  1. I do sometimes think the reason some defend Islam no matter what it does is because they are sooooo against Western capitalism, influence or Western whatever and they find an ally in Muslims for that world-view. I was reading about how the LGBQT community in Europe at first stood up for Muslims, thinking "Hey, You're a minority and we're a minority, we should team up to right the wrongs in this country." Until Islamic leaders started calling for separate Sharia courts that would have the authority to stone gays to death. Yes - a wee bit of a surprise.

  2. Apparently the CBC doesn't like it when you refer to the EU as the 4th Reich. Too on point, I suppose...

  3. Yes, I was reading an article a while back by a Muslim reformer (I think Fateh, but I'm not sure....) who said we need to pay attention to weasel-y words like "As a Norwegian Muslim, I obey the laws of our country" or "As a Canadian Muslim, I don't agree with executing gays" because what they are saying is that as soon as Norway or Canada caves into Islam - they will be fully Muslim and our laws will not mean anything to them.

  4. They don't really. But I think the information I posted about Muslims in the UK - the vast majority of them want Sharia law with all its barbarity - THAT is the law they are loyal to.

  5. Who gives a crap if YOU think it's irrelevant? It's clearly very relevant to people who terrorize int he name of a religion. If a religion is telling its followers to hate and kill, then the religion is very relevant. Smarten up.

  6. Look at the demographic and immigration tends of the last 30-40 years. Immigration is increasing continually, and Chinese and South Asians will continue to immigrate here in very large #'s simply because those countries have over a billion people for us to choose the most educated migrants from. If there's not enough social cohesion in their integration, what happens when ie: there's so many Chinese in south-western BC sometime in the future that virtually all MP's in the region are Chinese, and most people there speak Chinese and live in this large Chinese ghetto...and then they start demanding things like language rights, and if the rest of Canada refused then they could demand sovereignty like Quebec. And then we could have South-Western BC succeed and form its own nation-state of some kind of democratic Chinese country. Many different groups in this country are segregating themselves within ghettos in our cities...because they want to be with their own kind and enjoy their own ethnic culture. We have already seen Sikh Punjabi's flock en masse to join the NDP and fund Jagmeet Singh's leadership campaign to get him elected leader, and Jagmeet has a history of pandering to Sikh separatists and sympathizing with Sikh terrorists like the Air India bomber. And we have already seen a lot of people show they won't vote for Jagmeet because of this and because he's a Sikh. Is this good for social cohesion? Is the Bloc Quebecois? We're heading down a dangerous road, and so is Britain, France etc. We all need to feel like we are all "Canadian", we all need to feel like we're part of the same "in-group" even if we have some differences, and we all need self-determination.

  7. I wouldn't worry about a war with Iran, the Americans are bluffing, the Pentagon is telling the Washington Establishment that America does not have a military option with Iran. Iran is more than the Pentagon can chew, and America doesn't have the Europeans on side, Iran would require a coalition of the willing with Europe providing half the forces, and Europe ain't gonna do it.

  8. I agree with most of this. It's not "anti-immigrant" what i'm saying, i have no problems with most immigrants, i have many friends who are immigrants. I have a problem with a country that does a poor job at maintaining a strong national identity, and has problems with unity because of it. The fact you call it "anti-immigrant" is the kind of nonsense that makes it impossible for anyone to even talk about these issues without being accused of being a xenophobe racist. We barely teach Canadian history in our schools. ie: Virtually nobody in this country knows hardly anything about any Prime Ministers who were in power before they were born, besides Sir John A. How many Canadians can name the Prime Minister who was in power during WWII, or WWI? Do you personally know who Canada's 2nd PM was? How about the 3rd, or 4th? How many Canadians have even ever heard of the Statute of Westminster, basically our Declaration of Independence? We have a problem with nationalism. If you don't know anything about your country it's hard to be proud of it. And yes it's up to both Canadians and immigrants have to work on integration of cultures. I agree that ethnic enclaves are formed in part because of discrimination, but it also has to do with many of them not wanting to integrate and stick to their own kind and cultures, and governments that not only do nothing to help this problem but actively encourage it through official multiculturalism. Interculturalism is a far better idea than multiculturalism. Interculturalism means different people of different cultures living side-by-side, not segregating themselves.

  9. Most Canadians of all colors and religions have always been closet racists, take a look some 60 years ago, where the Jews were being systemically wipe off the earth by the Nazi war machine, and knowing the consequences of that action , we still refused ships entry into Canada based on our religious disapprovals , take a look at Black Canadians and how long they have been persecuted, and in certain areas still are.... ....Canada is not a nation of diversity as we claim, our immigrants are for the most part huddled together in enclaves across Canada .. Its human nature to huddle together with people who share a common bond, ie color , religion, etc....but it is not very conducive for making a blended or diverse nation. Not everyone will fit in with other cultures based on this racism, or unacceptance as you call it. and until we get rid of the things that divide us , such as religion, being uneducated, or just unable to change , things will never change.

