I guess that, from a left4rd POV, the dictionary is just a collection of amphigories, because you guys just use words to mean whatever you want them to, with no concern whatsoever for their actual meaning 🤣 But it's time to pay the piper now, Barqy: Do you now understand that Carney is actual the poster child for the word "lickspittle", now that you know what it means? Did you try to find examples of lickspittle behaviour by Poilievre and just failed, as I said you would, or are you just too afraid to try to use that word again? Take heart: there are a lot of prominent left4rd leaders who are in the same boat as you. Scary, hey? Trudeau was a traitor, sure, but he wasn't a wussy traitor, he was a smarmy, lying, Newsom-style traitor. .... Well, if "trying to make an intellectual-sounding insult against Poilievre" pisses you off, you perhaps have to ask yourself why? Maybe there is no real alternative to the despised Liberals? Canadians had 4 opportunities to make choices in the past decades and the conservatives failed to convince they are the ones to rule each time ...regardless of your rants against the liberals. Seems to me the conservatives are the Buffalo Bills of Canadian politics...4 times in a row for the trophy only to lose each time??? Is it the coaching? The players or what? Some here are like Buffalo fans...whine, cry, claim they were fowled but yet still they keep losing. It will be 14+ years since the first loss to get another chance. No, they are the generation most likely to pay the bills "you people" incurred and undo the damage "you people" created. Had it not been for the difficulties they're now experiencing with failed liberal policies they may not have come to see the error of "your ways." 2 hours ago, Barquentine said: Every generation does and should. That's the polarization I referred to above... stay the course if you wish but I don't think you'll like the outcome anymore than Democrats in the US do right now. It creates a see-saw that makes everyone dizzy and gets you incumbents like.... Trump. If you like see-saws though you should go for it. 2 hours ago, Barquentine said: Btw, saying "they" over and over just shows lazy generalizations on your part. And I've added "you people" to the lexicon as well... can you guess where I got that from? As far as I'm concerned it used to be we and us but I can do the polarization thing if pushed to it. That said I don't see any positive outcomes that come as a result of it. You can see it in other places too... when elections take on the air of a battle of attrition, and people have cause to fear the election outcome, that's when things really start running off the rails. If/when that happens, and if/when it takes on extremes, it will probably happen in the US first and we'll get an opportunity to see what it is that we don't want here. That's even more important than the list of things you do want IMO. It's a wish list that only bad experience causes people to write and most divorced folks are pretty familiar with the concept. I think it's easily avoided but hey, you do you. Edited April 1 by Venandi Quote

That's your takeaway eh? That was actually intended as a general statement, not directed at you in particular even though I did use the word. I think it's the only such usage I intended in the post. The "you people" thing is an eyeball salutation and I use it occasionally because I dislike it so much. Note the use of the word "we'll" here as it speaks more to my intent. I'm not going to spar with you (or anyone else) over points of order like this though, there are others here happy to do so. I'd still say that knowing what you don't want is every bit as important as knowing what you do though.... no matter who it applies to. I used divorced people as an example and I think it's valid to do so. From sad experience they usually have a pretty good sense of what they absolutely don't want in future relationships and those items serve as red flags to be heeded... even to the point of prioritizing them above their "do want" list. Here's another example of something you (we and us) don't actually want (in headline form).
