I can't figure that one out. It's certainly a bit of a hot potato politically, but once he announced he was going to legalize pot, he should have at least reduced it to a misdemeanour while supply/distribution plans were worked out.1 point

Only canadians will be discussed in schools, anything we canadians by default have done will be swept under the rug and forgotten. Remember most of the new canadians don't care about our history, just the check at the end of the month.1 point

Oh yes they are. Go look under your bed. They are waiting for you. There are bogeyman on the internet? Where? Those people from the countries that I have visited can come here and visit anytime and integrate but no shouting "refugee" when they get here. So, what's your point? Where am I being a bigot? No, she said your assumptions do not stand up to evidence. It again seems your having difficulty understanding the topic, or perhaps you actually seek to shut it down. It has taken you several pages just to understand the OP, that a key factor was how Koreans isolated themselves. Also your bolded section, you are kidding, right? You advocate we should not be worried about things that are decades away. Sorry, I don't see that as being responsible. In multiculturalism people are not really engaging each other, because in many cases they see no need to. People have a right to preserve their culture from such fragmentation as well. Various countries have implemented it. Quebec has implemented it. As all cultures become more equal, formerly dominant white culture has important questions to consider.1 point

Then run away from the discussion, because that's all you can do when faced with the historical and existing reality for "aboriginals" (God, what a term) in Canada. Palestinians actually have more political power over the West Bank and Gaza than do First Nations on "reserves". I understand that this comparison is an inconvenient truth, but the entire exercise is to demonstrate that anybody who supports or lives in the Canadian (or American) "regime" in North America now or in the past has no credibility when criticizing the nation state of Israel, which actually faces existential threats. Honesty begins at home.1 point

MY Op is about math. Let's compare the PISA results of Quebec and Ontario in mathematics going back to 2003. These are the scores on the PISA tests for mathematics by 15 year olds. The higher the number, the better the score. 2003 Ontario 530 Quebec 537 2006 Ontario 526 Quebec 540 2009 Ontario - 526 Quebec 543 2012 Ontario - 514 Quebec 536 2015 Ontario - 509 Quebec - 544 As you can see, Ontario's performance in math is in steady decline. These are the PISA results that you cited. Why is Ontario struggling in math?1 point

Can you clarify what you mean? Canadian students do well on international assessments, better in language than Math but still very good. http://www.cmec.ca/Publications/Lists/Publications/Attachments/365/PISA2015-CdnReport-EN.pdf https://www.cmec.ca/580/Programs-and-Initiatives/Assessment/Trends-in-International-Mathematics-and-Science-Study-(TIMSS)/Canadian-Results-—-Grade-8/index.html Ontario students did better than the national average on Pan-Canadian assessments: http://www.eqao.com/en/about_eqao/media_room/communication-docs/infographic-PCAP-highlights-ontario-results-2013.pdf Canadian adults have among the highest average education levels of any country. So I find your blanket statement quite odd. What are you basing that on?1 point

From @dialamah 's link: Antifa traces its roots to the 1920s and ’30s, when militant leftists battled fascists in the streets of Germany, Italy, and Spain. [Local note: 1930's Toronto, Christie Pits 'riot' was Italian (ballplayers) anti-fascists backing up their Jewish friends (the ballplayers on the opposing team) against the intruding white supremacist nazi fascists.] When fascism withered after World War II, antifa did too. But in the ’70s and ’80s, neo-Nazi skinheads began to infiltrate ... and ... young leftists, including many anarchists and punk fans, revived the tradition of street-level antifascism. In the late ’80s, left-wing punk fans in the United States began following suit, though they initially called their groups Anti-Racist Action, ... these activists toured with popular alternative bands in the ’90s, trying to ensure that neo-Nazis did not recruit their fans. ... Trump ... For antifa, the result has been explosive growth. ... “Suddenly,” noted the antifa-aligned journal It’s Going Down, “anarchists and antifa, who have been demonized and sidelined by the wider Left have been hearing from liberals and Leftists, ‘you’ve been right all along.’ ” "right" in that fascism must be squashed.1 point

