If it wasn’t for American media and Republican support, Canada probably wouldn’t stand a chance of reconstituting its constitutional protections right now, because Britain granted us independence.  Our Governor General doesn’t seem to take an interest in safeguarding our Charter.  The Senate appears to be well in Trudeau’s pocket.
