Depend where you are and what food you are looking for.

Where I live here, it's almost all local meat & produce, I'm surrounded by farms here.

I'm surrounded by farms too but most of them grow sugar beet and rapeseed. A lot of our fresh veg comes from Spain and Dutch greenhouses. Funnily enough, people don't seem to be hoarding the veg and the supermarkets are full of it still. I am considering buying a load, cooking off some stews and curries etc and freezing it for later.

Bread, flour, milk, rice and pasta seem to be the shelves which are empty.

I think when we rebuild the economy after this, food security should be enshrined in all regional planning.  Having a vast local food supply isn’t just good environmental stewardship, it means you can essentially function independently.  I think we will be returning to the self-sufficient duchy or princedom, without a prince.  Towns will still be connected to the larger network.

After the shortages in WWI and WWII you would have thought that Britain would have made more of an effort to become self sufficient but memories are short and money talks so we grow too many useless cash crops like sugarbeet and rapeseed. Plus now we are growing large amounts of biofuel too.

Though apparently in Italy they haven’t had food scarcity, but Italians eat local food and have plenty of it.

I don't think anyone has had real food shortages yet that weren't caused by panic buying and hoarders. Early days though and the international distribution networks haven't started to fail.

There are plenty of small farms and grocery stores stands out and about in the countryside to be able to handle all the shortage of food that has been created by the "sky is falling down" people out there. Maybe outfits like Walmart and Costco will be out of toilet paper and bread or whatever else but there will always be the small business farmer around. And besides the food they sell is a lot more healthier for us all. All those big corporate globalist grocery stores have been trying for decades to try and get rid of those out of town farms and grocery stands along the highway but thank gawd they have not succeeded yet. They hate competition and real free enterprise.Just private enterprise, and they will try to force the small time guy/gal out of business if they can get some of their lackey politicians to go along with them and shut the small guy/gal down. Such deplorable people indeed. :(

The leftys do not care about anything anymore. They pretty much have become a bunch communist misfits and ANTIFA thugs who are paid actors to go out there and stir up the shit against we the people who are trying to get by and who try to be peaceful. Btw, what is with the quiet all of a sudden about global warming and the Indian blockades that were on the news pretty much 24 hours a day? Even Trump has been given a bit of a break. Is it all old hat now? It sure looks like it to me. After this virus hoax is over I wonder what they will be told to do next to report on to try and get the lemming "sky is falling down" fools to believe. It won't be all that hard for them to do for sure and cry wolf once again. Report and create a panic situation over something and they are off to try and get the sheeple all into a panic over another manufactured crisis. Aw well, some people never seem to learn the real game that is always being played against them and probably never will.  :D

You need to look into biohacking. Don't let normalcy bias distract you. As annoying as this is, it's smart to take a little precaution.

The precaution that I am always trying to take is the one where I try to defend myself from our politicians who have nothing but contempt for me, and who are only good at raising or creating new taxes, creating more government, rules and regulations, and always trying to take my freedoms away. It's getting to the point that I am scared to do anything anymore as I may be breaking some law. I just do not feel all that free anymore. The chains being placed on my body by the government these days are really starting to get real heavy. LOL.

How old are you, if I might ask... I'm curious to what life was like when you finished high school, and found your first job, How has society changed? I know, i'm too young, and grew up in some messed up times.

I am old enough that I am now on pension. Life in my day was easy-peasy. We did not have the big government we have today. We did not have all the taxes that we are forced to pay today. We were free to pretty much do as we pleased as long as we did not get into trouble with the police and the law. We did not have the many thousands of new laws and new rules and regulations like we have today. We could ride our bikes or motorcycles without having to wear a helmet. We did not have to wear a seat belt. We could sit in the back of a pick up truck. I could remember when we all drank beer while driving. It was no big deal in those days. There was no drugs or gun violence in schools or anywhere else like we see today all due to a small ethnic minority who started to bring guns and drugs to school.

