Is Canada becoming a Communist state?

What if you are wrong?  For the sake of argument, I'll agree that there is a God, who created this world and everything on it, including humans.  He gave himans curiousity, intelligence, the ability to learn and build on knowledge.  Using those gifts, man created plastic, and now that plastic ends up in the ocean, in the gut and flesh of marine animals; who do we blame for that?   Bees around the world are dying as a result of pesticides humans created and put on crops, who do we blame for that?  Those are just two tiny examples of how human behavior has impacted nature.  There are many more.

If God has given us intelligence, curiousity and the ability to learn, and we use those gifts in ways that destroy the gift of his earth, perhaps he also expects us to use the gifts he gave us to turn that around - to treat his gift with respect, rather than burying our heads in the sand and declare "it's not happening".   Or blaming the liberals if it is happening.

Anyway, attitudes like yours as a mainstay of the Conservative party are part of the reason why so many remain hesitant to vote Conservative, even if they don't like JT; at least Liberals acknowledge the problem, even if they're shit at actually doing anything about it.

Of course anyone would oppose dumping plastic in the ocean and would oppose doing other things that harm the environment.  There is difference between that and what you and liberals, and environmental radicals are claiming.  Big difference between pollution that you can see and know is caused by people and the climate change which has no proof it is caused by man.  God did give us intelligence and the responsibility to take of the earth in things that we clearly can control, such as not dumping our plastics and garbage in the oceans and rivers.  But you still can't make the leap to claim that we are causing the climate to get too hot.  That is a ludicrous claim.  Liberals believe it because they have been trained to believe whatever their leaders and the globalist liberals/Marxists tell them.  They are not particularly believers in a God who created the earth and everything in it and controls the climate.  They distrust man and think like environmentalists who blame man for everything that is happening.  If they could they would blame man for using too much oxygen in the air we breath and put a tax on it.

I don't trust the Conservative Party.  They have gone down the drain and become more like liberals.  There is no choice for the voters today.  Politics is corrupt and destroying our country.

Laughing is no argument.

The question now is why those people who control us with those billions and trillions of useless dollars don't give some of it to you and me. What do you think?

When the useless money gets into your pocket in a small amount, it actually becomes useful.  You will buy a new cottage

buy this buy that and if money is more you will be outside their sphere of control.  If they did that to more people, all were going to do what you do and at one point, the fact the money has no backing was going to be revealed.

To be honest, there's only so much 'stuff' out there to be bought, and buying more stuff just creates a bigger landfill issue.

If you gave your kid $500 to shop at a toy store they'd bring home a bunch of crap that they be throwing out in 10 years, but they'd only use it for a week.

I don't care how much stuff I have, a realistic goal for any Canadian is to be mortgage free and maybe have a rental or two. I upgrade my TV every 5 years or so, go on a vacation or two a year, then I work like a slave. But I'm definitely not complaining about life the way it is now. Trudeau is making things much worse for everyone though.

If CNN gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

If you missed something on the Cultist Narrative Network, don't worry, the dolt horde here will make sure everyone hears it.

Kamala didn't get where she is because of her achievements or anything that came out of her mouth.

Funny, then, that climate scientists have been predicting the effect the greenhouse gasses we spew into the atmosphere for more than a century.  Of course, the first scientists to say so were laughed at, but as the decades have passed and more has been observed and learned, the conclusion that the greenhouse gasses humans create affects our climate has become inescapable.

In the 1990s or so, climate scientists predicted more extreme weather events happening more frequently .. and that prediction has been borne out by observation and data.

How could scientists develop a theory, make predictions based on that theory, have the predictions come true decades later, if it was all made up by liberals?

Climate change is slow, but slow is not the same as non-existent.  I'll be dead and maybe my kids, too, but if we don't get a handle on this, my grandkids will have a tough time.

Although, given that there's now evidence that our chemicals may be resulting in smaller penises and wide scale infertility, the effects of climate change may not matter.

