  1. Wrong. In my neck of the woods the convoy had 100% support. It was just the left leaning press which said otherwise, Many non thinkers bought into the MSM propaganda.

  4. Perhaps members can help resolve a discussion I had with a enthusiastic supporter of the Liberals save the world agenda. Can anyone give an example of a Liberal green initiative that doesn't involve party members or friends making a lot of money? Can you think of a single initiative that would cost party members or their friends money? My own opinion, Liberal green policy has nothing to do with the environment but is an effort to reorganize the economy to make themselves an obscene amount of money.

  5. What did the public that you're referring to, who didn't support the convoy, "know" about it, MH? Did they all see it first-hand, or did most of them see it/learn about it on CTV, CBC and other news networks? If they just saw it on the news, they "knew" that it was rife with swastikas and confederate flags, they "knew" that people were peeing on everything and destroying things, they "knew" that statues were being defaced, etc. But none of that was true... How did they all "know" things that weren't true, MH? How did that happen?

  6. This is an odd place for a confession, but you're the last person I ever expected to hear the truth from, so I'll take it. That's a pretty solid quote. I like it. The next sentence in that paragraph was this: "and they'll marvel at the hypocrisy of the leftists who acted like covid was a pandemic of biblical proportions who simultaneously jumped to discredit possible, affordable solutions." Perfection.

  8. Trudeau was voted in last time, based on his campaign of hate against "anti-vaxxers" (who a large majority of voters wanted jailed) and in spite of a long list of scandals, gov't waste of taxpayer money, and deficit budgets. I blame YOU. YOU chose him. And now look where we are.

  10. You should really watch some of the proceedings from the many inquiries going on recently and currently. Also, there's even been quite a few "conflict of interest" scandals in the news - Mary Ng, Anita Anand, Trudeau himself, Frank Bayliss, Rouleau, etc. Many Libs gave sweet contracts to friends and family during the pandemic. In the ArrivScam inquiry, it also came out that many Libs are "double-dipping" - working in gov't positions while also picking up contracts to do other gov't work.

  11. Legalizing pot was the only "good" thing that ever came out of the trudeau gov't. I don't smoke the stuff but i've always thought it should be a choice and that it was wrong to keep it illegal. But that's it. And those of us who were a little older knew right off the bat that this was going to be a disaster. But i havet to admit, although i thought it would be bad, and maybe take 10 years to recover from like it did with his dad, even i wouldn't have predicted the sheer devastation that's happened to our finances, the hatred across the country and the end to the 'help thy neighbour' canada that i used to know, the erosion of our quality of life, the erosion of freedoms etc etc. I don't blame people too much for voting for him the first time. I mean - nice socks and such i guess. And it's not like harper was very good at campaigns and the media was lying it's ass off about how we didnt' ACTUALLY do well in the recession, which is beyond bullcrap. but - the second and the third time, there was no excuse. Liberals are ALWAYS like this. We ALWAYS backslide under the liberals, have since trudeau the first. Hard way to learn.

  12. I honestly believe the dems thought " IF we manage to get him charged with dozens of dozens of court cases people won't vote for him and we will NEVER have to worry about him being in power and taking revenge!" But they went overboard, and now all the publicity has made trump front and center in the news and a martyr to many. So now there's a very decent chance he'll win. And i think they're getting just a little scared of what that might mean because they know what THEY would do. And that's the last thing they want done to them.

  13. Through the power of quoting, I compel thee... "It's a fact that the notion of fetal supremacy creates a superclass with rights above and beyond born citizens--superior to born citizens. That doesn't exist anywhere in the constitution, nor is there any logical basis for it. And the Roe decision was right to protect citizens from states who would subordinate them in such a way." And you are misusing the term "inalienable rights." Inalienable rights refer to rights reserved for the people, those which shall not be alienated by state law. In other words, protection from the laws of the state. The inalienable rights in the 14th amendment were the foundation of Roe, BTW. It might have been better rooted in equal protection than privacy (which is usually my argument) but in either approach the SCOTUS was right to protect women from an overreaching state.

