This wouldn't be as big an issue if Trudeau wasn't such a virtue signalling hypocrite, not only that he lied saying there were only 2 incidents, we now know there are 3 (that we know of). It's also about the Liberal tactic of digging up past Conservative transgressions which is coming back to bite them. Trudeau is a pathological liar. Live by the sword, die by the sword4 points

A third picture of Trudeau in blackface uncovered. Personally I don't think this is racist, given the context, but then I don't have the same standards as the progressive types - like Trudeau - who only need one instance of bad judgement somewhere in a person's history to judge someone as irredeemably racist forever. I can't help smile, though, at the irony of Trudeau being 'hoist upon his own petard'. And I would note that if a Liberal candidate had even one such instance surface in his or her past Trudeau would drop them like last month's poutine while giving a sanctimonious statement about how the Liberal party doesn't tolerate racism. And, of course, if these surfaced in the history of a Conservative, well, you can be sure he and his entire party would be rushing to condemn them as a white supremacist hatemonger. There is no forgiveness for stuff like this in the callout culture Trudeau enthusiastically embraces. But while I don't much care about the racism angle it does reinforce, to me, and I suspect to most world leaders who already are of the opinion that he's a shallow, virtue signaling fool, that this is not a serious person on any level. This guy goes around the world lecturing other world leaders, from China to Washington wrapped in a smug sense of superiority. As a result he's managed to alienate all the world's biggest and most influential countries. These pictures will just make them smirk. They will extend Canada's bad reputation, though, to a number of developing countries who, like Russia, China, India and the US, will now treat Canada with less respect. We've already seen that from the likes of Saudi Arabia and the Philippines. We'll see more of it if he is elected. https://ca.rogers.yahoo.com/news/justin-trudeau-brownface-scandal-005529763.html4 points

Do you think there are people who were going to vote for the Liberals but this incident made them change their minds? Surely no one can be that fickle. Nice timing though to discover that photo.3 points

He and his party have accused numerous people of being racist-how could he not expect these photos to be thrown back at him. The moment he began pointing the finger at others as racists for past comments and behaviour, he exposed himself. He knew these photos existed as did everyone else. Its called karma. He threw out crap and it was thrown back at him. What it shows is what you and I and everyone should know. He is a rich privileged sheltered boy with affectations that come from a privileged life where he was never challenged and could do no wrong and never grew up with anyone with a sun tan. What it shows is he is a privileged player no different than his father. His father drove around during WW2 in a motor cycle in Quebec wearing a WW1 German army helmet while his fellow Quebecers were dying in Europe fighting Germans. Justin one year after 9-11 was dressing up as some Arab story book character when he was 29. Also do note where his hands are. For someone who is so quick to call other racists and sexist oh do look where his hands are. He has skeletons. This just another example of his affectations and true self. For me what is far more serious is his conduct with Lavalin, his conduct with people in his own party who questioned him and his sense of privilege when he has engaged in ethical violations to name many issues of concern. The first concern is the deficit spending he has saddled the country with. He deserves the heat on this and Jagmeet Singh can now play the teary eyed victim to try manipulate votes. That won't work either. For those who heroworship Trudeau maybe its a wake up call who knows. When he told aboriginal peoples at a closed door fund raiser raising the issue of mercury poisoninhg, " thank you for your donations" and dismissed them rudely, he showed his true self-an arrogant, snot nosed rich boy playing politics but never far from the silver spoon which is permanently wedged up his buttocks.3 points

Even with a third photo surfacing of Trudeau's blackface routine, I have no doubt he will survive this and still win the election. Can anyone deny, even his most ardent fans, that Justin Trudeau brings hypocrisy to a whole new level?2 points

Mr Trudeau awakens to a new dawn. The irony is palpable. Greek theatre. How the mighty have fallen, and stuff.2 points

Looks like it was a hobby with Trudeau... He's hoisted on his own petard and sure has no moral authority to call names and condemn others for less. I agree that normally he shouldn't have to resign but because he has made himself a paragon of virtue he really should resign. We all know if this had been a conservative they would be demanding his head.2 points

Finding a comment in a book does not validate your comment: "the most popular tshirt for Muslims is a shirt that says "2030 - then we take over" You seem to have an agenda to smear Muslims by any way possible. This includes with your allegation above that you cannot back up.2 points

Will Justin Trudeau be excused for his "past mistakes" or will he be considered as a racist? Remember, as a Liberal, he could not get accused of a MeToo scandal according to many on the Left.1 point

