the constitution only invokes a right to protest against the government it doesn't extend to protesting the activities of private citizens even if you think something unlawful was going on you don't have a right to disrupt those activities on your own volition in fact, "Drag Queen Story Hour" is what is protected as that is constitutionally protected free speech3 points
-
Well that's simply not true in the slighest. The gov'ts are bound by the charter and constitution which forbid exactly the kind of prejudice that you're discussing. THat's why trudeau needed to go for the emergrency powers act. Further this isn't even a 'group' - this is just a topic. Unless the feds pass a law declaring it a hate crime to discuss this (and good luck with that) you can't just decide that one TOPIC or another is verboten.2 points

on the issue of grooming all parents are grooming their children to be something if a parent is want to groom their child to be a Drag Queen ? I can't see how that is unlawful in of itself if the parent is forcing their child to be a Drag Queen against the will of the child that falls under the mandate of the Children's Aid Society2 points

In the past, such European cities existed. Now, they don't. In Asia, such cities still exist. Yet in North America, such a city still exists. ==== A city where unilingual people live side by side.1 point

https://www.foxnews.com/media/abortion-groups-silent-pro-life-advocates-condemn-jane-fondas-murder-suggestion-the-view "We have experienced many decades now of having agency over our body, of being able to determine when and how many children to have. We know what that feels like, we know what that’s done for our lives," Fonda said. "We’re not going back, I don’t care what the laws are. We're not going back." When asked by co-host Joy Behar what can be done "besides marching and protesting," Fonda replied, "Well, I've thought of murder." Sparking laughter at the table, Behar insisted to viewers Fonda was "just kidding," which prompted a long glare from the Hollywood icon. And you can't play the "she was just kidding" card. If a Republican said those same words, you'd be screaming bloody murder.1 point

1. You folks are the ones who inflame things. I don't care if you wanna slap on some heals, wear a wig and do your makeup. You cross the line when you start giving kids lap dances and demand the rest of us shut up about it. 2. The kid did nothing wrong. You folks just need to accept the fact that people disagree with you and stop acting like tyrants1 point

Reason started this thread, did you expect a different title? What's nexxt from our resident mental case: Leftists Arrest Clifford Olson For Giving Candy To Children1 point
-
Getting back to reality and ignoring the obvious brain farts some people are having, obviously the kid was banned and arrested because of his opinion (regardless of the mechanism). Our laws on free speech are becoming a little too weak. This kind of thing will fuel hatreds, not suppress them.1 point

Well seeing as you are being so technical seeing as i was originally speaking of the headline (gave you the benefit of the doubt) then reading the subject line does not show where "They" said it was either. So you're still wrong. And still look dumb. Seriously you are NOT coming across as very intelligent in this thread. You've done better.1 point

He never shot anyone. He tried going back to school to finish his studies which are a RIGHT in this country. You are dishonest and scum of the earth type for denying children an education1 point

but the National Socialists outlawed cross dressing under Paragraph 183 of their Criminal Code, so I'm not clear as to who you are accusing of being the Nazis here1 point

It is my understanding that the "United Church of Christ" in the US has no relationship or similarity to the United Church of Canada. I may be wrong about that, but that is my understanding. We need to educate people on why some people are transgendered. I see demonstrations on this forum every day that many people have no understanding of the differences between transgender, cross dressing, drag and transvestitism.1 point

it's not for me to say how any other Christian worships that would be Popery and I am a Protestant in terms of "transgenderism" it is not mentioned in the Bible at all that I can see, it doesn't appear in any scripture apparently the ancient Christians had no position on it either way so I don't know what I would invoke as a proscription against it Jesus did however throw Himself between a prostitute and an angry mob wanting to stone her so He was clearly against mobs taking it upon themselves to punish what they viewed as being immoral1 point
-
It's not like the United Church believes in God anymore. Or the bible. Or... anything. I don't think it's ever not going to be controversial to tell six-year-old girls they might just be boys, or vice versa, or encourage ten or twelve year-olds to change genders while keeping it secret from parents. I'm with this chick on the subject. I suspect the proliferation of this sort of nonsense is likely to put Trump or a Trump substitute in the White House in a couple of years.1 point

That's very true but that only applies to the action of the business. He's just distracting you, people have the right to protest anything they want. There is NOTHING anywhere in the charter or constitution that suggests people can only protest the gov't. The charter and the constituton are binding on the gov't and forbids the gov't from interfering with lawful protest. If the business (or the gov't) feel a specific protest is unlawful they can take it to a judge. Assuming the OP's information is correct this is just more cancel culture bullshit1 point

Exculpatory my ass. The man stood on the speaker’s podium of the US House of Representatives after violently forcing Congress to flee for their safety. Gimme a break.1 point

Yes and no - and for the vast majority of countries it's always been illegal. There is influencing and then there is interference. I did a post not long ago comparing the russian efforts in the US elections with the Chinese efforts. it's night and day. You cross a line at a point and the americans have not, the russians haven't that we know of, the chinese appear to have done so. It's not 'normal'. That's like saying murder is "normal" so we shouldn't complain about it. It happens but it is not to be tolerated nor is it the 'normal' course of events. Well you would be wrong. There's actually zero evidence that the united states gov't puts funding into or attempts to get leverage over any of our politicians. And if such evidence DOES emerge then they should be 'singled out' every bit as much. But every candidate isn't receiving large amounts of money in violation of the act. Nor are they having their aids arranged to be agents of another gov't. Nor are they being pressured if they have family in that other country. If you have evidence that they are you should put it forward. We DO have evidence of that from China. There is a fundamental difference between doing business with china and letting them buy our elections. Harper did business with china, but he also called them out on human rights issues and met with the Dalai lama and did a bunch of other things in their face. When they complained he told them to suck our oil. Doing business with someone actually gives you some power over them. But this is something completely different. You are correct tho that it's up to us, the voters have to toss the libearls out over this and elect gov'ts who are willing to dig into it and get to the bottom of it.1 point