  10. Vote however you want, that's how democracy works. Nowhere did I say our country is being destroyed..but I do think his policies and positions, particularly on our resource sector, have done deep and sustained damage to our economy that will take decades to repair. It may not be obvious right now, but it will become painfully obvious in the future. We've hobbled ourselves with tanker bans, anti pipeline policies, and new laws and bills that will affect more than just the oil and gas sector, causing major self-inflicted damage to all areas of our resource development in a competitive international resource economy. His policies have fueled resentment in Canadians against each other, and created regional divisions in this country in a way I haven't seen in my lifetime..worse I think than his father (and I'm old enough to remember.) I've voted Liberal in the past, I've voted Conservative in the past, peg me as a partisan if you feel like, it doesn't matter to me but you have no idea who I am. You're right about one thing though, a leader is not bigger than his party, but Trudeau seems to think he is. There was a time when a leader would not have survived the scandals and corrupt behaviour that Trudeau has survived, the party simply wouldn't allow such brand damage. I'm not sure what that says about the current Liberal party, that it seems there are only 2 MP's who have enough moral integrity to do the right thing and stand up to this bully. I'm not sure what that says about Canadians who would be willing to support such a leader...or such a party. I personally could not bring myself cannot vote for a party with a leader as vacuous and hollow as Trudeau in 2015, and my resolve has only focused and intensified in 4 years. I believe anyone with any sense of moral integrity would come to the same conclusion. I certainly did not see eye to eye with Jody Wilson on many of her positions, however on this particular one, we agree.

  11. Agreed. The country isn't destroyed. My biggest problem with Trudeau is his spending. Canada sacrificed quite a lot in terms of budget cuts in the mid to late 90s. It set us on an excellent path towards fiscal sustainability. We were the only country of the G7 to be balancing budgets consistently, running surpluses consistently, and paying down significant debt. In 4 years he's added all of the debt that was paid off over the last 15-20 years. As a result, were going to be using more and more tax dollars to just pay the interest on our debt. I don't know about you, but I can think of a lot better uses of tens of billions of dollars every year than to just pay interest on debt.

  12. But the Canada of today is not the Canada of a century ago. And the 'discrimination' today seems to largely be at people from religious groups who insist on wearing things appropriate to their homeland's culture and turning their noses up at Canadian values and beliefs. Frankly, if you insist your six year old Canadian-born daughters wear hijabs everywhere they go you are proving you have no interest in integrating and that you will forever be a foreigner here.

  13. Not the entire planet. And this was all caused by global politics with the US playing a big role in the background. Why would a nation keep an army to protect itself from foreign invaders when those same invaders can come in in the form of refugees and take over the country?? I support those European nations that built walls along their borders and denied the refugees access to their land; despite the EU's stupid wining.

  14. The entire planet is heading down this road and its best that we all do so in a unified way. Like climate change, it's too late to change course and all you can do is adapt.

  16. For those who still don't get it, here is the reason that Donald Trump continues to troll the news media....he gets to continue dominating the new cycle and starve his political rivals (Democrats) of oxygen. This strategy has served Trump well, and I do not expect it to change. https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/rich-noyes/2019/09/09/campaign-2020-tvs-war-against-trump-leaves-little-time-dems

  17. What? I'm actually quite happy. Despite the magnifying glass on the shitty things around the world, thanks to our media, I know that the world is getting better. We have never had it better. The only anxiousness and worry I have is the state of our climate, but even for that, I feel like technology is going to save us. Just because I oppose racism and bigotry, it doesn't mean that I fit the caricature you have created in your head, because of your desperate need for grouping people. Instead of this huffing and puffing and holding on to an ugly past, go learn something new. You'll feel a lot more accomplished and better.

  18. When I grew up in Quebec, I did find that most french people that I worked with were quite lazy and wanted to get paid for doing nothing. All they did enjoy and want to do was to go drink and party. You just proved that. It was the Anglophones that built up Quebec. Now, all their hard work in the building up of Quebec has been taken away from them and they are now being treated as second class citizen's in their own built up Anglo province. Quebec today would be nothing without the rest of Canada propping Quebec up. Quebec is bull shit.

  19. Yeah, Mk.17 is the bomb the B-36 accidentally dropped on Albuquerque New Mexico in 1957, Didn't have the plutonium pit in it obviously, but the bomb did detonate, like a dirty bomb, dispersing radioactive fallout from the uranium casing.

  20. When I go shopping, everything I buy is labelled telling me where it came from. This makes it remarkably easy for me to either support or boycott certain companies or countries. This is considered information I'm entitled to as a consumer, but now because Isreal is involved its "anti-semitic"? Give me a break.
