MAJOR NEWS: Trump threatens to put 100% tariffs on Canada if Canada goes through with the trade deal with China.

"WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Saturday threatened to impose a 100% tariff on goods imported from Canada if America's northern neighbor went ahead with its China trade deal.

Trump said in a social media post that if Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney “thinks he is going to make Canada a ‘Drop Off Port’ for China to send goods and products into the United States, he is sorely mistaken.”

While Trump has waged a trade war over the past year, Canada this month negotiated a deal to lower tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles in return for lower import taxes on Canadian farm products.

Trump initially had said that agreement was what Carney “should be doing and it’s a good thing for him to sign a trade deal.”

Carney’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment."

Carney is caving to the CCP already?

The federal government asked for a court ruling to set aside the government’s 2024 decision ordering TikTok to shut down its Canadian operations due to national security concerns.

On Monday, the government filed a letter with the Federal Court saying it had reached an agreement with TikTok to set aside the wind-down order and launch another national security review. The government’s letter said Ottawa and TikTok had agreed to jointly seek an order from the court.

On Wednesday, a Federal Court judge issued that order. The decision means the social media company can keep its offices here running while the industry minister conducts the new review.

You opened your fat mouth just too many times in just the last week PiggyBoy, be thankful Carney retains enough diplomacy and civility to not just tell you to F*CK OFF to the media, but rest assured 40 million of us would be happy to go just that.

We dare you to set foot on any Forces base, bring Vance, Miller and Lutnick along to share the beating.

I get a chuckle recalling labels I see on occassion on things I've bought; "Made in China for the American Manufacturing Company" or "Made in China, Designed in the USA"

Yes, Canada must walk and chew gum at the same time.  We must trade with countries that we don't agree with on a lot of things and even though they try to meddle in our politics, etc.  We have had trouble with India as well.  But we must trade and increase our trade with other countries like China, India, southeast Asia and other countries.  At the same time, we must be more forceful in dealing with national security and foreign interference.  We should be able to do those things at the same time as we trade.  Our prosperity depends on it.

We should also be able to do these things while pressing China about its issues with human rights. Civilization depends on not caving to or accepting that might-makes-right.

That is true, but China is a major power in the world and has a population of about 1.4 billion people.   Our population is about 40 million, just a drop in the bucket.  We are in no position to dictate to China how they must run their country.  Trudeau tried that and they just laughed at him.  It is unrealistic to think we can tell them how to run their country or any country for that matter.  That is not how the world works.

Yeah but some here on this forum think Trump should be able to tell us how we should run our country :)

Stop dealing with China and ask the US to treat us better....

I agree that we have to do some trade with China as it's basically impossible to ignore that market. But as Carney himself correctly pointed out last year, China is the number one security threat to Canada. They already interfere in our elections, they seem to prefer to have the Liberals and Carney in power. China has no qualms about taking Canadians as hostages to coerce our government to give in to their demands. China is the world leader in industrial espionage and they'll likely be having a field day in Canada.

Early signs seem to indicate that Canada is going to bend over for China but Trump's latest tariff threat shakes up everything now. The US did not want China gaining a foothold in Venezuela so I think they are rightly concerned about Carney getting into bed with the CCP.

Trump's about face should also be pointed out here. He initially indicated it wasn't an issue when asked about Carney's deal with China, even saying that's what he should be doing. His advisors must have changed his mind pretty quickly.

The biggest export to Canada from India is....people.

We are upset other countries are interfering with our internal issues yet we want China to do things we want with their internal issues?

Our morals are not the same with theirs and ours is different with many other countries....wanna change them all to our way??.

I told you guys that Trump was just calling Carney's bluff, and letting him paint himself further and further into a corner.

Before this, average, everyday Americans had no real beef with us, and now our relationship is eroding at an alarming pace.

Trudeau and Carney have been pi55ing off India, Japan, China and the US for a decade now.

The only reason China even listened to Carney last week was to stick his thumb in America's eye. Trust and confidence between the US and Canada were never in doubt until we elected these liberal jackasses.

And TBH, they're not the actual problem.

The actual problem in Canada, again, is the fact that our liberal leaders know that they can do and say whatever they want and our media will whitewash their mistakes, ignore their scandals, slander their opponents, back their lies, push their false narratives, and heap praise on everything they say and do that's not catastrophic.

It works internally, because the gov't and the MSM are a tagteam that can bully Canadians and lead a small majority of us around by the nose, but our MSM can't do a thing for them internationally, because no one in India, China, Japan or the US gives a F what the CBC and CTV have to say. When we f those countries over, it doesn't get swept under the rug by their MSM.

Canada's reputation is now on the slippery slope. We've rubbed too many raw nerves in the past decade and we are now running out of free passes that took generations to accumulate.

Unless all these muslim countries that we gave so many billions of dollars to us somehow find it in their hearts to love their first non-muslim country, we are running out of friends.

Sure, why can't two things be true when judged according to their relative merits or lack thereof?

Eventually, and by ours that includes other already similarly minded trading partners. We  need to do like we did as kids in kindergarten on excursions out into the real world, stay close and hold hands.

For sure...that is exactly what is happening...we hate interference by other countries but we like to tell other countries we do not like their standards or what they do internally....kind hypocritical eh? :)

Trading partners do not need to be friends or do as we say or like...they just need to buy what we have to sell and smile at each other while trading.

We are upset that China sends spies and people to influence and bribe our politicians, and threatens their expatriates

China is upset that we criticize it for genocide.

The Americans have considerably better morals than China.

We also celebrate the murders of people we call terrorists in other countries and get pissed off when India takes out our garbage for us.

I'm pretty sure that the Indian gov't isn't prejudiced against Indians, if they want to take out 1 guy every 20 years I'm pretty sure they have their reasons.

We have still never convicted a single Khalistani terrorist here, ever. Not one. And we have thousands of them plotting actual violence.

Then we even invited a terrorist to dinner with the Indian gov't 😂

Our country is just f'ing whacked.

He meant it in the same way that your wife means it if she says "Sure, you can go to ________ with your buddies on our anniversary. That's important."

And: We've always traded with China and the US.

Your funny....what would happen to our economy if the US puts 100% tariffs on all our exports to the US....how much of our exports goes to the US again....what was 67.3 %, i have to ask, what would our economy do after losing 67.3 % of our income...it would ruin us...But we would at least have our principles right....i wonder what they taste like, because everything else would  to costly...

Your talking like this is day one for trump or the Federal government learning how to handle Trump....everyone knows from kindergarten to university trump does not respond well to Carny back talking....Carney has a choice thump his chest and get what ever trumps throws at the country, or he could deal with trump in a way we can get some traction on things...That is his job....not to be the tough guy...but to be the politician who real has very little cards to play...

Yes step foot on a forces base.....see how long the beating lasts and how find out what a real beating looks like when the US comes to the rescue....You guys on the left bark like little lap poodles....spewing stuff that we do not even have the power to do...with no regards to consequences....Kind of like the 16 Air force guys we were going to send to Greenland...
