In 1993 the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples investigated Indian Residential Schools, and other issues. Interviews of Indigenous happened across the country but in the BC Interior, it happened at Kamloops Residential School. The Kamloops Residential School is on the Reserve of the Secwepemc First Nation. The people making the claims about 215 buried children are the Secwepemc. And in 1993 the Commission heard testimony from the Chief of the Secwepemc, among many other Secwepemc people. In 1993 they all had an opportunity to address anything they wished, in an open and protected forum to tell their truth, of their experience of Kamloops Residential School. The interviews were even extended for an extra day so that the Chiefs of Bands of other children who attended Kamloops School could also give testimony. And like the Secwepemic "knowledge keepers", they made no mention of mass graves or missing children, either. And in all their testimony, the Secwepemc 'knowledge keepers' never made a single reference to graves, burials, or deaths of children. In 1993 the knowledge keepers had spoken, it's documented, and does not support what we were told in the Tkemlups press conferences. The adults giving testimony in 1993 were much more impacted by Residential Schools, than the adults in 2026. It's like a game of "Telephone" where the truth becomes more and more convoluted as the years go by.