All of that changed once the sixties rolled in. Then the liberals and socialists took over and began to change things and they started to implement their so called justice warrior liberal and socialist programs and agendas stuff that the majority of people never asked for. There was no bilingualism and no multiculturalism before that. There was no mass third world immigration like we see today. Foreign aid to foreign communist countries did not exist as it did after those fools mentioned took over. Drugs and gun violence and anarchy became the norm in school and in society. Thousands of gangs newly created. The gay life style and fake feminism was born and pushed onto the people. Abortion made legal. Capital punishment abolished. When Canada was pretty much a WASP country we all lived in relative peace and harmony with very few exceptions. Today we now all have to live in a multicultural hodge-podge of different cultures that will eventually destroy the old Canada that I grew up in. Multiculturalism and diversity will eventually destroy this country and it's once great WASP culture.

And Doug Ford is just a product of this society who has to deal with all of those liberals and socialists and communists who have not done one dam thing good for Canada except to try and destroy this once great nation with as much liberalism and socialism as they can and force on we the people. Ford's conservatism is and always will be under attack by those mentioned above even when he calls what is going on a state of emergency. Ford will never win with those liberal diversity trouble makers. It is a wonder that they have not blamed Doug Ford for this virus crises in Canada. It's early yet. They will always try to get Ford on something.

Until the globalist wanted to fill the prisons. I wish someone at the time, told me it's was all social engineering, and the deliberate dumbing-down of society.

The good old days of the Everly Brothers are gone. Now all we mostly get today is rap and heavy rock kinds of music. The dumbing down and the social engineering of the Joe and Mary six packs out there have been going on for decades now. Most of our politicians like Doug Ford have been behind most of this dumb downing of the sheeple. There can be no doubt about it by what we are seeing today on dumb TV. Constant talk over and over again about a so called virus every minute of every day. It never stops. It is called brainwashing. Feed the people with something 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and they will start to believe what they are being told is for real. We see that being done every day in communist countries like North Korea. All the people get from their dear leaders are the wonders of communism and they really do believe what they are being told every day that their dear leaders were born in heaven.

Now they have shut down the borders today between Canada and America. It's lock down time, baby. The rest of the world is on lock down for North American people today, baby. All that is left now is to make it mandatory that we must all stay home. I would not put it pass our dear political leaders like Doug Ford to recommend that such a plan be implemented. Just wait until the next big pandemic is created and comes along in another couple of years. Aw well, what more can be said but to get ready for more. I honestly do hope that what I believe is really happening is all wrong. All just my opinion of course. Question more. ;)

He's shutting the province down. For two weeks. (hopefully)

All non-essential businesses are asked to close.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/covid-19-coronavirus-ontario-monday-1.5506445

Lots of people aren't going to get paid.

How can the EI system keep up with the vast majority of the countries largest province being sent home from work?

Presumably the EI people will have a lot of work to do and they need to do it quickly. I hope they are able to do it while working from home.

Ford is doing well at the moment. Elevated concern is the right tone.

Yes but did he really need to say what he said? I get its p.r. but was it necessary? You know human nature. The more you say do not, people will. The longer this goes on the more people will question the purpose and usefulness of what we are doing. Threatening them won't stop that. Finding a better way than thinking you can keep people under house arrest is the way we have to head. Call it what you want we are under house arrest.

The list of essential workers is a bit of a joke.

https://news.ontario.ca/opo/en/2020/3/list-of-essential-workplaces.html

It's hard to pinpoint a job/career that can't be lumped into this list that already hasn't been decimated and forced out of work.

People will smirk at the LCBO being allowed to stay open, but if they're forced to close you'll see a run on stores. Being able to have a drink in the face of all this bad news is actually a good thing.

Not sure why lawyers are still on this list. They could probably work from home anyway.

Cheque Cashing Places ERRR Money Marts is offensively on that list. But I guess the marginalized in society need them.

It certainly for me raised questions  you got to quick thanks and yes....but then this whole response at all levels of government has. Ford is a mouthpiece for others. I do not in these times blame mouthpieces for the powers that be governing them but you bet a lot of it is not making sense.

Clearly there are levels of info being held back from us and/or these bureaucrats are even more stupid  or disorganized than we give them credit for and are making it up as they go along.
