Are you sure about that? Cause some of the policies that were put in place certainly suggests otherwise. I'm living with someone who experienced, first hand, "what our ancestors did." You only need to feel bad about your cluelessness if you refuse to learn more about the way "our aboriginals" were treated, both by government policy and societal attitudes. Government policy may have changed some, but societal attitudes need a lot more work when people still think that what happened was generations ago and "they should be over it" by now.

No this is not about isms. Everything that is wrong with the royal attitudes in this country at least is right before our eyes if we can see, though. From the news today, "in Prince Rupert, BC population 10,000 the authority plans to complete vaccination in JUST several weeks" (several means up to ten otherwise an exact number would be given and why wouldn't it? - M.). Now, anyone can do simple math: 5 min per shot, with a 10 min break per hour is 80 patients per nurse per regular shift. 10 nurses, 800 patients. Fifty nurses, 4 thousand. Yes but this is not our regular annual flu vaccination but one-in-a-lifetime pandemics so perhaps once only, and for only one day the regular shift can be extended by say, 50%? What do we get then: we get that the complete vaccination can be done in just 2 (two) days. And no, this not just some abstract faraway math. The neighbors to the south are doing 1.3 million shots daily, an equivalent of 130 thousand in Canada and at that rate we would be some 1/3 of the way by NOW. That's not how our royal bureaucracy thinks and acts though. And there's no kidding or irony as quotes are long gone from "public" czars and mandarins running their clumsy and inept empires. And that of course explains minor hiccups like the Phoenix system and travel from Wuhan. And it sure shows in the quality of life, even under the togetherness muzak. So good luck with the best quality of life in this, 21st century. I'm not expecting any miracles here.

It's very snobby for us to be commenting on who other people fall in love with. At the end of the day, it's no one's business who wealthy people choose to love. You haven't bothered to address the fact that the secular republics of the Middle East - Syria, Iraq and to a lesser extent - Turkey (after the despicable conduct of their still reigning president - Erdogan and his Islamist talking political party) did not expel or ethnically cleanse Christians or Jews, or any other religious minority sects, including 'infidel' Islamists like the Alawites. During the era of the Caliphates - Arab and later Turkish Ottoman empires, they applied taxes on Christians and Jews. But, if you bother to crack open a source from the other side, you will find out that the reason was because Christians and Jews were not trusted to serve in the Caliph's armies...which was regarded as a religious obligation for young Muslim men. So, a tax was applied on them instead. Worth noting that near the end of the Ottoman Empire...in the 1840's, the Government repealed all of the 'Jizya' taxes on Christians and Jews. I could add that it was your good Christian crusaders who caused genocides as they marched to the 'Holy Land' in the middle ages. Even sacking Constantinople during the 4th Crusade ....because they were the wrong kind of Christians - Orthodox... did not accept the Roman Pope! Regarding your other 'throwing crap at the wall to see what will stick' points - Arab attacks on India were not much different than the prior armies of Rome or the even previous Alexander The 'Great'. Sure they could dress it up as a holy cause in defense of the faith and the one true god, but how is that different than the Christian terraforming of the world over the centuries? Canada should recognize Taiwan (The Republic of China) as a country and pursue closer ties and free trade with Taiwan. The Republic of China is a wonderful freedom loving country where gay people are even allowed to get married. Better yet, kick gay-killing Brunei out of the TPP and replace it with Taiwan. Tsai Ing-Wen is a wonderful president and it's a shame that we continue the Trudeau-Senior policy of ignoring the Republic of China and pretend they don't exist.
