Dude - the scopes trial was about an ADULT TEACHER against the education law, NOT AN EDUCATION OF A STUDENT. The fact they were arguing over a curriculum doesn't make it an 'educational situation'. But - what we're talking about HERE is a child and that child's education Children are not the same as adults. The education system has a duty of care towards the children. Children are why it exists. Entirely different in every respect. Unless you have a better example i have to say educational situations going to court mean someone has failed badly.4 points

First it was the Silicon Bank now there are concerns with some of the others as the US races to legislate the banks. My guess is next round of bank implosion is the digital ID. You know they have to have full control because it's your fault3 points

While what you say is true, the chain of causation still follows that he wound up being arrested for this view. He was suspended for taking part in a class discussion on the issue of male/female bathrooms. He was booted out of class, out of school, and then later served an 'exclusiion' order to not come back because trans students felt unsafe due to his opinions. All of which is pretty outrageous, in my view. Should he have tried to go back anyway? No. But when he showed up he was arrested and taken away. “It was about male students using female washrooms, gender dysphoria and male breastfeeding. Everyone was sharing their opinions on it, any student who wanted to was participating, including the teacher,” Alexander said. “I said there were only two genders, and you were born either a male or a female, and that got me into trouble. And then I said that gender doesn’t trump biology.” https://canoe.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-catholic-high-school-student-suspended-then-arrested-for-saying-there-are-only-two-genders/wcm/b4a7230b-bfaf-4b1d-a29f-f340fb3eb00f3 points

I always found it odd how the language and attitudes of the extreme Left so often mirror the language of the Trumptards and the far Right. Both express an absolute confidence that their vision is perfect, and anyone who disagrees is absolute garbage. They even feel a sense of glee at their anger. And neither side accepts the slightest disagreement with their vision, nor even tries to defend their vision except with broad talking points usually gleaned from the internet and various slurs and insults. No one is suggesting this kid shouted. No one has said he cursed or threatened. He even said he never misgendered or deadnamed anyone. The discussion was ON the subject to which he contributed. There is thus no comparison to someone shouting racial insults in a diner or anywhere else. He disagreed with the established story and was punished for refusing to bow his head and meekly accept the narrative. Despite the fact three quarters or more of the country agree with him.2 points

1. You are utterly delusional to claim he wasn't there to overturn the election. That's was the explicit goal of the "Stop the steal" nonsense Chansley and other loons were spouting on social media. And the threatening note he left for Pence after they took the chamber is just icing on this crap cake. 2. Because that's exactly why he was there. 3. Nobody looks like they should be shot when just walking around, but put them in a mob breaking through doors to get to the legislators on the other side and it's a different story. He's simply lucky he wasn't with the Babbitt group. And frankly, he's lucky to be in prison, where a raving loon has access to mental health treatment. 4. Outnumbered and overwhelmed, the police didn't fend off much of anything after the intial breach, until the last line of defense at the babbit shooting. They surrendered the non-essential spaces. But they surely spent those hours trying to get the insurrectionists to leave. 5. Blah, blah, conspiracy nonsense. Ray Epps, like thousands of others, was crazy enough to believe Fox's lies, but not crazy enough to break into the capitol building. Like the rest of the mob that opted not to enter, he hasn't been prosecuted.2 points

Why would they have to restrict his opinion on such a thing? Seems to me education and debate would be a better avenue rather than hissy fits, suspensions, and using the police to enforce your view2 points

Mike always takes the side of using power to squelch opposition, no matter whether it’s against constitutionally protected rights or a matter of morality. He will cite a rare counter-example that isn’t really analogous. The problem with this level of justification for mistreatment is that it enables more of it. These kinds of oppression have become normalized in Canada. People have no recourse to criticize or push back because they can lose their jobs or be de-platformed in some other way. The right not to be offended (which doesn’t exist) is used to prevent people from expressing opinions (which it appears is no longer a right in Canada). Canada doesn’t have free speech and is a weak democracy.2 points

He was expelled first for opposing a biological male using a girls’ washroom after girls expressed concern. What’s more startling is that the Catholic Church doesn’t recognize any gender except the biological one with which one is born, so this school is openly heretical.2 points

It's an absolute farking mystery why people are concerned with a US President who tried to circumvent our democratic processes and seize power through illegal schemes and fake electors. Not to even mention the several other disqualifying acts during 4 years of national embarrassment. Oh, and he's trying to get back into office. I just can't imagine why anyone would be concerned.1 point