Yes, there is only that much that can be bought.   And my thought and argument is exactly that most of the money is just a cloud of influence as nothing can be bought with it.  From memory in my socialist country a mortgage was typically discharged in 15 years.  In Canada it is usually 25 years but can be up to 40 years. People do not enter the housing market easily either.  In my case it was never the right time to buy - years wasted to pay fees to bring a spouse and a kid over, then in between jobs, then in a low paying job, then back to university.  By the time I managed to buy it was 15 years down the drain; paying the mortgage will put me close to retirement.  And this is what the system wants and is based on - slaves!

Debt is a weight on one's mind and affects one's health.  One loses independence for a very long period of time.  The "high standard" of life means high prices, which also means that if one loses his/her job, they sink like a rock straight to the bottom in no time.   And all this combined manifests in the number of suicides, overdoses and homeless people on the street.

I can go with one vacation a year - 2 weeks, but I do not feel this is enough.  I get no sick days either; interestingly haven't been sick.

I do envy those guys who can take a year off, go sailing to the Caribbean , go around the World or do some prolonged research trip in an exotic place.   We have only so many summers and good days.  Can't waste them and trade them for money.

When you say scientists, you mean some scientists.  There are thousands of scientists who disagree with the global warming or climate change activists.  There is absolutely no proof that man is the cause of climate change or excessive global warming.   You will have to do some studying to read the opposing side of the debate if you are going to have an informed opinion.  I am not going to post the whole article here because this is not a debate about climate change.   We have gone through that before. But if you want to you can read it at this link.

And our democratic institutions - free press, freedom of information - worked as they should-the public was informed, JT was (at least) embarrassed and many Canadians are looking at Trudeau differently.

The public was not informed though dialamah. That's the problem.

Literally everyone over 17 years of age in Canada knows who Dr B. Ford is, because promoting hatred of Trump is a favourite pastime of CTV and CBC, but almost no one knows who M Fournier is. That's a huge problem.

Trudeau ended the whole We scandal by saying: "This is an instance where I merely should have recused myself from the obvious choice to select We (ie, the company that funnels gobs of taxpayer money directly to my family for virtually nothing)."

What he said wasn't true at all. The We scandal reeked to the high heavens in many ways, in fact it wouldn't have been a scandal at all to select We if there wasn't already a scandal lurking in the background. Our media just let that scandal fade off into the sunset after Trudeau made his fake apology. It's like if Hitler apologized for using swearwords and the media started talking about other things.

Just remember that Duffygate happened in 2012 and the MSM here was still calling it an election issue in late 2015. Trudeau's We scandal alone was over 100x as much money and it lasted less than a year.

Many scientists believe in God and also believe in genuine science.  People can believe in God and legitimate science.  Your problem is you have blinders on and can't see the real world, which was not a cosmic accident.

Ten famous scientists who believed in God:

"Often at times, when you think of Scientists and religion you don't think of them in the same spectrum. However, history shows us that not all scientists are atheist and not all scientists are theist. And it is the same today.

Some of the renowned scientists believe in God. Charles Darwin is famous for his work on the theory of evolution. Although later in Charles life he have conflicts in Christianity particularly in regards to "problem of evil". Despite the struggle, in his a letter to John Fordyce, 7th May, 1879 he wrote "I have never been an atheist in the sense of denying the existence of a God." And in 1956, Albert Einstein stated "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind" published in Ideas and Opinions. New York: Citadel Press, p. 26.

In this article we will look briefly at 10 famous christian scientists that impact the world and the reasons why they believe God exists.

1. Nicholas Copernicus (1473-1543)

Copernicus was a famous astronomer who lived and worked in Poland. He was the first scientist to propose the first-ever system based on mathematics that planets revolve around the sun. After studying at several universities in Europe, he was made a Canon of the Roman Catholic Church, in the year of 1497. He presented his innovative system for the first time in 1533, in the Vatican gardens in the presence of Pope Clement VII who not only approved the idea but advised the great scientist to publish it as well. Copernicus mentioned God many times in his treatises and did not find his new system contradicting the Bible in any way.

2. Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1627)

Bacon was an English philosopher and was the founder of the scientific method of research that is based purely on inductive reasoning and experimentation. In his work De Interpretatione Naturae Prooemium, he stated that among other things his goal was to serve the church. He opined that atheism was caused by a lack of depth in philosophy, while profundity in philosophy turns the mind of men towards religion. Besides, when the chain of natural phenomena was seen as something unified and duly interconnected, it will definitely lead to Deity and Providence.

3. Johannes Kepler (1571-1630)

Kepler was a bright astronomer and mathematician. His early work was on the nature of light, and then he went on to establish a sun-centered planetary system. He was an extremely devout and sincere Lutheran and his treatises astronomy in which he postulated that all heavenly bodies and space symbolized the Trinity. Strangely he was not persecuted for the frank affirmation of his sun-centered system.

4. Galileo Galilei (1564-1642)

The great Italian astronomer Galileo published his contentious work concerning the solar system, in 1633. This brought him into serious conflict with the Roman Catholic Church. Later, he was put on trial and was banned from teaching his sun-centered planetary system. In spite of these, Galileo explicitly stated that the Bible can never go wrong, and considered his system a mere alternate version of the Holy Bible.

5. Rene Descartes (1596-1650)

Descartes, the well known French scientist, philosopher, and mathematician have been hailed as the father of contemporary philosophy. His academic studies left him with a deep dissatisfaction of the philosophy, he had studied until then. He was a devout Roman Catholic, and his deep faith lasted till his dying day. He also tried to establish that the reality of God as irrefutable, for without whose existence mankind would be deceived by their experiences as they cannot trust their logical thinking and five senses. This made God the core of his entire philosophy. He also wanted his philosophy to be accepted as part of regular Roman Catholic teaching. Although Descartes was the main figure in the founding of scientific methodology, God was central to his system as he was extremely pious.

6. Blaise Pascal (1623-1662)

Blaise Pascal was a French physicist, mathematician, writer, inventor as well as a theologian. He published a mathematical treatise on projective geometry as also laid the foundation for the theory of probability. He also invented a mechanical calculator and laid down the principles of air pressure and vacuum. A devout Roman Catholic, he had a vision of God in 1654 an event that transformed him from a scientist into a theologian and soon published his theological work, titled Lettres Provinciales. Another such work entitled Penses was essentially a justification of Christianity.

7. Isaac Newton (1642-1727)

Sir Isaac Newton, the noted English scientist is an acknowledged genius and innovator in the fields of mathematics, mechanics, and optics. He considered numbers and mathematics the core of his entire science which included chemistry too. However, few people know that he was deeply religious and considered numbers as the path to the understanding of God's design for human history as envisaged in the Bible. Newton did substantial work in the field of biblical numerology. To him, physics is a system in which God was indispensable to the completeness of space. According to him, the sun, comets, and planets belonged to the most harmonious system which could continue only with the guidance and authority of an omnipotent and intelligent being.

8. Robert Boyle (1791-1867)

Robert Boyle was a founder member of the prestigious Royal Society and his Boyle's Law on gases laid the groundwork on the topic. chemistry. As a pious Protestant, he was extremely interested in the promotion of Christianity overseas, and to this end paid for the translation and publication of the New Testament into Turkish and Irish. According to him, the study of nature was the core of his spiritual duty. He often criticized the atheists of his day.

9. Max Planck (1858-1947)

Planck the famous exponent of the quantum theory, revolutionized man's understanding of both the atomic as well as the sub-atomic fields. In a lecture he delivered in 1937, he professed that God is omnipresent and the sanctity of the incomprehensible Godhead is expressed by the godliness of symbols. He thought that atheists gave undue importance to mere symbols. Planck believed in an omniscient omnipotent God, although not a personal divinity. Along with science, religion waged an untiring war against dogmatism, skepticism, superstition, and unbelief with the battle cry of "toward God."

10. Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Albert Einstein is the best known and most highly respected scientist of modern times. He has revolutionized our perceptions of time, space, gravity, as also the way matter is converted into energy through his famous formula E=mc2. He never believed in a personal God, but held that the universe was created. In fact, he wanted to find out just how the universe was created by God. Interestingly, he was quite uninterested in any phenomenon but wanted to know God's thoughts, the rest being mere details. His pithy comment on the uncertainty principle was God doesn't play dice. His famous saying "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind," truly reflects his idea of the nature of God.

10 Famous Scientists Who Believe That God Exists | Science Times

I do not know how many or what percentage of scientists today believe in God.

I use a search engine to find out a lot of things.

There is a common misconception that science and God or science and the Bible are at odds, but this is not correct.  A little study will show that science and the Bible can both be believed.  There are varying opinions about what constitutes genuine science and what does not.

Numbers or percentages of groups are not a determining factor in what is truth.  This has been proven over and over in history.  Most people once believed the earth was flat.   Science has often changed it's theories as new information was discovered.  Even in this modern age of the 21st century, a whole lot is not known about things like the Coronavirus and recommendations about how to deal with it is changing frequently.  Science clearly does not have all the answers.  That might surprise many people who genuinely believe anything that some scientists say must be infallibly true.

You know I think your vision is very limited.  You need to broaden your knowledge about the universe and include things that are foreign to you in the past, such as how the universe came to be.  Many famous scientists believe that God exists and created the universe.   It might shake your belief system and trust in left wing liberalism, but the truth is what matters.

Yeah, I think such are a matter of record, and given the times in which some of them lived, not surprising.

I was wondering how many of our current crop of scientists believe not just in a supreme being, but in the literal interpretation of the Bible.

I was a devout Christian at one time.  Probably not a sect you'd recognize as "Christian", but they had the usual beliefs about God, creation, science, gays, abortion, and unbelievers.  In other words, I've already explored that world; it is not the least foreign to me.

I'm not now, nor have I ever been, a die-hard "left-wing liberal".   I came on this forum 5.5 years ago because I was interested in learning more about Canadian politics, and the difference, if any, between Liberal and Conservative - I didn't even know what camp I fell into.  It has been educational, for sure, but not in the way I expected.  And I'm still going to vote either Conservative or Liberal, as I deem appropriate, and as I have done my entire life.

Some do, and I think for some of them, it's more that they believe God had a hand in things, not that the Bible is a literal record.

OTOH, I watched a documentary about American Evangelicals and there was one young woman who'd completed university with a scientific degree (can't remember what), specifically to prove the Bible was absolutely accurate.  Some mental gymnastics going on there, but it takes all kinds I guess.

Oh and good old Pew research did actually ask.  In America, 33% believe in God, and around 18% in a higher power.  That is compared to 95% of the general public believing in a higher power.  And the survey was done in 2009, so numbers may be a little different now.  I believe atheism is gaining ground everywhere.

I can understand a scientist being agnostic.  After all, science is the search for truth, and as there is no way to prove the non-existence of a supreme being, it's a reasonable position to take.  As long as it doesn't take up too much of their time.  They have diseases to cure.  Other planets to reach.

But a scientist who believes in God is acting on faith.  Nothing wrong with that.  But they are no longer scientists when they do.

it's nice for consumers of information to be spoonfed that which they will automatically believe, just as larvae are fed in a hive or ant colony. Because a scientist said so.

But to be the one actually who thinks it up, who comes up with these paradigm-shifting breakthroughs in ideas requires someone with a great imagination.

Another reason why practical communism failed- it promotes athiesm and suppresses freedom of thought. That is why there are no great and inspired thinkers after communism. Only Chernobyl builders.

Hahaha, because a Priest said so, you mean.

Yeah, arseholes.  Couldn't happen to better ideology.

Marxism is the far left. Anything at the extremes is going to fail, and should fail. But more moderate ideas from it are all not bad. In other words socialism is ok, taken in moderation, of course. Just like Irish whisky   ;)

That is a ludicrous claim.

It is not a ludicrous claim for scientists who have spent decades in universities and did data based research.

But you are over all of them put together, shining like a star in our political forum.

Haven't had much wine this evening , so beware!  ;)