I see this as maybe the biggest problem for Trudeau. He and his war room spent the last several weeks searching, micro-analyzing and weaponizing past comments, associations, and actions of his opponents and attacking them on social media and elsewhere with constant accusations of racist, white supremacist, homophobe, etc. based on actions of the past...knowing the whole time this was in his past and that it may possibly come out. He inferred continuously that people don't change their past views. This lays bare and exposes his monumentally shallow hypocrisy, and complete and total lack of self-awareness...for those who may not have been paying attention previously. As far as damage to his campaign, I think there are two angles where this has the potential to damage him. First, it demolishes his strategy of attacking his opponents with further accusations of racism etc...this strategy of his is now off the table barring any major headlines coming from the other parties. So he is going to have to pivot and change strategy, maybe even answer some questions with coherent answers. Second, and maybe most damaging, it will call into question his seriousness by voters who want to be represented by a mature adult. When people start thinking their leader is a joke or is seen by others to be a joke, that is a game-changer.1 point

So if a political defeat is framed, by Trump, as a rigged election. Would that warrant a violent response?1 point

You must be hard core liberal are you Scott, The liberal party of Justin and his merry band of lairs have made it a constant point to show the nation that THEY are going to do government differently, to be transparent, they have pointed out continually that the right is racist just for being the right...., they are quick to point out other candidates who's remarks or actions are not the norm or racist.... and yet today we find out it's not the right, but the left...I mean come on the liberals have had to release 3 candidates so far for racist remarks, more than any other party, and then this from the leader of the party, who yes proves he is a hypocrite, but also underlines that he is a liar for the hundredth time. lets not forget the #meto moments with complaints of unwanted behavior quickly swept under the carpet, and i'm sure there are others. But it also brings up the point once again, this type of behavior is not only tolerated by the left it is encouraged just look at all the liberals on this forum that are more than happy to stick up for the man and his actions, just like yourself, these type of values and morals are not the ones we want in a leader, let alone Canadian citizens.......The longer Justin is in power the more we begin to learn what he is truly made off … he is a man with more than one face and all of them are not Canadian This is not the first time the country has dealt with this Black face issue, most African Americans do find it racist, along with a lot of other races within the country....They don't give a shit what you or white people think about it...to them it is racist period...… why can't we just accept that ….it has been racist for decades now, long before our PM thought it would be cool to do so....no excuses... He likes to dress up, and these are just more examples of that, I wonder what kind of image does this portray on the world stage, does it make him look strong, charismatic, intelligent, honest, , with integrity.....no he makes him look weak, fragile, insecure, a push over....i'm sure for liberals these are good qualities, but on the world stage I don't think so... So liberals stop making excuses....we don't care any more....you not going to get any votes from the right...1 point

On another note, can anyone around here imagine themselves surviving the fine-toothed comb one has to endure to jump into politics? We seem to be heading towards some sort of bottleneck where everyone will have eliminated themselves from the running due to some past indiscretion, photo or controversial opinion. The list of indiscretions only seems to be growing in size and scope. Like a clock that's to tightly wound up something is going to break.1 point

For the 'theater of your mind' . . . . . visualize Donald Trump, or Vladimir Putin, or Stephen Harper, or Boris Johnson, or anyone else who's a Caucasian leader dressed-up in 'black face' . . . How embarrassing to have this vacuous fool representing our country. How embarrassing to have him re-elected.1 point

No. You made excuses for it. If Canadians started wearing t-shirts that said "2030 - Then Muslims are getting the boot!" you'd be singing a very different tune. It certainly wouldn't be...... .......then, would it?1 point

I personally don't think it's a huge deal. I don't think that the intention to be racist or mean in any way was there, and I really doubt that he knew it would be so offensive or hurtful to people. Did people get mad when the movie "white chicks" came out? Do white people get upset when black girls dye their hair blonde? I personally just don't think skin colour is a big deal. I do get that other people are upset by it, and it would be horrible if Trudeau acted like a criminal or a lesser person in some way while he was dressed up, but this wouldn't affect my vote at all. I'd be more concerned about the age of the woman/girl he's holding there. If that's a student, that's a scandal. I can see this having a huge effect on the election though. Even if this isn't enough to change people's votes, it's enough to let a whole bunch of voter apathy creep into the picture. It also stacks up with his treatment of Raybould and Philpot, in diminishing his knight in shining armour brand. That's officially toast now. When Lib voters get the chance to drive down, get in line, and cast a ballot, or have a shower and take their kids to sports or go to dinner with friends, the fact that they don't have the same level of resolve to vote for Trudeau will be front and center. The CPC voters will not be experiencing voter apathy. At all. Hopefully this is the final nail in the coffin for Trudeau's election chances.1 point

