So with the blockades of railroad crossings and entrances to government buildings across the country, we are seeing an alliance between radical environmentalists and unelected leaders of a tribe, the Wet’suwet’en. The protests are against a natural gas pipeline that has already been approved by the elected chiefs of the 20 bands in the contested area. These unelected chiefs who do not support Canadian law because they don’t recognize Canada are supported by anti-pipeline environmentalists. They do not recognize that transporting oil and natural gas by pipelines is safer and cleaner than doing it by rail or truck. They want to “shut down” Canada, yet there is no clear platform. No doubt they want severe restrictions on fossil fuels and extremely high carbon taxes, but not for the Wet’suwet’en people, who they think should pay no taxes and carry on living with all the comfy carbon-based amenities on a racially pure land, exclusive of non-Indigenous people and free of pipelines. Is this not part of the same trend we’re seeing in places like Hungary, where the Greens propose carbon taxes for the workers to pay for an exclusive, ethnically pure state? Thoughts?1 point

Listened to some CBC news this afternoon so heard from one of the BC Native MLAs , Ellis Ross, who spoke out in favour of the pipeline. He said it brings jobs and prosperity and has allready lifted them above the poverty line. I wish I could find the clip of this but can't find it, maybe it's too early. Meanwhile Trudeau wants us to patient and wait, but he's such a child, now he won't allow Scheer to be part of the cabinet talks.1 point

Trudeau delivers more meaningless platitudes about dialogue and sharing while the protestors give him the middle finger. Even the Mohawk chief has said the blockade should end, but those boys are having fun and they've got Trudeau in a box. No doubt they think they can squeeze a few million out of him to let the trains go on. Trudeau's words later were kind of indicative of his personality when he decided to hold a meeting with opposition leaders - but not Andrew Scheer, the leader of the opposition. He said Scheer disqualified himself because of his 'unacceptable speech'. I know Trudeau deeply admires China's basic dictatorship but he doesn't get to say anyone's speech is unacceptable because it isn't up to him to accept it or not. https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/trudeau-on-the-blockades-we-need-to-find-a-solution-and-we-need-to-find-it-now?video_autoplay=true1 point

No big surprise...Canada was already an epic FAIL for Kyoto. Just add Paris to the list.1 point

My understanding is that the grenade was thrown after the American troops could safely approach the building to determine is there were any terrorists left alive. Khadr was the only one alive - logically, it was only he who could have thrown it. This makes sense because Speers was a medic and would not have been approaching the building at any other time except after the firefight. EDIT: No, I'm mistaken, I was thinking of another case. Nevermind.1 point

Well it's all about the Mohawks now and the Wet'suwet'ens for and against the line are being left to twist in the wind as the focus has now turned to the Eastern rail blockades. This isn't about a pipeline anymore it is about one Indigenous group unsupported by a majority of their own people who have taken the law into their own hands in a so-far very successful attempt to bring our nation to grinding halt. And no one in any level of government has the balls to say enough is enough.1 point

Good question about the Mohawks, scribblet. Not their land under question. Not their decision about the line one way or the other. Totally superfluous to the issue. Their entrance into the protests/blockades has nothing to do with supporting the so-called hereditary chiefs for all their hollow words and poorly made signs. It is solely based on self-interest and the goal of causing as much economic chaos to the country as possible. If they had an iota of care or compassion for the Wet'suwet'en people, they would not be holding up essential goods and services to the community by blockading rail lines. Woos is absolutely right. The RCMP are staying along the right of way as the injunction dictated - to maintain law and order and safe passage for the Coastal Gaslink employees - over a 1000 of them being Wet'suwet'en.1 point

The trouble with people like eyeball is that he thinks that all conservatives have to be right wingers or in their own words, a bunch of Nazi's, or white supremos, and all are just plain racists. These lefty liberals are a joke and a half. We both are conservatives, and we are not Nazi's or racists. Although with him, no matter what we say we will never convince him that we are not racists. These lefty liberals think that by calling us Nazi's and racists that they are going to somehow be able to try and scare us from posting here, and that we will run away and hide like most lefty liberals always do themselves. Good luck with that!1 point

So Trudeau stands up today and says that he understands the frustrations and impact of rail blockades, but all must have more understanding and patience. He dares not call the blockades "illegal", because that would mean somebody should be enforcing the "rule of law". Oka was 78 days, but it was warm weather...how long can this one go ?1 point

Indeed, the larger strategic paradigm is that Canada is dead, and all attempts to reanimate the corpse of Confederation will fail. That being said, once Canada's new Asiatic Overlords complete their takeover, they will put a bit of stick about, they will give the RCMP their marching orders through proxies1 point

Bear in mind this $6 billion GasLink pipeline is only part of a larger $40 billion project. $22 billion in revenue for BC and Ottawa For Canada, that's real money, they can't afford to just let this one go.1 point

Agreed. But anything done about warming needs to include China and India. But under the Paris Accord they're allowed to increase emissions until 2030. So basically the earth will be spinning it's tires for another 10 years.1 point

