The sort of people prone to MAGA will tell you a FIFY is amongst the most heinous things people can do to someone these days. They adore a president for using ridicule and humour to dump on millions of people and then cheer when that same president uses the power of the state to go after people who use satire and comedy to criticize him. This is the raw power of partisanship these days.4 points

When I am Shah of the world I will permit Belgium and Germany to continue making beer without let or hindrance because they seem to know what they are doing. Everyone else will have apply for special exemptions. In Canada, only Happy Valley by Iron Rock and Blanche de Chambly can expect approval so far. IPAs will be forbidden. They are an utter abomination. We will not speak of them again.4 points

Trump is such a small, pathetic, person. Someone hurt his feelings simply by calling back to the words of a far greater president, so he decided to take his ball and go home. Nevermind that the power of his office is meant to serve the American people, not service his fragile ego. -- He has the MAGA cultists to service him.3 points

It’s funny how particular Trump’s defenders are about the truth all of a sudden. They ignore the torrent of daily lies pouring from their disgusting idol yet expect every ad about him to be an impartial civics lesson. Reagan said that stuff. It’s not fake. There was no AI involved. He really didn’t want to slap on those tariffs.3 points
-
It didn’t misrepresent his views. He was pro free trade and anti-tariffs. He justified tariffs in very specific and limo situations only, such as a specific situation he mentions with Japan. Free trade with the world is one of his legacies.3 points

Trump is neither rational or calm. And Carney has been nothing BUT rational and calm. You can’t blame the sane person for their crazy behaviour irrational behaviour of the crazy person Just think about it: trade agreements with your largest trading partner are maters of HUGE national concerns and affect the lives and livelihoods of TENS OF MILLIONS of Americans and BILLIONS of dollars in trade. The fact that it all hinges on the fact that the Dictator In Chief doesn’t like a TV commercial that’s not even by the Canadian government is FUKIN CRAZY3 points

If you missed it, this crash is awful. Appears to be not only another ILLEGAL Immigrant with a CDL, but one that Biden Administration let go.2 points

LOL...he could move to Richmond and then their Libbie mayor could hand his home to the natives. It would be poetic as Hell.2 points

I suppose that would indeed fit I have said many times that the left is all about violence and hatred these days.2 points
-
It really didn't. It just stated why he was pro free trade. Nothing in there ever suggested there was no time when restrictions aren't warranted. It's an ad, it's not a history lesson. The ad isn't misleading or lying, that's over the top. It's fine to point out that reagan did believe in appropriate tarffs where necessary but he was still pro free trade and that was why.2 points

Two things can be true The third and most likely one is the isp shut it down entirely to prevent legal liability. That does happen fairly regular.2 points

Again, I can understand Americans defending Trump but any Canadian who does is siding with an avowed enemy during a profound national crisis. If they hate our country so much they really should not stay here.2 points
-
That ad was a lot fairer than the vast majority of political ads. Reagan generally opposed tariffs but was willing to impose them selectively. By contrast, Trump has alienated the entire world with his shotgun approach to tariffs and made China (China!) look like a more reasonable country to deal with. Ford did not cheat. He used Reagan’s real, spoken words. Whether his ad was wise is a different matter.2 points

I wonder if anyone here posted something similar to X or Bluesky?2 points

Riiiight. He was only 99.9% opposed to tariffs not 100% like they ad made it seem. That’s what you’re hanging your hat on?2 points

How so? Trump is fundamentally AGAINST free trade. He has a minimum 10% tariff against ALL countries including those that the US already has a trade surplus with. His whole “past presidents have allowed countries to take advantage of us for generations” lie is directly uAGAINST Reagan’s free trade policies. He has tariffs against countries that he already has feee trade agreements with including Canada. And most importantly nowhere does Ronald Reagan list “some from another country taking out a tv ad I don’t like” as reason not to have free trade with that country Seriously give your brainwashed head a shake.2 points

...and... It is not the people, it is the policy. What kind of people knowingly violate the law to get a benefit? It ain't the honest people. And! They are the kind of people that will drive a truck with a CDL that is not valid for the person that was awarded it and is not theirs. And! The company they work for is not licensed. All that happens because the policy of not enforcing the law attracted them. The policy is the problem. Thank God that policy is gone. Thank God He moved Trump's head just enough.2 points

Tragic and life altering for those involved... like it's tragic and life altering for the other ~12,500 DUI fatalities each year. If illegal immigrants comprise the majority of those fatalities I'd understand this limp excuse for a thread title, but guessing that's not even close to what the facts would say. The hypocrisy never disappoints... The minions get up in arms over instances like this but couldn't care less when Joe Smith the born and raised American does the same or worse. Example last month in North Carolina... Nigel Edge a local North Carolinian and marine combat veteran opened fire with an assault rifle on a dockside bar that killed 3 people and wounded 5. To the best of my knowledge... not one peep here about that. Is that because mass shootings in the US are just too commonplace to pay attention any more, or is it because he wasn't an immigrant or illegal. In minion land, it's the latter...2 points

lol time to just stop working with america yea it will hurt for awhile but at this point usa is a piece of trash and just an abusive partner move on carney.2 points

America is reducing it's chances by going it alone. Turning your back on us and burning bridges to you will open up avenues in different directions and towards more viable opportunities. I'd guess this will all but makes a big thaw with China a certainty. No, this was entirely Trump's doing and yes it does seem to have caused a little stubborn pride...notwithstanding the self-humiliating giggles Maple MAGA get forever trying to stick Trump's shit on our politicians. Probably makes Trump proud though - he should run ads in Canada showing MM ridiculing Carney and Ford. That would fix the stubbornness for sure.2 points

