The United States may recognize Alberta's right to self determination, strengthening the province position in negotiations with Ottawa

Been reading some rumbling online that the US may honor Alberta's right to negotiate deals for themselves, strengthening their bargaining power in the process. This may look like how the US recognizes Taiwan

America's view will be closer to how Russia recognizes Crimea and Donbas.

US will force Canada to bend the knee and give Alberta what it wants, i mean what will canada do declare war, write up some tariffs....Canada won't last long after Alberta leaves...The US will get its wish and make us the 51 st state.....and the liberals will have given them that.....as other Provinces will join and Canada will be a distant memory.. Canada survival depends on all the provinces being united, if one leaves there will be clasped....

And i doubt very much the clarity act will save anyone if the US forces the issue....

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Oh well look at the bright side, there'll likely never be another Republican majority again.

America's view?

In spring 2014, there was a vote in Crimea. People there very largely voted in favour of joining the Russian Federation.

In summer 2014, I traveled to Crimea. People spoke Russian the same way people in northern Ontario speak French, or even Acadians speak French.

They covered their license plates to show they were Russian - not Ukrainian.

Imagine French people in Ontario or New Brunswick doing this.

======

Trump is correct. This war should never have started.

Are you sure of that....

I don't know, the sudden absorption of so many lefties into America's electorate certainly seems to be a consideration when the topic of joining America comes up.

Maybe a less right wing America in the world would be worth sacrificing our sovereignty - we'd be taking one for the betterment of humanity.

8 to 10 million lefties are not going to make a dent in how things are run in the US....so before you go to the passport office you should be prepared to go hard right....F8ck ya Amerika....

I'm also glad to here your so patriotic, giving up that Canadian citizenship so easily, like it was a mere convenience to have in the first place....besides what does Canada offer to humanity, asides from beaver tails, maple syrup, lumberjack stories,  mounties on horses, housing crises, health crises, Climate crises, immigration crises, gun crises, homeless crises, crime crises, justice system crises, liberal crises, we got more crises than we can fix, and readers on here say the country is not broken...Tell us what is not broken it would be a shorter list...

Yeah, didn't see a lot of posts from you expressing that while trump was working hard to help the libs win the election :)

BC NDP Premier Eby is opposed to a Northern Gateway Pipeline to move oil from Alberta to the northwest B.C. ports of Prince Rupert or Kitimat.   That means he opposes making Canada an energy superpower.  He in effect is backhandedly supporting Alberta separatists because he is opposed to making Alberta a strong province within confederation.  How dumb can anyone be?

More like I proved that your opinion on the subject is somewhat selective :)

Count the seats bud. He's basically staying in power because of the 2 green votes. Without that the conservatives would bring him down. You think he's going to keep that green party support and he starts saying yes to pipelines?

Obviously he won't stand up for Canada.  His only interest is in staying in power.

Yeah, I think we knew that about him when he crushed his opposition in the leadership race and had them thrown out of the race on a flimsy excuse :)

In fairness most politicians care about staying in power. You don't get to the top of the pyramid unless you do. It's just a shame that the conservatives didn't pick up a couple of extra seats

I'll say this for Carney: he was elected into the toughest role of any Canadian PM ever...

Ordinarily you'd think that following a narcissistic fascist who seems gay and just got dumped by his wife would be an easy task, but Trudeau left this country in sorry shape and headed downhill fast. And that was BEFORE the trade war with the US started.

For Carney to halt the downward slide and just maintain the status quo, without ballooning our budget, in the face of Trump's brutal assault on our economy would be an astonishing success, but when you factor in his minority gov't and the need to satisfy one of the NDP, Greens and Bloc... Winston Churchill was the last western leader to be in a tighter spot than Carney is.

If Canada doesn't implode or Carney get the boot within 6 months I will be shocked.

If the Cultist Narrative Network/Cultist Broadcasting Corporation gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

Well it's a tough row to hoe for sure, but i'm sure his many years experience as a politician will help to....  oooooh wait.....

I think they are counting on either Lying their asses off to try and hide the damage I make it sound like things are great or creating a crisis similar to covert or trump in order to rally people around them again as the only people that can save the planet in Canada

Did you see the post I made where polling suggests that pride in Canada has already plummeted again now that the election is over? These guys are absolute pros and manufacturing bullshit and getting people worked up for the 5 minutes it takes to get elected

But at the end of the day he doesn't care. He's going to spend his time funneling money into consultants and agencies outside of Canada who will pay him huge dollars when he leaves politics.  Even if he's gone in 2 years he will still be an outrageously rich man for the rest of his life. It's not like he's here because he cares about Canada

Donnie the Demented is too stupid to realize that if it did, it would end forever any pretense of the USA being Canada's ally.
Just as the demented traitorous trolls that keep bringing the subject up think they can make it happen.