Your own video lies No legitimate scholar thinks the gospels were written by four guys named Mathieu, mark, luke and john, but were written by anonymous scribes,in fact the first gospel was written at least 40 years after Jesus, and "Luke" is estimated around 90 years after "christ", so the videos claim of eyewitnesses is patently false. The reference to pascals wager is also just a tool to distract from the fact that the "God" of the bible has no morals Referencing other historical figures is again misleading, as these other people have outside sources saying the same thing, Jesus has the bible and only the bible, Josephus claimed only that people said they believed, but never gave any contemporaneous evidence to support it. Not to mention simple objective truths the bible gets wrong for example 1 Kings 7:23 says pi is 3, if it can't get simple math correct, Why would anyone trust this book for internal salvation?1 point

Just a little technical point: there are NO vessels capable of carrying 4mm bbls at one time. There WAS one, long ago scrapped, and there are only two remaining ULCCs at 3mm. The normal size is VLCCs that are either 1mm or 2mm. Anything larger has too much draft to use the English Channel.1 point

"Nature-worshipping"? You don't need to 'worship' anything about nature to rationally recognize that the Earth is relatively limited in a way that prevents wishful thinking to assure it doesn't get destroyed by its inhabitants in a fair convention. If you believe your own denial about human intervention as being POSSIBLE, are you saying that no matter what we do, we cannot destroy OUR comfort in this world collectively? Are you saying, for instance, that it isn't possible for any HUMANS to deliberately start all the forests on fire, or set off a nuclear war, or do ANY intentional, let alone unintentional behavior, because some Supreme being would step in the way and save us all regardless? Pretend you are correct. Then is it not also justified that the majority who DO agree that global human intervention as causing problems, whether correct ot nor, should be permitted to disagree and force those of you who don't to comply by FORCE? I mean, if your 'god' will intervene anyways, why should you care THAT others disagree and use their free will to impose upon your selective carelessness? Or....is your 'god' just not so powerful after all? Religious interpretation of anything written at all is NOT 'critical thinking' because it fails on the assumption that IF one such paticular book's contents is absolutely true, what is the means to assert anything written down in any other book or scripture is 'false'?1 point

So basically we stop most industry and resource extraction, tax the hell out of existence, because everything we do requires production, which at best requires electricity in order to provide the level of power needed to maintain the lifestyle to which we’re accustomed. Energy production will have to go totally green. Transportation will go electric. Huge swaths of the country are turned over to pure Indigenous tribes as untaxed free land occupied by untaxed people who also receive government funding of health, education, and key infrastructure. No non-Indigenous allowed. Everyone else is expected to pay for this arrangement despite the fact that tribes displaced tribes and seldom had there been a notion of private property and permanent settlement among most tribes. Indigenous can make their own deals with businesses, getting a cut of the wealth without having to disclose the amount or give anything back to the wider society or their own communities. It’s a story of victimhood, carried into other intersectionalities: gender, sexual orientation and sexual identity. The biggest victim gets the most points and the workers pay for the scheme in higher taxes. I like what the manifesto says on redesigning communities and providing widespread rapid transit, but not much else This is mostly about redistribution of wealth towards selected races and hollowing out Canada’s industrial capacity and resource extraction, letting other countries get the proceeds, and living a subsistence lifestyle because the cost of living skyrockets for the unprivileged mass of workers. Yup, Green Fascism. https://leapmanifesto.org/en/the-leap-manifesto/1 point

You polled the Mohawks and Wetsuwetin on the picket lines? You got them to identify as far-left ideologically? See, I worked with lots and lots of Natives in mines and for nearly 30 years on structural steel and most of those guys were pretty conservative. Most of the guys I worked with wouldn't trust far-left activists any farther than they could toss them. Give it a moment's thought. Most of the Natives I worked with wanted no part of any ideological political partisanship. Hell, lots of them from the Six Nations didn't consider themselves Canadian or American.1 point

The main thing about the Norman case in relation to these protests is that it proves that the PM is lying when he says the police can't be ordered around by the politicians. Clearly they can when you need to shut Mark Norman up, they just aren't being directed to do so against protestors, since those protestors are the Liberals base.1 point
-
I was never a Mark Norman fan because he banned drinking in the navy over some sailors getting a little drunk in Florida which then got reported in the media. He kind of got caught in his own brand of crackdown actually, he got thrown under the bus the way he threw people under the bus himself. Thing is, the whole military is like that, everybody throws everybody under the bus at the slightest hint of controversy, the office politics are toxic. In terms of the particulars as to the corruption, I think the general gist of it is pretty obvious, so I don't need anymore detail to make my judgements.1 point
-
In your opinion, is there any way the taxpaying public could find out the details/payouts/greased palms/etc.of this sordid affair? Was Mark Norman an honorable man - would it be dis-honorable to speak of his inquisition? Just asking . . . .1 point