Ohhh Dougie - like i said if someone has to explain what honor is to you - you haven't got it and it's probably not worth the effort to try to explain it to you. You just carry on pretending - it'll let you sleep at night1 point

Everybody wants to stop others from expressing themselves. Things are getting stupid. I might take my kids to drag story time, but probably not. It's become a culture war fight, where people fight so they can fight and I don't want to expose my kids to that. This ridiculous controversy will pass soon.1 point

Well of course you do. But honestly if you have to explain to someone how honour works, they're probably never going to have it, so i won't waste your time trying to go over it. You just worry about william. I'm sure you'll be fine.1 point

Can you read? the Federal judge ruled that Tucker Carlson’s viewers KNOW that he is lying to them. Just… read dude. READ. Educate yourself from facts. I linked to the actual written opinion of the judge, not from a news outlet or another talking head. Primary source. Read it for yourself. Tucker Carlson is not “the news.” He is an entertainment TV show who lies to his viewers. Not only do you have his sworn deposition to that effect, you also have his text messages saying that he hates Donald Trump and he did not believe Trump’s claims of a stolen election at all. He knew them to be fake. He said so. Yet you still stare at the TV and believe the man. You only think he’s lying when he tells you he’s lying.1 point

Did you hear all that on FOX News? As usual, you want people to grant your false narrative as a premise and then debate some other topic for which it is a dependency. Sounds super fun. You lying about the Michael Brown coverage is a pretty poor distraction from the explicit proof that FOX deliberately lies to and manipulates it's audience. This isn't news to the rest of us, but for FOX devotees it's surely jarring. This may help.1 point

Sure. So you keep saying. We have a name for when people think like you in the writing world - bad character development. Anyway, nobody says you have to be a good Canadian, you can dishonor whatever duties you like in favour of the ones you do in this land. Now - if you don't mind the Canadians are talking here.1 point

Dude, you gotta put people like that on ignore. He's never going to add anything to the conversation, all he's good for here is lying and name-calling. It seems like the leftists here only have one goal, and that's to stop this thread from being overloaded with evidence. As long as you're talking to guys like that about who's a poopyhead, the conversation isn't moving fwd. None of those clowns will ever address the video of Chadsley's lawyer saying that the DOJ withheld exculpatory evidence. They're here to talk about anything but that. So let's have conversations about things like that. Find some other interesting video and post that.1 point

Indeed. And those are the countries who are faring better than the ones who went insane with fear and panic. In the end, Sweden protected more lives and saved more jobs. Sweden remained true to its political traditions and democratic values. And they did it in the face of international scorn. By Sweden's independent actions, based on scientific evidence instead of abstract "models" driven by fear, Sweden strengthened the crucial bond of trust between government and citizens. This part of the Swedish example may turn out to be the most important achievement a government could accomplish during the covid event. The government trusted the Swedish people instead of trying to bully them. The people trusted their government to protect them without trying to run their lives and trampling their freedoms, without intimidating police actions and without imposing outrageous fines on people already hurting. Sweden did not deprive citizens of freedom of expression or the freedom to earn a living. They allowed people to care for their loved ones and associate freely. They didn't decide it was an "opportunity" to ruin regions or industries they didn't agree with politically. Without abusive power-grabbing or giving unchecked power to any one government official, let alone the entire government. They showed the world that a democracy can deal with threats in moderate ways and that they don't need to resort to undermining those democratic foundations of society in response to such a low-level threat. Maintaining that trust - between government and citizens - is critical to healthy liberal democracies. It's a lesson lost on Canadian politicians and sadly, on most Canadians, as well.1 point

You seem to live in some kind of MAGA fantasy land. Babbitt was NOT killed for trespassing. She was a certified loon at the vanguard of a howling mob that was *literally* breaking through barricaded doors to get to the legislators on the other side. Those officers were, again, literally, the last line of defense between our elected officials and the mob. It's difficult to imagine a more justified shooting, and indeed multiple investigations determined the that the officer acted appropriately. It's a shame when metal health issues and/or extreme stupidity lead to violence and death, but Babbitt absolutely earned her fate and her death may have saved many other lives.1 point

It's even worse than this because when comparing us to most other nations we're ignoring much of the high cost of the public healthcare system. That cost is at the provincial level and provincial debt is not included in the calculation and comparison to other nations. Yet most other nations' healthcare expenditures are at the national level and are included in their numbers. On total government debt Canada is at 134% of GDP. That's not quite as bad as the US, but they have a lot of financial options, levers and abilities we lack. The UK is at 120% and they don't seem to be doing well. Australia is at 84%. Germany is at 77%. And those wonderfully efficient Swiss are at 41%. Of course, the Italians and Greeks are worse than us, as are the Japanese. But all the well-run Nordic countries are much lower than we are. And yet the Liberals brag about our low debt to GDP level. We're the 34th best out of 41 developed nations! Woo hoo!1 point
