500channelsurfer Posted January 27, 2025 Report Posted January 27, 2025 I wonder if the cost of shipping Canadian goods to alternate trading partners than the United States (EU, UK, Mexico and Central and South America, Southeast Asia, etc.) amounts to 25%. Quote

Aristides Posted January 27, 2025 Report Posted January 27, 2025 Energy East was supposed to use an existing gas pipeline that runs to the Ontario Quebec border to transport oil. That much is already built. A spur to Sarnia should be built so we don't have to ship crude to Ontario refineries through the US. Quote

Then a smart Canadian policy would be to prepare policy to assist our ports and pipeline companies for expansion to reach alternate markets than the US. 1 Quote

Well this is the argument that has been made for the last 10 years, but Trudeau would have nothing to do with it. Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."

Dougie93 Posted January 28, 2025 Report Posted January 28, 2025 19 hours ago, Aristides said: Canadians have a vastly inflated sense of their own self importance since all those exports to Canada only represent 2% of American GDP while Canada's exports to America is 20% of Canada's GDP the Republicans are aware that there are short term costs of going to war with Canada but those costs are comparatively negligible in the grand scheme of things, and sustainable therein whereas Canada will spiral into economic catastrophe thus Canada will be forced to capitulate to President Trump's demands, sooner rather than later Quote

500channelsurfer Posted January 28, 2025 Report Posted January 28, 2025 It would make sense that Nevada trades with Switzerland as gambling profits would fit very nicely with Switzerland's banking sector, but it is noted that Switzerland is the world's largest gold refiner, and Nevada is the US's larger miner of gold. Quote
Gaétan Posted January 30, 2025 Report Posted January 30, 2025 It was useless to waste a billion dollars on guarding the border because Trump's tariffs were to make foreign countries pay for the millions of bombs that the Democrats sent to Israel and Ukraine for free and to pay back their huge deficit that unnecessary wars cost them to increase the profits of their arms industries.
