  1. It's startling that they haven't yet figured this out. The most ardent critic of Islamism I've ever encountered was a highly-educated woman with whom I did volunteer work several years ago who'd fled Revolutionary Iran. A Muslim herself, she was utterly and equally disdainful both of Muslims who bought into fundamentalist beliefs and practices and of progressives in the West who in her view naively preached for accommodation of these beliefs and practices.

  2. Well this is one thing I agree with Dog on ... there are proper ways to enter the nation and a process to become a citizen. I am against illegal immigration, I am ALL for LEGAL immigration. Setting a precedent here to let 10K plus people with this batch means the next waves will get larger and larger.

  4. We're very much into the topic of hatred recently. Trudeau just recently made an apology to Jews regarding the bigotry of refusing asylum during the time of Hitler, and he also brought up the recent massacre of Jews in Pittsburgh. However....a blatant hate-rally (which had broken our own Hate Laws), has been allowed to go on for years in Toronto. I'm thinking of the Islamist rally done by Al Quds. This rally is done every year in Toronto. Several complaints were filed against it, but surprisingly it still goes on, and the same message of hate is repeated: calling for the death of all Jews. https://www.bnaibrith.ca/sheikh_calls_for_eradication_of_israelis_at_toronto_al_quds_day_rally I checked out the law. Here's what the government says: https://lop.parl.ca/sites/PublicWebsite/default/en_CA/ResearchPublications/201825E So.....prosecution depends upon the consent of the Attorney General! Why is nothing being done? I got curious. Who's the past Attorney General of Ontario - before Caroline Mulroney? Yasir Naqvi. He's a Muslim. https://lfpress.com/2017/10/02/muslim-role-in-courts-opening-hailed-as-a-first/wcm/9a306d72-d4a7-048b-03e4-d00b19f637e0 Who can say that religion didn't play a role in his decisions?

  5. I've been feeling very pessimistic recently about this country's prospects. It seems to me that both by inclination and design we're headed in the wrong direction. Our politics is governed by a feckless cartel that seems unable to gauge or understand the concerns of ordinary Canadians and our economy, which is too dominated by various officially sanctioned oligopolies, is at best an unproductive second-tier entity. One of my relatives has told me that her son, who will soon graduate university with a STEM degree, is thinking of leaving the country for better opportunities elsewhere, probably in the U.S. or Australia. At the top of his list of his concerns about remaining is government policies that distinctly disadvantage young people like him. I believe that over the next 30 to 40 years Canada will simply become a 21st century version of Argentina, which slid from being the Western Hemisphere's second most prosperous country at the beginning of the 20th century to developing world status by the end. It can happen and this is the future we're apparently choosing. Can anybody or any political party prevent it?

  6. http://www.cjnews.com/news/canada/city-toronto-study-stop-hate-rallies So when they were refused a permit last year, they just went ahead and did it anyways. Without the permit, they are not allowed on city property. But they went ahead and did it anyways. And the kicker: Canada is not sure what to do about hate groups who repeatedly break the law. They apparently need to study it further. Canada has become a safe haven for Islamists.

Allah instructs the Believer to fight the Unbeliever until all religion is for Allah...and that includes atheists like myself who they view as 'godless'

  11. I doubt the progressive types thought about it one iota. If you ask me, progressive types feel that they've found a useful idiot in Islam and they can control the monster they've unleashed into Western society. I think they're in for a surprise when Islam finds no more use for THEM.

  13. Below are some regulations and incentives that I think would reduce climate change and improve quality of life as a whole: 1. Require all new large housing developments to be self-sustaining: Make solar part of building code. There are now solar shingles. Include deep water cooling systems, geothermal heating, and wind wherever they are viable and make ascertaining their viability a requirement of environmental assessments. All electrical loads in communities should be reduced through material tech, such as LED lighting, self-shading windows, and draft reduction double glazing. Water supply can be more self-sustaining through rain barrel or similar water retention systems and making sidewalks and roads more porous. Older developments can be retrofitted with much of this tech, incentivized through tax breaks. 2. Build "complete communities" where structures are live/work adaptable and both work and commercial/retail spaces are within walking/biking distance of residences. Integrate micro-farming into new developments, so that families can "grow their own" and increase local food supply. Every city/community should have quick access to locally grown food. This is also about food security. 3. Massively increase the size and quantity of carbon sinks: Launch tree planting and green roofing programs. Incentivize them through tax breaks. Divert some public spending at all levels of government to forestation, especially where settlements and industry put the greatest pressure on the environment. 4. Build far more mass transit: In all urban centres, build electrified mass transit networks that are practically accessible. Subways, light rail, and RER heavy rail in cities. High speed rail in corridors such as Quebec-Windsor and Calgary-Red Deer-Edmonton. 5 Set a price on carbon and return to cap and trade. The model was already set up between Quebec, Ontario and California. If we must have carbon taxes, they should be revenue neutral, such that revenues are returned to consumers. That's the Trudeau plan. We'll see how it bears out. 6. Direct immigration to under-serviced, far-flung communities to make them viable: Transportation, service costs, and waste are reduced by consolidating and in some cases combining struggling communities and supplementing their populations. 7. Increase brownfield development (developing formerly industrial/commercial and abandoned lands). Reduce greenfield development, especially in our most fertile and environmentally sensitive areas. 8. Increase hydro-electric energy production and eliminate coal energy production (unless clean coal energy becomes viable, which hasn't happened). Natural gas is a better energy fuel than coal by far, but renewables are best. We need to increase nuclear energy production if costs are sensible. 9. Follow France's example of moving towards eliminating the combustion engine. By 2050 there will be no combustion engines in France. France leads in nuclear energy production too, which is better for the environment than many of the non-renewable options out there. 10. Make Canada a world leader in green tech. I realize there's skepticism about the various subsidies and tax breaks given to green industries over the years, but once a critical mass of such industries is reached and centres of excellence are created, Canada can become a go-to exporter and employer in green tech. 11. Incentivize industry to boost productivity through upgrading efficiencies and equipment, for example by allowing total expensing within the year of purchase for tax purposes. Boosting productivity has the huge side benefit of increasing wages and product quality. These measures will not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They will reduce commute times, increase convenience and access to amenities, create high paying, high tech jobs, improve air and water quality, reduce health care costs (especially in the north), and improve quality of life overall.

