!

  4. Canada added 259,000 jobs in February. That's like the US adding more than 2.5 million jobs per capita.

And you're a corrosive troll embarrassing debate skills.

You just dismissed the great job gains as no-big deal because people were told they can't work.

Then you pivot to the catastrophe of having to have those Stay-At-Home orders in the first place.

These numbers would indicate the economy is headed for a rebound.

Sure the hospitality industry is seeing some serious losses, but other industries have seen a boon time because of the pandemic.

    3. Shady

      Shady

There not actual job gains.  Provinces have been in lockdown for two months.  It’s businesses bringing back laid off employees.  You have no idea what you’re taking about as usual.  And to compare to to the united states makes zero sense.  They’re not going to have the same job numbers this quarter because most of their economy hasn’t been locked down, hence those jobs are already been added to the economy.  You’re an economic illiterate.

    4. Boges

      Boges

If they're not economic gains then the previous losses aren't actually losses either.

It's good news because it's an indication that many of these jobs aren't permanently lost, which is what your caustic post indicated.

  5. Canada creates 246,000 jobs in August. Per Capita that's almost double the the US figure. And Hundreds (or even Dozens) of Canadians aren't dying each day from COVID.

    3. Shady

      Shady

Yes, lockdowns that didn’t need to take place had we not had to wait until April for any substantial quantities of vaccines.  Wasted months that were paying for now, while other countries have been back to almost normal.  Stop making excuses.

      Boges

Your petty outrage and my realism get us to the exact same spot.

It's not good enough to not support JT, you have the REALLY!!!! not support him and not be happy that things are getting back to normal because we should have been inline with the US even though they saw much more death leading to negligible economic advantages and WAY more debt.

  7. Canada is now ahead of the whole EU in terms of Vaccination.

But please, only compare to a country that still sees a thousand people die a day due to COVID.

  10. Canada's Vaccine response is only a failure when compared with the US and the UK. Both countries who have handled the outbreak amongst the worst of any Developed nation in terms of cases and death.

Canada's percentage of doses given is inline with much of Europe. While it has way fewer cases and deaths that most of Europe.

      Did you read the link?

Canada's percentage of first dose vaccination is 8.58%.

That's within half a percentage behind Germany, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and Sweden.

It's better than France, Netherlands, Poland and Belgium (Where we get the Pfizer Vaccine).

The countries, that aren't tiny nations, where we're far behind are the UK, the US, Israel, Finalnd and Serbia.

    3. bush_cheney2004

Preconditions place them at risk for many things. That’s why it’s reasonable to allow more exemptions.

At the very least, persons with other illness should be monitored closely by their physicians.

But family physicians arent really involved in this much, are they.

I looked for something supporting this claim of pre-existing conditions.

The closest I could find is this:

"Other players have had myocarditis before coronavirus, Nagelsmann said, but noted it wasn't really relevant to the team how Davies contracted it or to how it would be treated."

That's from the CBC. I could give you the full quote from the CBC but because I enjoy pissing off the right people I'll give you the full story from a right wing source:

      Quote

Another day, another story about a soccer player being sidelined due to sudden-onset heart-related illness.

Continuing a disturbing trend of professional soccer players being pulled from games, Canadian star Alphonso Davies, who plays for Bayern Munich, is showing signs of an "inflammation of the heart muscle," according to CP24

He is only 21 years old.

Davies has been ruled out of Canada's three World Cup qualifiers set to take place in Janaury and February.

His club manager, Julian Nagelsmann, has said that the problem was caught during a follow up COVID examination.

“He'll sit out training until further notice. He won't be available, also in the coming weeks. The ultrasound shows this myocarditis isn't so dramatic but it's a sign of myocarditis. Still, it has to heal and that will definitely take some time,” the skipper commented.

He didn't attribute the inflammation to Covid right away, stating: “There are different reasons, especially viral load or the flu, for instance, that can cause cardiac problems."

"That occurred pre-corona to other players. Now the probability is higher if you combine corona and top athleticism, that might cause other problems. But that's not relevant for us right now. It's not relevant to the treatment. It doesn't matter if Alphonso Davies had this from the flu or Omicron-Delta or whatever. That's not really the decisive factor," he continued.

“The situation is that it's absolutely awful, terrible. What can I say? A bad situation for us.”

Davies has stopped training and is widely considered one of the best left backs in the world.

He is fully vaccinated and got his booster in December, reports says.

I heard the announcement when it was made around 1pm. I haven't been on-line until now. What kind of response do you want? Do you expect everyone to be hanging around their keyboard ready to type the instant something becomes news?

Yes, I am very disappointed in this action. It shows cowardice on the part of Trudeau in not tackling the difficult problems. Going into it one could see it would be a big challenge, but to make such a bold promise and then fail completely only 25% into his mandate is an act of cowardice.

But seriously, it's obvious JT has employed a strategy of dropping some of his promises now, hoping that his supporters will forget about his broken promises come voting day.  Which means that he's taking counsel from the old guard, who haven't been able to do anything original since Chretien/Martin.

I'm telling you, you're looking a one termer.
