The Norwegians finally got their economic act together thanks to petroleum development, after decades of agricultural failures and other challenges. Norwegian immigrants to the U.S. numbered north of 900,000 at one time. Norway was the largest per-capita recipient of U.S. Marshall Plan funding after WW2. Today, the number of new annual Norwegian immigrants, residents, or naturalized citizens numbers less than 1,000. India > Philippines > China > Vietnam > South Korea > Pakistan Canada pays a net migration tax in numbers, as landed immigrants seek true economic love elsewhere once establishing permanent residency and citizenship. About 10% of Canadian citizens do not reside in Canada by choice, a relatively high number.2 points

What immigration from the third world does is help the Liberals get re-elected. That's why they want to bring in a million immigrants over three years. They've been in power most of Canada's history and this is probably one reason why.2 points

Actually, Europe has still remained a steady source of naturalized U.S. citizens year over year...more than from South America and similar to Africa. In 2019, about 11,000 Canadians became U.S. citizens. The U.S. has more landed immigrants than any other country in the world...the vast majority are not "plutocrats". Table 21. They aren't just a symbol. They have real constitutional powers even though they hardly ever use them. Like a good weapon system, just the threat is insurance against their use.1 point

No, but it does rank up there with the worse example.1 point

I think you could also use it as an example that the system is sound, and if Trump could not screw with it , nobody can with out getting a response from the people. After all there was a hand over of power, regardless of trumps antics.1 point

yeah, but when are we going to have REAL freedom? when are we going to get rid of stop signs, speed limits, seat belt and drunk driving laws?! god, i could go on and on at the number of communist plots to control our freedom and minds! really, if you think about it... not wearing a silly mask is such a small victory.1 point

I still don't see how they are a benefit for us to spend any money at all. They are just a symbol. I don't accept the scary dictator argument. I don't see that happening. I prefer not to have some expensive, unelected symbol at the top. It makes no sense to me. There are dozens of well functioning democracies around the world, without the need of some archaeic b.s. symbol, that brings no benefit to today's society.1 point

Monarchy as a foundation of democracy. Interesting paradox for philosophy discussion but how would it work in practice? Can citizens change their democratic system if they wished or they could not? There's only two options and only one means a democracy.1 point

De-fanged military and an unarmed populace . . . . .truly a nation of stupids.1 point

Not just Republicans Beave. IIRC Jimmy Carter was the last POTUS not to have a war. History isn't your strong suit, but then, what is, aside from lying. So much stupidity, I'm not sure where to begin. For starters, you're going back decades to come up with a handful of incidents. There were as many muslim terrorist attacks during the 8 years of Obama's presidency. In Charlottesville, the Heather Heyer incident wasn't a terrorist attack - the driver sped off when someone in that angry mob hit his window with a bat. Also, Trump didn't refer to anyone involved in violence there are very fine people. You're just so stupid that you keep saying the same thing even though it's been explained to you many times. Hatred of Jews is a Dem phenomenon. You can't really blame the killing of Jews in America on Trump, he's overly supportive if anything. It's actually 100% true and you know it. Cry me a river. So painfully, brutally stupid. Lmao. I believe it was brutality against Timpa, and against Floyd, and there's no reason to suggest otherwise. It's not hilarious at all. It's sad. You got sucked in by literally every single moronic CNN narrative of the past ten years, and even with the benefit of hindsight you're oblivious. I didn't think it was possible.1 point

I think if you're a leader of a federal party like Jagmeet is you need to tread lightly around this issue because you're talking about an institutional that underpins the very foundations of the state and the position he holds. It seems like he may not know much about our institutions like most Canadians. I blame our education system for that. He claims to be a republican rather than a monarchist. That is a very bold position for a federal leader.1 point

Most doctors dont say that and Parler was shut down before Biden took office because right wing Trump terrorists were using it to plan attacks including the attack on the Capitol and Parler refused to do anything about it.1 point

Well there is very good odds she does not have any sexual harassment complaints levied against her, that is a good thing. How well she has been vetted may be another question. I don't know her or of her, but her medal count is very telling, she has not been posted to any operation, or over seas postings... and this is a very important consideration I know privates that have more medals. But again the last 2 losers had a chest full of medals but could not keep thinking with their dicks... I hope she is good and has a huge pair of ladies balls , right now the Military needs strong leadership and direction. Every military member is entitled to good leadership, and strong leaders, it is not a want, it is a requirement and a big responsibility, i hope she is up to it. I also hope this is not just some liberals' attempt at window dressing because it's 2015 baby. Leaders welcome military's first female deputy commander, demand action on misconduct (msn.com)1 point

Especially in the view of the recent revelations it must be obvious to anyone how's outdated entrenched and aristocratic institution must be absolutely essential to a dynamic and functional democracy in the 21st century.1 point

There's nothing Jagmeet Singh says or does that's relevant to anything in Canadian politics. He's irrelevant, his party is irrelevant. He's just a store mannequin sitting there taking up space.1 point

You forgot to mention the fact it has the second largest population. Kind of key, don't you think? New York, Illinois, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, New Jersey, Tennessee, Michigan, Indiana, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Alabama and Louisiana all have higher death rates per million than Texas. And that's the stat that matters. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/1 point

And if China hadn't lied and WHO hadn't perpetuated that lie Europe could have protected itself. And now Biden is going "Kissy, Kissy, let's make up" with both of them - China and WHO.1 point
