The FBI can charge anyone they want with anything, and it works for political reasons, it just doesn't result in false convictions.... yet.

That's an oddly descriptive narrative, considering they knew that some of it was irrelevant and the key aspect of it was false. 

After the riots burned down buildings all across the country they didn't say stupid crap like "This is comparable to Pearl Harbour and 9/11!", they acted like the violence and destruction was pretty low-key, or understandable under the circumstances.

All in all, it adds up to: "The cops murdered him, now it's time for revenge." During the Floyd riots some people even called the looting "reparations" and the alt-left media never flinched.