I can't reply on the other topic, but here is another source that talks about the popular Muslim t-shirt from Stockholm - "2030 - Then We Take Over": The book, "Religion, Terror and Error: US Foreign Policy and the Challenge of Spiritual Engagement" by Douglas M. Johnson. I guess if you choose to continue to believe that everyone is lying about this and that it's just a smear campaign against Muslims, that's up to you.1 point

Trudeau literally asked for this by being the God Emperor of Woke culture. Now will he be eaten by his own? Or will they forgive HIS indiscretion while burning witches elsewhere for MUCH less. We shall see.1 point

Third instance of Trudeau in blackface, looks like it was a hobby.1 point

You mean a comment like this, without citing, should go unchallenged? "the most popular tshirt for Muslims is a shirt that says "2030 - then we take over" You have a chance here to be noticed as a person with integrity by speaking out against bullshit and instead, you choose to apologize for it. Shame on you.1 point

James Bissett was once head of Immigration Canada. In today's Post he gives a pretty clear view on how to fix the asylum mess. Namely, get rid of the damn lawyers and the appointed refugee boards and turn the job over to professionals like other countries do. We provide a far greater access to our legal system than other countries, including paid legal advise, than the UN charter requires. We've also hugely expanded our definition of 'refugee', well beyond the UN definition. It is not necessary to have a quasi-judicial body such as the Immigration Refugee Board adjudicate refugee claims. These decisions should not be delegated to a board of politically appointed members responsible only to themselves, and who may, or may not, have the experience, training, or knowledge to render quality decisions about who is or is not a refugee. Furthermore, because it allows unlimited access to its deliberations, it has suffered with backlog problems from its inception and the current crisis is just another example. In most countries asylum decisions are made by professional refugee officers or judges. They have the background and expertise necessary to make quality decisions quickly. They can be located in various parts of the country thus improving and speeding up the asylum process. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/how-canada-can-actually-fix-the-migration-mess-on-its-borders1 point

Taxme thanks for the concern but I do not engage in oral intercourse, discourse or any other activity with any leftists that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Thanks for the concern. Actually he was not a closest socialist. He was neither right or left but he showed an understanding of urban development and its relation to the environment way ahead of his time and Mayors to the right and left of him ideologically followed many of his ideas precisely because they were so well balanced. He also was not a bad Minister of Health. You will find anyone hard pressed to say anything bad about him left or right of the spectrum. I liked him for his approach to the waterfront, the environment and how he could balance business development and environmental issues that clashed and could find a balanced approach for both. John Sewell, John Tory, Art Eggleton, Mel Lastman, David Miller, Barbara Hall, June Rowlands, Fred Beavis, all after him, respected him genuinely. You get that many different egos liking a guy he did something right. I met him once. He was talking to homeless people and others about urban development and they all respected him and he did not miss a beat in treating everyone down to earth. I know it was only a 5 minute conversation but he was retired and still open to talking to people and enjoyed our questions. His wife has dementia and he is dealing with that with grace. He also is a spokesperson for death with dignity a very difficult topic I have worked with so I think his help there is that he has been very very compassionate to people in pain and afraid to die with pain or dementia. I don't hero worship anyone but Montreal Canadiens former players and Diana Rigg when she wa Mrs. Emma Peel on the Avengers so relax. I will brush my teeth though.1 point

I don't understand why this bothers you - some cultural garments are extraordinarily beautiful. I have 2 saris that I love to wear and some Chinese jackets and dresses - I had a designer friend create a beautiful oriental cross-tie jacket that everyone compliments when I wear it. There are no "values" associated with most cultural clothing - no shaming of women just for being female. The hijab and burqa are exceptions. Hijabs can be beautiful too. When the woman is obviously wearing it by choice. When a hijabi woman is cowering behind a man, getting screamed at by him with 8 children in tow and he's not even helping her with the kids or the bags - then hijabs are not so beautiful to me.1 point

Can you note the title of this thread. A friend wants to know. I'm an otherwise centre-right conservative. Trump's behaviour is appalling and he doesn't even govern like a Conservative. The hypocrisy shown by his sycophants is galling. He's the race to the bottom of political discourse.1 point