  16. Let's be honest here. She put her dog down because it was aggressive. It tried to bite her, was aggressive, and had killed her neighbor's chickens. You and others dishonestly framed this as if she shot it just because she didn't like it or it didn't hunt well enough for her.

  18. “If Trump and [John] Roberts and Alito and [Neil] Gorsuch and [Clarence] Thomas and Leonard Leo and the Heritage Foundation, if they get a hold, there will be no government left, there will be no rights left, you will live under theocracy, you’ll end up with Christian nationalism. But that’s all right, you little f[edited] 26-year-old, you don’t feel like ‘the election’s important to me. They’re not addressing the issues that I care about,'” said Carville. Clearly Carville believes that Trump will win or he wouldn't be freaking out over younger voters not wanting to vote for Joe. Anecdotally: a good friend of mine has a very liberal daughter. She got into teaching and just graduated last year. She's a councilor in Chicago right now. She was all in D. Now she's not. She's not voting for Trump. Let's make that clear. This is no full conversion story. But she is done with Democrats. She is quitting after this school year to move back to Texas and she is sitting out the election. That is an example of what James is addressing. But that leads to another discussion, will Democrats replace Joe. I believe they will. I actually stated that (on a different forum) when the boxes where found at Penn-Biden, that that was the first step in getting Joe removed. Do not be surprised if he is forced out. They will either get enough damning info on him, his son and his brother to blackmail him into quitting, get his family indicted or use a doctor to say he is to senile to continue. In any case, something will drive Joe out of the race.

  24. No, I've marked lots of ballots...at times hopefully, grudgingly at others...it mostly feels like a demeaning exercise in futility though. Patronizing voters like this might make you feel good but its kind of nauseating really. No, all this simply means is if voters don't pick your guy for whatever partisan reasons you think matter and that are peculiar to you - which in your case is a truly averse reaction to the idea of any kind of penetrating transparency and robust institutions of accountability that can act far more immediately and punishingly than any X on a ballot ever could. In the meantime voters like me can remain active in local governance and wrest or contribute what little transparency and accountability we can from the ground up. It's all good but we really do need something that also compels these from the top down.

When he can he'll strike back. He's kind of forgetful and maybe he'll decide to mellow a bit in office. He forgave hillary pretty quick in '16. But if he doesn't - you can bet he'll make life hell for those who tried to come after him

  27. This is a bit duplicitous. Roe V Wade was an awful ruling, instead of dealing with that, you want to argue that because it was awful for so long, then we shouldn't change it. Again, Roe V Wade is what caused 50 years of political strife and issues. It was a never ending battle to try to push state laws that constantly had to be retested in the Courts with specious legal reasoning and tests created and fabricated by the Courts. The Supreme Court made this a way of our life for 50 years by forcing Roe V Wade on everyone. Now, it is best left to the States. Even your take on the Federalist Society is disingenuous at best. Judicial restraint is returning to a world before Roe V Wade because it was the Supreme Court THEN that inserted itself into the case. Righting that wrong is a return to more judicial restraint.

  28. No, its' not. Not even remotely. And you can't articulate such an argument. In fact, you've got it quite backward. States that restrict abortion enslave women on behalf of the elevated, superior fetus. Again, no. You are blatantly misrepresenting me. I said nothing of the sort.

  29. Ah yes. The left-wing: We must eradicate all pit bull breeds and ban them all; none can be trusted. Also: OMG, I can't believe someone shot their violent, aggressive dog! We could have moved heaven and Earth to ensure it lived with someone else instead!

  30. No I mean it's messed up. Again, it's the same argument that was used by democrats to justify slavery. Exactly and he's also mischaracterizing what the recent ruling meant anyway. They didn't "ban abortion" they returned the decision making to states elected officials. Much the same way as state driving laws

  31. I didn't suggest that Dobbs created fetal supremacy. I said that they were wrong to strip citizens of protection from states who would impose fetal supremacy upon its citizens. The constitution and the court exist to protect citizens from state overreach. And severe restrictions on abortion are nothing if not extreme overreach.