Trump is a cult leader. Like, literally. He loves the attention, the fawning. Unless you're Elon Musk, 100% of Trump fans have below-average intelligence because an intelligent person wouldn't fall for his BS or support his methods. The amount of people who think the 2020 election was stolen from Trump with zero evidence other than Trump saying so is embarrassing. They were conned by a snake-oil salesman and don't even realize it. He's a dictator who won't admit defeat when he loses, tries to overturn democratic elections, punishes anyone who criticizes him, demands unquestioned compliance, and tries to find any means he can get away with to not follow the law in order to get his own way. He's a man-child. It's ok to support the issues he wants fixing, it's not ok to support the methods he's using. He was definitely elected based on the former, not the latter. In fact, he lost the election in 2020 because of the latter. If he wasn't such a POS he might have gone down as one of the greatest POTUS in history. He's Icarus to an extreme extent.2 points
-
Disagree on a couple fronts - @Deluge is quite correct. Come on seriously... he's never been correct. No, not every POTUS was a narcissist. There is a difference between being uber confident in your own abilities versus having a personality disorder that gives you an unreasonably high sense of self importance. Trump's the guy with the mental health disorder. What does the democrat presidents you mention have to do with Trump's lying, cheating and grifting? They're not president or relevant to any policies now. The POS is... I'm fully aware of the world and what it is right now. You however seem to have trouble disassociating yourself from someone who wants to destroy your country's economy because of your admiration for them. Strength is not a word or state that you would know...1 point

That's exactly what I see as well, likely on a smaller scale because of a smaller town but your words ring true and match my own experience and observations. I sometimes wonder if that sentiment comes as a surprise to the Herbs of the world who see racists under every woodpile and can't (or won't) take the time to consider that some of the demographic objections people articulate here have more to do with the importation of cultures and religions than are fundamentally incompatible with secular democracy than they do with ethnicity. Without exception, all of the people I've met who share Herbs outlook have never been to the countries of origin that they are repeatedly urged to be cautious about... yet they mindlessly ridicule the concerns of those who have and refuse to invest in the efforts it would take to make the assimilation of these folks viable.1 point

Their product is inferior anyway and they’re heading for the scrap heap. If Trump does destroy our car industry we should buy Asian cars, preferably but not necessarily made here. I’ve been buying Japanese and Korean cars nearly all my adult life because they are simply better. Most of us don’t need those monstrous, gas-guzzling American trucks1 point
-
The key takeaway for me is where it said that since the feds and province under BOTH parties began shovelling bailouts to the big 3 back in 2007, their production has dropped from 1.7 million cars per year to 600,000 and most production in Canada is now the Japanese. TBH I don’t know anyone who wants to buy BiG 3 car unless it’s a pickup truck or a marquee sports car like Corvette or Mustang. Maybe it’s time to say goodbye.1 point

Oh? This EO has nothing to do with that? Is that why it's explicitly mentioned in this EO? "As described in the Order of September 22, 2025 (Designating Antifa as a Domestic Terrorist Organization) the groups and entities that perpetuate this extremism have created a movement that embraces and elevates violence to achieve policy outcomes, including justifying additional assassinations." Complete farking bullshit. You're saying that the POTUS has a blank check to do anything he wants if he argues it's under that blanket mandate. That's exactly what you are saying. Which is exactly how Trump is behaving. And you both are wrong. And that's why there are No Kings protests as we watch you people chip away at every check and balance. No, he did not. Not even close. You are outright and blatantly lying. -- And comically so. The idea that a devout Catholic designated his own faith a domestic terrorist group is insane. Again, you are lying. A) There has never been a designation as a domestic terrorist organization before because it's a power Trump just invented out of nowhere, so you don't know what the ramifications of that are. B. Groups so designated, at the whim of our corrupt president, DO in fact lose rights. The current standard for opening an investigation requires probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed. This EO upends that protection, so that literally anyone can be investigated with an accusation of association with a designated group. Antifa is not an organization. There is no membership. It's simply an idea. So who is in it? Who has supported the organization? Anybody corrupt Trump wants investigated can be accused because he's defining the terms. Or for an easier example, if he designates Black Lives Matter as a "domestic terrorist organization" (which again, has no prior definition and no legal standard or standing, can anyone who donated to BLM be investigated? That's what this EO says. Again, it's HUAC on steroids. The communist party was at least a formal organization. This is anyone and anything Trump wants to target. 🤪Not targeting the left? Again: Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality. Civil disobedience is not an attempt to overthrow the government. Riotous disobedience is not an attempt to overthrow the government. You know what's an attempt to overthrow the government? A goddamn literal attempt to overthrow the government. -- The perpetrators of which have now been pardoned by the corrupt sociopath who you are saying--with a straight face--is concerned about political violence. No authority to seek out a single entity? You have GOT to read this thing you keep talking about. (c) The JTTFs shall also investigate: (i) institutional and individual funders, and officers and employees of organizations, that are responsible for, sponsor, or otherwise aid and abet the principal actors engaging in the criminal conduct described in subsections (a) and (b) of this section; and1 point

Prove it in a court of law? The DOJ is run by servile minions under his explicit orders while the Supreme Court loves the idea of unchecked presidential authority. Only an authoritarian would deny that America has been moving rapidly in that direction since Trump took office.1 point

Sure, who was actually president over the FBI is just a technicality. Lol And Wray was a Trump appointee, but secretly following Biden's orders. Probably Patel too. Is it your position that political figures should not be subject to investigation when they are reasonably suspected of criminal activity? This is exactly like the bogus claim that Obama spied on Trump. When in fact the FBI was spying on Russian intelligence operatives--and it just so happens that the Trump campaign kept contacting them. You know, to super secretly share totally casual information. 🙄1 point