  14. I was reading a story this morning on the BBC site about some Iranians who stole a fishing boat in France, and used it to get to the UK. About twenty of them. Were they immediately shipped back? Of course not! They have to be allowed to claim asylum, and then released into the streets. So they got what they wanted. And so will these people, most likely. Once they set foot across the border the lawyers take over, wringing their hands with glee at racking up more fees. I've come to the conclusion that western countries are going to have to repudiate that UN agreement on asylum. Things are likely to get worse, and if we just let in anyone who claims asylum and then - God help us - let the lawyers at it, by the time anything is settled they'll already BE settled with children and grandchildren born here. Most need to be turned away at the border, and the remainder need to be put in camps until a decision is made. And we need to keep the damn lawyers out of it.

  15. Your tax dollars at work. According to Brian Lilley of the Toronto Sun the government you appear to trust so much is selling off a brand new fleet of vehicles that they of bought for the leaders of the G7 Summer in Charlevoix, Quebec to drive around in last summer for a two day summit. Apparently, your federal government is trying too off load some 631 vehicles that were bought for that summit meeting which cost the taxpayer's $23 million tax dollars to buy. In that fleet of cars are vehicles like 154 Chevrolet Surburbans, 140 Touring models Chrysler 300's, 43 Mitsubishi Outlanders and so many other expensive cars that are now up for sale and there is no doubt about it that they will be going sold off for a steal of a deal. And we thought that car salesmen were bad. The Summit only lasted for two whole days and only involved 7 G7 leaders. I wonder how much it cost you and me the taxpayer to have to house and feed these slouchers also? Our dear prime mistake of Canada already has his own fleet of vehicles which he could have used instead. But no, and typical with all politicians? They say let's go blow some more taxpayer's tax dollars. Taxpayer's don't care anyway. They never say anything. Just keep them busy with bashing Trump and do not tell we the stupid sheeple anything else that they really should know about. So, the federal government(taxpayer's)bought all those vehicles for two days to run around and having fun at the taxpayer's expense. Trump is so right. We have politicians who are really all about and all apart of the swamp. This is a crime and it should be treated as a crime. For our federal government to be buying so many vehicles for a whoopee-tee-do two day summit is theft of taxpayer's tax dollars and this present dear leader of ours should be arrested and charged for the wasting of taxpayer's tax dollars. If only it could happen. While thousands of Canadians are in need of some money to live our politicians instead prefer to throwaway $23 million tax dollars for a nothing event. An event that nobody really knows what it was all about. Any comments about how this disgusting display by our politicians of how to waste taxpayer's tax dollars? This makes me really mad. Are you mad? Over?

  16. Oh - but they're not that bad - you're only getting the shrill voices - the hard edges. Everything will be fine - just trust us. That's the "progressive" mindset. Give yourself a good shake if you believe that kind of nonsense. As much as they hate the Jews today - do not doubr=t that they will come for everyone else tomorrow. The Koran is what guides them - and Allah is the one - the only true God. As many Muslims have said - if it takes a hundred - or a thousand years - Islam will prevail. Those that ignore it, do so at OUR own peril. Out with Trudeau ASAP.

  22. You have 0 credibility when you turn a blind eye to the shill that Trump is to the corporate world and multinationals. When it comes to politics, you are part of the problem for not being honest. Trump is the perfect definition of a shill. There are numerous examples of how he is a shill; from protecting his Saudi billionaires to cranking up the war machine, to appointing donors, like Betsy Devos, who has a huge stake in private/charter schools as the education secretary.

