Is Canada becoming a Communist state?

1. Why would we need to eliminate tech?  And cooperation can be achieved with technology, once we start building consensus with a public.

2. False?  Seems to me that the far rightism faction in here are the ones trumpeting our current affairs as a major crisis.

Not the burning forests, mind you, but trans women in sports, and being allowed to call people the NWord without being shamed for it... ?

Those are all just distractions, keeping you peopled mystified and at one another’s throats.

And doing quite nicely, I see. ;)

Already explained what happened about technology before. I preach history, not teach it.

I'm dismissing you because you appear to be quite opposed to government transparency

I all for government transparency

I am opposed to restricting free speech in the name of transparency

your plan just sucks

get a better plan that doesn't restrict free speech

if you can't do that, expect pushback from reasonable people like myself

transparency is not more important than free speech

How on Earth does being party to a conversation between a public official and a corporate paid lobbyist restrict free speech anyway? You've never once said how.

I mean, I get it that asking for permission to increase the amount of pollution you're allowed to dump into a river can be a touchy topic but it bloody well should be don't you think?

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

They don’t know whether or how much such solutions will reduce climate change.  I’m not against fighting human made climate change but not if it raises the cost of living or reduces human freedom.  Sorry not sorry.

It seems to me there has to be a cost, as we have been raping and pillaging the natural “resources” too much. Natural resources are for free and we take them for nothing. We give back to the environment nothing.

Greed being always the common denominator. Multiplied by stupidity over time, you get today.

So is there gonna be a price? Oh my yes. Someone’s gonna have to pay.

Just look around. By letting things rot and decay naturally, you’re already paying.

I have said how repeatedly

restricting the speech of politicians and lobbyists by penalizing them for speaking in private

is an obvious restriction of free speech

politicians and lobbyists have rights too and you don't get to infringe on them in the name of transparency

your desire to hear those conversations is not more important than their free speech rights

get a better government transparency plan

What a job killer...

Those jobs led to much greater creature-comforts for all, improvements in health and commensurate population explosion. But we have gone too far. If we believe what climate scientists say, the world go to hell in a handbasket in a mere few decades. We have known this for the last few decades but so-called leaders could not come to a realistic agreement that anyone would actually stick to.

If you people think communism is somehow a solution to this, well look at China. Complete power and government oversight. Biggest polluter in the world, blah blah blah. Meanwhile the US was able to reduce its emissions within their own system, voluntarily.

That's why one should give credit where it's due. The history of communism speaks for itself. Never mind the bollocks.

There's nothing new about what's going on, folks are simply sick to death and fed up with conservatives and getting more militant about it.  You figured people would just submit and stay out of sight and mind?  There's an idea that comes from the same olde breed of conservatives that have been kicking and screaming since lefties fled the trees to get away from all the fuss and din.

It's just too bad we couldn't have left them screeching away up in the trees.  Maybe we can we send you back.

Well before I start packing my bags, and the left gets all horny to get going on the complete take over the country banishing us to the trees and beyond as you say, Your man Justin and his sidekick have long outworn their welcome, and it will be time for a regime change... What you should be worried about is if PP wins this conservative race and the PM seat... the process of setting everything back on track will begin. There will be more than just the leftist screaming from the distant trees, their heads will start exploding in a flurry of pink mist as they can not come to terms with a conservative win, one that has its origins from the far right. It will be a time recorded in history as the great reset, building back better to steal a phrase from the left. A new time of Common sense will be ushered in, and all will live happily ever after.

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

1. Not straightforward.  China could eliminate leaded gas with the stroke of a pen, but only if the leader agrees.  There's no public sphere as ours but it also means no Nimbyism, no lobbying etc.

Also it's more about authoritarianism than Communism.

Well it was bloody hot again today and genetically I take more from my pale Ulster Granny than my swarthy Gibraltan Grandad.

Not quite digging trenches but arduous enough for a softy civil servant's son like me.

Don't even get paid.

I do it for the privilege of living in my hovel rent free on the land.

One day, maybe, when the workers control the means of production...?

well, actually, in the South of Spain, they shut everything down from 1400 to 1600

like all the shops, bars & restaurants close, the city workers go to sleep in the shade at the park

then supper is not served until late

you don't even get to the clubs until midnight

you dance through to night until dawn

then go to the cab stand for churros & coffee

before starting the cycle all over again

Exactly.

Siesta in the afternoon and back to work when it cools down a little in the evening.

We were talking about adopting the Mediterranean lifestyle tomorrow by starting early then quitting before noon for lunch and waiting until two or three hours before dusk to start again.

Historically too much rain is the problem at harvest not being too hot too work.

Blighty is warming up.

well, as I live here in the frozen Communist GULAG of American Siberia

I myself don't waste one second of summer heat

at peak afternoon temperature

I am sure to be on my deck

sunning myself like a leathery cold blooded reptile

drinking frosty tall boys from the cooler & smoking government weed

Even in the Conservative hellhole that is the Motherland I am able to self medicate with exotic Moroccan imports and panache made with German Pilsner and energy drink.

God Save the Queen and bottoms up.

Shame you let it turn into a communist state then.

Population high as giraffe pussy so they don't object too loudly.

Modern version of the Victorian opium dens and gin alleys.

Gladiatorial combat on the ice, Roman style, to get you through the winter months without revolting.

My Wife and her best friend are in the south of France on a river cruise from Marseilles to Lyon. It is so hot there that they have reduced all the daily tours to from 8 AM to noon. They go back to the ship at noon.

They have had several evening dinner outings in Chateaus cancelled because there is no air conditioning.

They were told they would be getting money back for the inconvenience and missed tours and events.

Europe is burning up.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But you are not entitled to your own facts.

The Rhone in France and the Rhine in Germany are getting too shallow for the big transport barges.

It's not just record temperatures there's also a serious drought going on all over the continent.
