Not everything the socially conservative say is wrong or unfair, and your dismissing the reasonable cases as over-the-top just showcases how unreasonable the other side often is. I'm pretty sure there's lots of room between the kettle and the pot and I'm mocking as opposed to dismissing all criticism. For example I think the "recommended for readers 15 and over" sense coming out of Australia is fair and balanced. I might add a "not recommended for kids with hard-boiled right-wing parents" label as well but that's me. What I will dismiss is the outrageous mischaracterizations of their criticism, probably because the people doing this mischaracterizing also spend an equal amount of time associating pedophelia with social liberals. It's what informs and comprises the bulk of their bigoted ignorant criticism. I trust political science curricula adequately describes what and where hard-boiled right-wingers are on the ideological spectrum. If it isn't it should be, starting by grade 3 at least. Trudeau senior's quote has a wider meaning than for just gay marriage, which he may have been referring to at the time. Today there are people, Canadians, who want to raise their kids according to their own cultural beliefs. Many immigrants and new Canadians are devout religious types. They want to protect their six-year-olds from being exposed to adult content while they are so young. The conflict between liberal "progressives" and multiculturalism now rears its ugly head. The best position is for the government to be disarmed and they must remain neutral. They provide the framework and the laws, services, run the economy. There needs to be sharp borders where government authority and /or influence is cut off. Censor the government. 1 Quote

I don't think so, in this case, because "recommended for readers 15 and over" is about as clear an invitation as you can get for someone 15 or under to read the book. You and I both have the same feelings on those types, but what good does it do mocking a topic even like this? Porno comics in the K-12 school library? It's so cluelessly out of touch it makes me cringe...like come on... Giving an inch, once in awhile, is good for your sanity. Not a problem - provided they get to opt out of tax dollars for your system, or that they get as much money for theirs from the gov't. I'm not sure you'll like that tho. Bigots like you have resisted reasonable solutions since humanity started keeping recoreds at least. It IS a big deal, it is inappropriate and the concerned parents do have a wealth of science on their side to say that sexualizing children is bad for them. Trying to pretend it's nothing or that somehow anyone who doesn't agree with you doesn't actually have rights or should segregate themselves is generally associated with the bad guys in history. I guess people love a good fight. I have no explanation for how that came about. Blame Soros. But my hunch is that most parents and religious leaders would oppose the separate school boards stance. Although "celebrating pride" does not necessarily mean bringing in drag queens to reading hour, or offering hardcore gay porn in the library. If the separate board intends to follow the public one, it raises the demand for another separate school system. Those who are religious will seek an alternative from state-sanctioned porn being taught in the public. Quote

Something like that should be easily backed up by looking at polls and so on. My experience is that parents, even religious parents, have no more tolerance from intolerance. 3. Yes 4.