  23. A lot of this negative behavior by certain Muslims has a lot to do with the Islamic concept of Al-wala' wa-l-bara' (Arabic: Loyalty and Disavowal). Loving what Allah loves and actually hating what Allah hates. And Allah hates Jews. Unlikely to change anytime soon...especially at the behest of Infidels. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Wala'_Wal_Bara'

  24. Exactly and I believe the majority of people feel the same way, legal immigration is one thing, an organized invasion is another, that they are shuttled in on buses gives credence to this being organized. We cannot take in the world's refugees genuine or otherwise, if we did, we too would become a third world country. The first group hit the border wall yesterday, shuttled in on buses. This is an organized invasion. https://globalnews.ca/news/4664447/migrant-caravan-tijuana-u-s-border/ More info here, it is moving at an accelerated pace - will be interesting to see how they handle a few thousand when it arrives shortly. https://www.news.com.au/technology/environment/migrant-caravan-800-central-americans-reach-us-border/news-story/d3f16c6b37235c3bc3fa68d9052420ff At least eight migrants crossed into the US, and were promptly arrested by border patrol officers, an AFP correspondent said. Under a new executive order Trump issued last week, such migrants will not be allowed to apply for asylum, and face automatic deportation

  25. Problem is: neither we nor almost all of the rest of the world really understand what is good economics and what is really bad. So, we/they embrace the really bad (which is speculative gain run wild). If one grants the privilege to banksters to use all of the money they can lay their hands on for nothing but wealth redistribution, nothing is left for productive work that creates wealth (at a much lower rate than the "money for nothing" of speculative transactions). There is no money available to find the "virtuous" efforts of man if we simply give a tiny part of the world population access to ALL of the money for nothing but speculative economic suicide. As far as Canada vs. everywhere else goes: about 40 years ago, we sold our businesses and set out to find the best place in the world to raise children. I had a contract that allowed/required extensive travel and communication internationally, and we short listed the places that met most (none met all) of our ideals. We ended up moving to SK - sure glad we did. Depending on how one applies the metrics for reference, you can make ANY country look good or bad. I voted with my wallet and over a year's work for Canada. Well, specifically WESTERN Canada (I am from the East but at that time we lived in the North). As fa as the CF 106 goes: I have had several friends who were young engineers in that programme, and one of my former business associates was the RCAF acceptance test pilot for the F-104 (I still fly today with one of his squadron mates). B-C hit that one right on the head. The airplane was redundant but the intent was to try to build a Canadian military aviation industry. As with anything else government tries to do - the result was total fiscal and economic disaster. BTW: The 104 was strictly and interceptor - never intended for strike.

  26. So what exactly does Trump have to do with this? Did he perhaps call Trudeau first and say "hey, you know what? It would be double plus good if you bought a shit load of vehicles to use for two days". If not then your Trump stuff is just a feeble and transparent distraction from the actual subject.

  27. Indeed....Delta wings do have limitations. Canada actually took Voodoo transfers from the USAF in exchange for more investment in Pinetree early warning. F-4 Phantom II production was booked out for at least 10 years ! The reference above hints that Canadian brass was not very happy with Avro's performance and support for CF-100 Canuck....had low expectations for the more complex CF-105.

  28. These 'Chamber of Commerce' style rankings prove very little. If you look more closely at academic analyses, Canada's rankings across a number of indices have been declining throughout much of the recent past, except perhaps during the 2008/09 recession when we had the benefit of a temporary reprieve as a result of high energy prices.

  33. Actually, the CF-105 was cancelled by Diefenbaker's cabinet after Canada's military staff rejected it. The Liberals would have killed it too. 36. There is a lot that's pretty bad about how this country is run. We jet around the world trying to set up free trade with other countries, but we have no free trade between provinces. We have massive bureaucracy which gets in the way of business and individuals. Government fees and red tape add between $150k-$600k to the price of a home across Canada. We have the best paid public servants to be found, and the best paid cops, firefighters and teachers. And get mediocre services. We've built our EI system into a duplicate welfare/income support for people who work three months of the year and relax the rest - never looking for work because -- why should they? Most of our artists, musicians, poets, dancers, writers and actors are effectively living off the government dime, because no one else likes what they do enough to pay for it. We have the most expensive banking and investing services in the world, to go along with the most expensive internet, cell phone and cable. Why? Because the government controls the prices and fees, and there's little competition. And then there's our ever expanding 'native' population, and their growing demand on services, which no politician wants to do anything to address. We can't continue to have a large population of welfare lifers in Canada, living out in the bushes as if it was 1867. They need to be moved in closer to urban areas where there are jobs, and need to be taught to work. I'm coming to the conclusion that I will vote for Max Bernier's party next election, not just because he's the only one with the balls to challenge the chattering classes on their ever rising immigration numbers, but because he's the only one likely to do anything about any of the above.

The entire world has a collective freak out because Trump pulls out of the Iran deal, the world constantly asks what Trump is gonna do about Russia, the world expects Trump to solve the North Korea threats, the world expects Trump to remove ISIS and overthrow Syria and what does Trump do? He says, "sure, but can you guys give a little for the effort" and the euros recoil. If the US is becoming isolationist, maybe it's because the Euros expect the US to carry the entire load. And, to add a laugh, their solution is not to deal with any actual crisis, not to pay their share to NATO...No, their solution is to start their own army to protect AGAINST the Americans invading them...really? They actually think Trump wants anything to do with the mess that Europe has created for themselves? It's staggering just how stupid these people are.
