CARNEY STRIKES BACK AGAINST INCREASED US TARIFFS BY LOWERING OUR COUNTER TARIFFS EVEN FURTHER.

Trumpty Dumpty's putting tariffs on everyone. Consumers aren't going to save by shopping elsewhere. And when and if there's a US alternative it will cost them even more than it does now, at the prices that drove them to seek alternatives.
Companies are going to recover their costs for investments, on top of what they charge now. You think Apple's going to invest $100 billion in the USA and NOT aim to earn it back? You think they'll build iPhones in the USA for the rest of the world market? You gotta be kidding!

So you would prefer tariffs that YOU pay for?  If the US is that f*cking stupid, which most Trump supporters are, and want to pay more for goods because of tariffs that's their problem.  Wonder what Poilievre would have done? 😂

Yes Canadians would be punished by any Canadian tariffs by paying foe the increased price....., but they are designed to curb Canadians from buying US products by making them more expensive....Canadians will naturally search and find cheaper alternatives...where this hurts the US is they are no longer making money here in Canada, and will be forced to sell products at a cheaper price, or slow production lines, or lay off people....that's where the american will feel the pressure of tariffs...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Many Canadian's are looking for alternatives to US products....  tariffed or not.  Carney's doing the right thing so far.  He's dealing with a 79 year old child who wets his pants when things don't go his way and/or people retaliate.  All tariff's clicked in today for the US so only a matter of time before inflation starts to become noticeable and pressure mounts on Trump....assuming of course he doesn't fire everyone and hires lackeys to provide 'his' data.

US tariffs , would mean Canadian products sold in the US would be at price, plus tariffs....which would cause US consumers to find cheaper products made either in the US or else where.... note US tariffs do not apply to the entire globe, but to specific countries...and only effect Canadian goods flowing into the US , not other countries goods flowing into Canada...

not sure why your having a hard time following this logic....Canadian tariffs on US products would have Canadian consumers looking for a cheaper product made in Canada or shipped in from another country which canada has no tariffs on....

During this time The US manufacturing of these tariff products would see a drastic loss in sales....at least as long as the  tariffs remain in place....Because Canadians would be finding other products to buy...*blink twice if your following so far...

His data will eventually have to deal with the real data. Business is not going to make decisions based on data they know is bullshit.

Spot on...  He can and will continue to fool his lackeys, until they lose their jobs, but he's not going to be able to use fictitious data saying it's great if it's not.

Many are but not the majority , Well that did happen during the peak of the elbows up....but Canadians are still buying plenty of US goods, even at inflated prices, according to the media that trend is dropping off...and even at the peak was only about 30 % of goods sold here in Canada....Look at costco, it is always packed and and a lot of goods sold there are US goods...

As for Carney doing the right thing , we will see in the near term, so far nothing that we know is being done...It is going to be important to see how these negotiations go because CUSMA will be next...

Not sure how you came to this , as most of his data to date has been false, proven false on Canadian and US media and yet Americans believe trump's word as it came from god himself...and to be honest i don't think cares what Carney and his team think...he believes his numbers nothing else matters...

I'm talking about business, the people who invest the big bucks, not the MAGA base. Trump is far too unpredictable to be investing billions on whims which change on a daily basis from a man who won't be around in 3 1/2 years and a lame duck in a year and a half.

America is entering a protectionist era. The world needs to get over the fact that we’re not giving you all a free pass into our market any more. Biden did not remove Trump tariff. He added on top of Trump.

The world will break into sphere of influence. You’ll see, there’s no one else to turn to. The Chinese will out produce whatever it is that Canada tries to sell. Your industry is not competitive. America has been giving you a free pass to sell into our market and keeping the Chinese away. Really out of the kindness of our big American heart @Army Guy. Outside in the global market, Canada is just another high cost producer.

Canada is breaking up. Canada as a sovereign state is not sustainable without American trade subsidies (non tariff barriers). And by extension so are the Chinese. You’ll all see. The consequences when America stop holding up the ceiling.

Trump is your redeemer. It is by his hands that you will be lifted from the ashes of Canada and join the 51st.

What has he actually given up? Be specific. He has said stuff but can change his mind, just like Trump.

ROFLMAO!

"Carney will stand up to Trump! Elbows Up!"

Then the Carney folds like a cheap sheet.

"He's doing the right thing!"

Good gravey but you Libbies are so transparent.

"Elbows up" is the mafia name for his strategy, like when they name a guy Jimmy no-nose because he has a huge schnozz.

When the carney says "elbows up" actually means "tits down, ass up".

I'm gonna see if it's possible to import one of these.

Maybe even open up a dealership here.

Yep.  They voted for a slogan not a strategy.

They voted for "what CBC told them to vote for".

Carney could have made his slogan "Toss Trump's salad" and CBC woulda said "it's polling high. The cool kids LOVE it!"

The Chinese are building light pickups. Seen them in Mexico and they are selling them in Australia.

TBH, the whole reason that foreign vehicles are banned from Canada is because the US had manufacturing plants here.

We make some vehicles, make some parts, but we heavily tariff foreign competition. That was essentially the auto pact.

If we can't make the cars here anymore, why are we still putting tariffs on other cars?

Carney can't make a big show of it, but he should remove tariffs on other imports.