The actual story: Trump acts preemptively with the governor to declare state of emergency, they organize money and provisions before storm even arrives, rescue efforts (from everybody) are going off as well as can be expected and with minimal deaths. Citizens are helping other citizens (in "racist" Texas) regardless or political leanings, race, gender, age or sexuality. Trump visits area as soon as possible, gives inspiration to Texans and promises immediate and unwavering support for Texans. Praises efforts of all involved. CNN/MSNBC's version of the story: "Look at Melania's shoes, she's so out of touch"...."Look at Trump's hat, he's obviously just here to sell his brand".1 point

No, as the natural disaster in Texas is completely unrelated and would not have been mitigated had Trump never started the THREE YEAR process to withdraw from the Paris agreement. Not much empathy expressed here either. How many bodies would be sufficient to mount another attack on Trump ?1 point

1) President Trump has been visited by more world leaders than Trudeau, and Trudeau has been in office far longer. 2) NAFTA 2.0 is a direct result of President Trump's win. Trudeau/Nieto reacted to Trump. 3) Trump could never modify Trudeau's need for selfies with topless women. 4) Trump's buffoonery won him an election, defeating your sycophant candidate in a foreign country. Trudeau's foreign minister delivered a Canadian policy speech that specifically targeted Trump and the USA. Why ? Because U.S. policy matters more than Canadian policy. Trump acts...Trudeau reacts.1 point

Of course Trump has, and in very short order. If moron Trudeau gets lavish credit for reversing Harper policies as "getting things done", then so does Trump vis-a-vis Obama. Trump led on NAFTA....Trudeau didn't/can't.1 point

I disagree.... TPP - gone for the U.S. Supreme Court Justice - done NAFTA 2.0 - in progress Softwood lumber duty - pay up Canada...in real dollars ! Travel ban - partially implemented, refugees stay home Coal regulations - repealed...Mine, Baby, Mine ! Keystone XL - approved New Illegals - way down, fleeing to Canada NATO deadbeats - spending more DPRK - tough love Paris Climate Agreement - no thanks Sanctuary cities - show me the money Stock market - crazy highs Build the Wall ! - $1.6 billion expected soon in Congress Repeal Obamacare - close vote...let it collapse as designed1 point

Yes we do. But forced relocation is another genocidal tactic, used by Canada in the past but never helpfully. We also tried taking all their children and putting them in brutal 'reeducation' schools, and scooping their children and putting them in white foster/adoptive homes. None of those genocidal strategies has been beneficial to them. Perhaps instead of suggesting disgusting unilateral genocidal tactics, our governments need to listen to what Indigenous people say their needs are and address those needs. I believe we should start by providing the same level of funding as other Canadian kids have for education, child care, health and social services, ensuring that they can access healthy foods, and have facilities and funding for sports and other activities. I think we need to listen to them!1 point

The Americans can recruit soldiers from First Nations because of the Jay Treaty (1794?). US military recruiters were active in Canada during 2003. Thousands of Canadians have served in the US Armed Forces, including service in Iraq. So called "non-native" Canadians usually need to be US citizens or legal residents (green card) to join the US military, but the recruiters will shave some corners.1 point
-
Parsing the obvious continuity of military action and purpose in Iraq will not make the policy go away. President Clinton's WMD speech before launching Desert Fox in December 1998 reads much like President Bush: http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/stories/199...ts/clinton.html The US Congress passed the Iraq Liberation Act prior to Desert Fox, prior to Bush's election, and prior to 9/11: The Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 (Public Law 105-338) [1] (codified in a note to 22 USCS § 2151) is a United States Congressional statement of policy calling for regime change in Iraq. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Liberation_Act The "regime" has certainly been changed.1 point
-
No, the "Conquest of Iraq" was the continuation of UK/US foreign policy for Iraq going back to 1991: 1) Gulf War 2) No-fly zones 3) UN sanctions 4) Iraq Liberation Act (US Congress - October 1998) 5) Operation Desert Fox - December 1998 (Military attacks for "WMD" inspection violations / kill Saddam) ...all before President Bush was ever elected.1 point