  32. The Majority Opinion was about 70 pages long, not including the appendixes. The purpose of citing Sir Matthew Hale took up less than a sentence to only illustrate the common law nature of abortion laws. Instead of dealing with that fact, you make this pathetic play at discrediting a source... when that was never even the point of citing that particular source. And as I already pointed out, Roe V Wade was not an established precedent for the 180+ years before...

  33. Yes, it is today. It wasn't then. And that was one of Alito's points, but it's an entirely specious one. This court is guilty of egregious cherry picking. Not only did they wildly disrupt a longstanding status quo--which they all indicated they would not do during confirmation--but they did so so selectively as to remove all doubt about the religious motive underlying the change. Stare decisis? What's that!?! They could, almost shot for shot, apply Alito's shoddy reasoning to a whole trove of conservative darlings, but they won't, because this was never about reason. SCOTUS has never been infallible, but for most of its history it's managed to remain somewhat above the political fray. It was smart and deliberate and thoughtful and fair. Well, the shine is off that apple. Poor Roberts, despite his efforts, presides over a tattered shadow of an institution full of naked prejudice. Just one more institution Trump turned to crap.

  34. How ridiculous. Dogs are not shot in the face due to being “untrainable”. They’re not even shot in the face for being aggressive. And were talking about a puppy here that still has plenty of options beside being shot in the face Sounds to le like it was just typical playful puppy behaviour not a viscous aggressive mature dog as you’d have us believe There is no municipal ordinance requiring owners to shoot their dog or even euthanize on their own. A viscous dog will be seized by authorities following an attack and the authorities will then determine if they need to euthanize the dog based on the circumstances and history. Don’t try to conflate that with Noem shooting the dog because it embarrassed her on a hunting trip and so she decided it was “less than useless” therefore “had to” be shot. Also notice that despite having a farm she shot the dog and goat at a gravel out (some else’s private property) in front of the people working there

  35. It was a 14-month old puppy and the behaviour sounds like typical untrained puppy behaviour. If she wasn’t up for keeping the dog she could have given it away which is what most people do. I’ll say it a third time: Millions of people own or have grown up with dogs and know that a 14-month old puppy can be trained or simply given away. You can’t gaslight us into thinking shooting puppies is normal. And that’s why she’s getting backlash even from fellow conservatives.

  42. Yes I'm sure conservatives all across the nation, are disappointed that throwing gay people off of buildings is not going to be in the cards...But in show of soldarity with our LGBTQ community we are going to have the annual throw a lefty of buildings, preferable small buildings we could have called it the purge but thats already taken...maybe we can call it liberation day...Liberals count as one point NDP counts as two points and any member of the green will count as three points...who ever has the most points wins...it could be part of the conservatives new climate change plan...reduce our nations carbon footprint. Then HAMAS is the main problem here right...somehow we are content with slapping Israel around because of Hamas creating all these issues...like one bug circle...instead of protesting our government to cut all aid into the city...or denounce and sanctioning hamas.... your content on slamming Israel, they are the main problem, when they are but one cog in the wheel, and Hamas is the driving force behind all of this stuff.... because hamas is loved and worshipped in the UN...

  44. @CdnFox That Justin Transition - by Douglas Farrow (substack.com) The behaviour of this man, and of his party, is not merely irresponsible. It is criminal in character and treasonous in kind. It makes a mockery of Canada's fundamental law and openly repudiates the principles on which the country was built. It regards the nation-state as such, the country itself, as an anachronism. The Justin Transition is not a transition from nasty fossil fuels to beautiful green energy. (Ask the Chinese about that.) It's a transition from democracy to oligarchy. Yes, the prime minister is shameless. But so are we. We put him into power. We've been keeping him in power. It's not a few yuan here, a little strong-arming there, and a couple of rented busses that have kept him in power. It's not even the hopelessly compromised NDP. It's the urban voter in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. The urban voter has kept him in power.

They figure if they open the borders and give all the benefits to illegal aliens, that the citizens will get the message and either move out of the country or just crawl off somewhere and die - they could maybe even arm the illegals and let them help cull the herd.