Trying to narrow it down a bit further: arrested for being persistent in executing the right to express his opinion? These schools are owned by us, the citizens, taxpayers. We did not pass the ownership to anybody else? Since when we do not allow expression of opinions in our schools? Since when we are punishing by exclusion for expressing of opinions? What we will allow next if keep riding merrily and thoughtlessly, down this well trodden path?1 point

Notice how @Nationalist amd the rest of the far right crackpots have not posted on this thread in over 10 days and even when they did post, they tried to change tue subject to CNN, Biden’s laptop, Covid conspiracies, Wikipedia, etc. Not one of them is able to discuss the actual points relevant to the topic of this thread which to recap are: 1) Even Fox doesn’t believe the election conspiracy lies that its pundits it peddles to the gullible classes. 2) Tucker and other pundits complaining that the news division should stop report that Biden won the election fair and square because it is “not what our viewers want to hear”. In all of their internal emails and texts not once do any of them indicate that they believe the election was actually stolen, they basically only argue that their viewers could move to other right wing outlets unless the Fox “news” department starts reporting the fake news that their hyper-partisan nutjob audience already believes to he true b 3) And the icing on the cake, which is Tucker has hated Trump this whole time.1 point

Yes, one leads to the other. If he had not voiced his opinion then there was no trespass violation, his presence on that day would have been perfectly acceptable. It is quite reasonable and accurate to say that his stating his opinion lead to his arrest. Just not that he was arrested for his opinion.1 point

IS it a 'racial slur' now to say that a man is a man? If you said at a restaurant that black people are black i don' t know you'd get kicked out. In fact, if you got strange looks it would be because people would be thinking "yeahhhhh,... that's obvious, what's your point?". And a school in Canada has a duty to provide for discussion on a variety of sensitive issues. So - if this is a problem, then we don't need to change the student, we need to change the school.1 point

I have seen no contradictions to what is laid out in various articles. Of course not. If he was derisive, insulting, obscene, etc., that would justify suspension. But given the discussion is on gender and bathrooms I would think even in a non-religious school setting, even on the subject of biology he would have a right to politely express his belief (which is likely shared by the vast majority of Canadians) that there are only two genders. I have seen no polls here, but the one I found from the US last year says 75% believe there are only two genders. So how does a school justify an opinion shared by three out of four people getting you banned from campus as a safety threat? How do school boards justify shutting down meetings and calling police whenever a parent dares to question their fanaticism on this subject? And btw, anyone who says that merely speaking about something causes an 'unsafe environment' should lose their right to vote, never mind run for office of any kind. Because clearly, their emotional fragility puts them below the minimum needed to be considered an adult.1 point

Put yourself on the other side of the barricaded doors, trapped, with little course of retreat, as a howling mob is breaking through to get to you and tell me you don't feel threatened. It's like a farking zombie movie. You are simply lying when you say she didn't threaten anyone. There are many reasons why it's impractical to arrest someone in the middle of a mob trying to break through the doors, but you'd rather armchair quarterback the situation than listen to anyone who was actually IN the situation--including the Republican legislators the officer was protecting, who were grateful for being saved. Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla."They were trying to come through the front door, which is where I was at in the chamber, and in the back they were trying to come through the speaker's lobby, and that's problematic when you're trying to defend two fronts," Mullin told ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos in an interview Thursday on "Good Morning America." Mullin said police "showed a lot of restraint" and "did the best they could." ... "When they broke the glass in the back, the (police) lieutenant that was there, him and I already had multiple conversations prior to this, and he didn't have a choice at that time," Mullin said. "The mob was going to come through the door, there was a lot of members and staff that were in danger at the time. ..."That young lady's family's lives changed and his (the officer's) life also changed," Mullin said. "But what also happened is that mob that was trying to go through that door, they left. And his actions will may be judged in a lot of different ways moving forward, but his actions I believe saved people's lives even more. Unfortunately, it did take one though." Pretty easy for you to be brave from the comfort of your keyboard years later. Sure, you know better than the people who lived through it. ?1 point

She certainly was threatening. And I can’t understand whether you are just extremely foolish or if you’re just playing games. The cops were on one side of a barricade, with the US Congress. Babbit and thousands were on the other side of the barricade. Babbit was smashing through the barricade. How in heavens name do you arrest someone under those circumstances? Saying STOP definitely did not work. Should they take the barricade down and let the Congress get stormed? No, they could not do that. Ashlii knew EXACTLY what she was doing. She was violently storming the US Capitol. She knew that. She knew that the Congress was down the hall. She knew the police wanted her to stop and were telling her to stop. She got killed? Yeah, no kidding!1 point

