Happy Thanksgiving, we had our Turkey early because the kids had to work this weekend...

Although Combat has changed alot since WWI, even WWII, the concept is still the same, one must have good order and discipline to tell a man to perform his duties in combat even though there is a good chance those soldiers may not live through it....One of those ways is to Have a good solid base of morals and values that form our nations civil laws.....then have Military laws which provide a basic guide for soldiers through the chaos of combat. while some of these laws may sound strange or foreign to most, lets not forget the death penalty was just removed from DND not all that long ago for capitol offenses , and a few others such as desertion during combat, refusing orders in combat etc etc.........That being said it's a law that can be changed at the whim of our politicians. Lets also just add that during WAR, not all of our Nations soldiers are there on their own will, some will be forced to serve by our government.... There is already enough distractions for a soldier in life as there is, DND is an organization that when you boil it all down has one major concern. That is the man to your left and right...you can't do that when your thinking is he a racist etc etc , ie member of the KKK or Black power movement, Taliban etc.....Does he or she have my back when the time comes.... hence the need to be neutral, or at least when it counts....not saying DND members are pure, there are racists, and other assholes we are after all a slice from our nation citizens..... The Military once had a recruitment add which said there is no life like it.....and there is not....for the most part Canada has always had a volunteer military force, people that wanted to be a part of something different , and to be part of that , includes having some of your basic rights taken away or toned down...

This will just go on and on and on. More tax dollars blown and nothing solved. The taxpayer's of this country have been paying out hundreds of millions of tax dollars in compensation to the Indians for decades now and we still cannot solve the problem of the plight of the Indian. The Indians have had plenty of time and been given plenty of tax dollars to fix their dilemma and what have they done with all that money? Pizzed it away, I say. With all the tax dollars that they have been given all these decades they all should be millionaires by now. All politicians will do what politicians do best. Blow tax dollars because that is what they are trained to do. They never solve anything but add more to the problem. What our politicians need to start doing is use more common sense and logic rather that payoffs, emotionalism and foolish talk and actions. Apologize and payoffs to the Indians will never work no matter how many times politicians keep trying. The Indians will always whine. It is in their nature because they will not try to forget about the past. What happened to them happened to them and that cannot be rectified no matter how much they whine about it. White people have been crapped on by their own white politicians just as much but life must go on because that will never change also. I have been whining and crying about what politicians are and have been doing to Canada for decades now and where has it got me? Nowhere because they don't care or listen. So, the Indians need to stop complaining because they whining will always fall on deaf politician ears. That is the nature of the politician beast.

I'm sure the ones that we've accepted into our homelands for their own safety are very grateful. They are having a swell time, a great life, and cranberry sauce. Those living in other countries must learn to raise their own turkeys.

Without democracy you must have absolute trust in your leadership. We do not trust our leadership with that kind of total power. Democracy is constantly threatened by the elite who see it as a barrier to achieving power and wealth, but in principle it does put a limit on the power of government. It is imperfect but there is no better alternative.

And why not? Again, so easy to just throw money away. I think the lack of incentive for politicians and bureaucrats to spend money wisely is one of the biggest problems with modern democracy.

But it's so easy to throw away other people's money. Politicians have absolutely no incentive to spend money wisely. Any possible consequences are for future generations to deal with, long after their political careers are over.

If you look into it you will find that the situation on reserves was totally desperate. Their rationale for removing the children from reserves was to save them from slow death by starvation and disease. Schools were run in a manner that was considered typical in those days. White children were also beaten with objects, eg. the "strap". Kids were abused physically, mentally, and sometimes sexually. However that does not mean that school was like a prison or torture chamber. Video footage shows children playing, smiling, laughing, wearing ribbons and doing things we would call quite normal. Anyway what I heard this morning was a number of natives speaking out, saying no amount of compensation can ever help them. This is not about money, and they are not satisfied. They talk about wanting "healing". In that case, this money has been completely wasted. The government just took a wad of cash and threw it at them in the hopes the issue can be put to rest, but it's clear it won't be. A useless Liberal solution. Mindlessness. Reactionary. That 800 Mill could have done a lot of good if it had been used for something else.

I don't have to, trudeau does it for me . But when a leader calls out white supremacy because a black guy went nuts, tells me alot. When he calls Canadians ,canadians by default and the all mighty immigrant is the real canadian, that he is jealous of. that tells me alot. And you know what mike you complete lack of knowledge on this ,is really started to get tiresome. When he gives a convicted terrorist 10.5 million dollars tells me alot. I know a lot of people have been talking about how Trump 'somehow' managed to become nominated to lead the Republican Party, and that once the election is over he's gone and the party can 'rebuild'. I don't think that's going to happen. I think the Republican Party has been molded into the kind of instrument that is ready-made for Trump, not by him but by the last few decades of cynical identity politics the party leadership has undertaken. If Trump garners massive Republican support by being racist, sexist, ignorant and stoking fears while making empty promises, why, how is that different than how the Republican Party normally behaves? Oh he's cruder at it, more in-your-face, but the party of Willy Horton, the party which has focused relentlessly on hot button issues like gays, guns and abortion, the party with no vision, no ideological motivation, and not a hint of moral or ethical values, was ripe for a guy like Trump. He says the election is rigged, that there's voter fraud everywhere? Why, so does the Republican Party! They've spent the last several years stoking fear of voter fraud in order to justify putting in place voter ID laws to deter poor people and minorities from voting. Every Republican state government has been beating the drums about voter fraud. So how is Trump anything new? The old Republican party sailed away into the sunset a couple of decades ago. What's left now is a collection of grifters who sell themselves to the highest bidder. The party of family values is led by a collection of sleazy adulterers, and the party base is just fine with that. The party of financial conservatives has run the country deeper into debt than it's been since WW2. By the mid 1980s the debt to GDP figure was in the low thirty percent area - and now it's over 100%. And what is the party of fiscal responsibility proposing? A whopping new tax cut and big new military spending! And the party base cheers. Because the party base is massively ignorant, and has been made that way by relentless propaganda by the blowhard talk shows and the Republican leadership which has sucked up to them without hesitation. Now they're stuck with them, a braying herd of wild-eyed extremists who demand absolutes because the party has been promising them absolutes and has led them to believe that's possible. No compromise is the demand of the base. No working with the 'unamericans' - which is everyone not like them. This isn't going to change when and if Trump leaves. He or someone like him can run again next time around and win. Because there is no room or tolerance for moderation or intelligent thought in the Republican Party. This election has shown as much. Put a little lipstick on the next pig and he'll probably get in, especially if four more years of utter gridlock in congress, and a poor economy make Clinton unable to accomplish much.