No kidding the country is in deep dod-doo. When a bunch of eco terrorists anti-pipeline communist thugs can pretty much get away with almost shutting down a whole country like Canada, you have to know that there is really something seriously wrong with this Canadian picture. I believe that this present day government of Trudeau and his liberal ilk are indeed trying to de industrialize Canada. It is not Quebec that is trying to make and keep Canada great, it is the people of western Canada that is trying to help make and keep Canada great. It is Quebec and the politicians from Quebec that are in Ottawa who have done more harm to Canada and not a dam thing to try and make this country stay afloat. Trudeau likes to take our tax dollars and blow them on all of his pet peeve socialist and liberal programs and agendas that are and have not done a dam thing for Canada or Canadians and never will. On the contrary that buffoon has tried all his best to try and destroy this once great British/European nation and try to turn it into an unrecognizable British/European foreign country. Canada is indeed in trouble when a bunch of anti-pipeline radical communists can disrupt a country and be allowed to get away with it for weeks. Shocking indeed.1 point

Canada certainly appears to have become an "undead" country. We can only thank our dear leaders for that. They have encouraged and allowed lawlessness in this country because they have pretty much tried to push their many socialist programs and agendas on we the constantly screwed people that nobody ever asked for. They have now caused great division among the many different new ethnic people in this country because of their many stupid and pathetic pet peeve leftist liberal programs like diversity and multiculturalism. Instead of minding their own dam business, they have gotten themselves involved and have intruded into our every day affairs and they keep trying to make us conform as to how and what they believe in and that they have the only answer and must be listened too and obey without question. Things can change for the better. It only takes a willingness on we the people to start giving a dam about what is going on in this country and demand change. The politicians do not know better. It is the people who know better and what is good for the country. We are not all a bunch of dummies out there in Canada land. The private sector knows what to do and will do it well. A bigger government is not the answer to anything. It just creates more problems for all. If they did, this country should be one of the wealthiest countries on earth and all the people should be filthy rich. Our Canadian dollar(peso)would never be as low as it is. But all we ever get from these politicians is more taxes, more government, more red tape, and constant attacks on our right to our free speech. If some people get offended over what someone else says, well too bad for them. Go cry themselves a river in the corner somewhere. Learn to live with offensive insults. I have all my life, and I am none the worse for it. As they say, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me". Except maybe hurt my feelings and pride.1 point

DND is not for defense of the nation it's nothing more than an employment agency, even our procurement policies dictate for every dollar spent 1 offset dollar must be received, must be built in Canada regardless of cost, take a look at our ship building program, it could be reduced by half if we let foreign shipyards build our ships...Thats about 30 plus billion dollars, not accounting for inflation... it's all about corporate welfare..., you think the Irving's care about saving the nation some money....Thats the only reason we have a military...it's not about saving lives of it's soldiers, or foreign policy, it's about giving a politician the chance to play general and picking the equipment they think is the best for our nation, with no prior training or education... Canada has lost more capabilities than it can recover, a lot are vital to our nations defense and security, at the end of the day, they will cash in our lives to save a few dollars and not even blink... even if we wanted a military, it would be to costly to rebuild...we have NO, Airborne Regt, no self propelled arty, no air defense what so ever, we are extremely short on tanks, and IFV... helos. the entire armies fleet of trucks are rotting out, and they gave only replaced one out of 6 types, imagine they can not even replace trucks ….. fighters aircraft are over 40 years old, utility helos can't fly troops when they have all the armor installed, no attack helos, no scout helo's, ......., , we have no destroyers, no AOR's, still flying sea kings, shit we still have pistols from just after the second world war....the barrels are pretty much shot out, the list goes on and on....and on... it would be cheaper just to give up on our military.... give it a funeral, and let the US look after our sovereignty....1 point

The people who protest against fossil fuels have no idea how many of the things that they use every day come from petroleum products. Hempville would totally suck. WTF does this have to do with the price of tea in China? From right outta the "Look Who's Talking" dept... The vast difference is actually between what you think would happen to our economy and what actually would happen to our economy, while every other oil producing nation on earth just laughs at us. Fist off, all of the environmentalists who think that we'll make a noticeable change to the environment if we stop producing oil are just idiots (I'm not just talking about the hypocrites with the private jets and multiple houses either). The environmental impact will be like spit in the ocean. The main economic impact it will have is massively negative. Secondly, man-made climate change is bullshit. Overpopulation, overfishing, and pollution are bigger problems.1 point

Cool man. I saw your name over there. It sure is nice to know that there is at least another real and true conservative here on this website. I enjoy sparring with the "woke" ones here. It is truly an exercise in futility at times, but I am enjoying it. I have a right to my opinion and points of view just like they should be allowed to do also. I will not be silenced by them. Sadly, the feelings that I get from some members here is that I should have no right to my personal opinions and points of view. I must speak and be only "woke" or else. I guess that one must assume that they do not really believe all that much in freedom of speech, just their version of freedom of speech. I am "woke'" alright, just not their version of "woke". Aw well.1 point

The other thing is that the Liberals are in the middle of pandering for votes for the UN Security Council Seat. Three strategies to consider that have usually worked for me: 1) When responding to an exciting off topic adventure, always preface with an acknowledgement of same and urge the thread to get back on topic, endearing you forever to the mod(s)...well...at least for a minute or two. 2) Always weave some semblance of the actual topic into your response. 3) Resist the urge to gallop down the rabbit hole even further.1 point