ATTENDING CLASS is trespassing? Seriously? Maybe you should get your head out of THE VIEW'S ass and try reading some reliable sources. From the article: Arrested for holding Christian beliefs at a Christian school? Canadian Catholic high school student Josh Alexander claims that's the story behind authorities arresting – and charging – him for trying to attend class last month. Alexander was a student at a Canadian Catholic high school in Ontario until he spoke his mind over concerns of men in women's restrooms at the institution. Distinguishing men from women and believing God created only two genders, he suggested, eventually led authorities to arrest and charge him for the offense. Arrest a kid for ATTENDING CLASS, just because he quoted SCIENCE? Are you goose steppers REALLY that stupid? You probably would have arrested Galileo for suggesting the Earth is not the center of the universe.1 point

Yeah, for sure. As a soldier (presuming based on your nic) you have certain priorities and things associated with 'patriotism'. But For a shocking number of people the whole Canadian identity involves NOT being nice to the military. You see - we're "peacekeepers". Peace keepers don't need guns and tanks and planes! What's wrong with you? And we're a PEACEFUL nation - peaceful nations don't prepare for war! Every single penny we spend on the military is a failure on our part as a PEACEFUL nation you see. Our whole persona as a country is wrapped up on that. So actually the MORE patriotic a canadian feels, the MORE they're likely to be less excited about a well equipped military. Most want our guys to have good boots and warm clothes and eat good food but that's pretty much where it ends. If their tanks and trucks and stuff don't work - well hell we GAVE them the good boots soooo..... So gov'ts spend far less on the miliary and more on things that REALLY matter to Canadians, like lesbian dance theory research. And the CBC. (same thing really.) Sorry - probably not the answer you were looking for. But this was a thing born in the late 60's early 70's in the era of vietnam and Cyprus, and it's pretty ingrained1 point

Canada is probably too far gone now, because the average person in Canada is scared to say what they think at work or in school now. Basically Canada is run by the radical left across all parties. It's not out of nowhere. I'm *watching* you lie about the coverage in post after post. 1. Is it a fact? Or is it more of your fabrication? Police didn't release footage of the robbery until 6 days after the shooting. Do you have a very special TV? Or are you not telling the truth? 2. Despite what FOX told you about the MSM, it is definitely NOT a fact that the MSM chose to ignore his alleged crime. For example, what do you think was airing on your 2nd favorite network, CNN, on the day it was released? Why, yes, it was the video of the alleged robbery. As a fan of fake news, you may not be used to real reporting, but the job is to cover the story as completely as possible. That means reporting on what people said about Brown, what witnesses said, and also what LEO said. That means *reporting* that his family described him as a gentle giant, and that police described him as a robbery suspect. That means *reporting* that witnesses claimed he had his hands up, and that other witnesses eventually came forward to describe him charging Wilson. As demonstrated, your factual claims are objectively false. As they underpin your narrative, it should be no surprise that it too is false. No "MSM went all in on" one side of the reporting. And even worse than misrepresenting the facts of the coverage, you attribute to news networks a malicious motive: to foster rioting. Which is ludicrous. Your entire worldview is built on FOX's culture war bullshit. You should unplug from that crap and rejoin reality1 point

Simple math lesson. Try to stay focused. NY Teachy pays property tax of 10k a yr on a house. Makes 120k yrly. Fla Teachy pays 1.5k property tax makes 70k. And the Fla numbers are generous. Is that equation understandable so far? This doesn't even bring into account the NY Teachys home will be worth a mil plus in any of the Burroughs and 650k in upstate Eeeeasy. Teachy in Fla pays off home after a lifetime and it's worth what. OK I'll be real generous here. 350k. Math doesn't lie. The Repulican right wing noise machine which your mesmerized by does.1 point

Exactly. He's in prison for obstruction of official government proceedings. That description dramatically undersells the gravity of what happened that dark day, but the notion that excerpted footage is exculpatory is pure nonsense.1 point

I read about the accusations against Tucker in someone's link, earlier in the thread. Read it for yourself if you'd like to comment. I never told a single lie about M Brown, and it's weird for you to just make that accusation as a blank statement, without even attempting to describe those 'lies'. 1) It's a fact that there was video of M Brown's violent crime on national TV right on the day he was shot 2) It's a fact that the MSM chose to ignore his crime, which was caught on video that they had access to, and instead chose to go all-in on the "gentle giant' narrative even though they knew it was false. The media couldn't possibly be any more dishonest than that They essentially chose violent riots over the truth.1 point
