Those people's opinions are not to be taken seriously. I don't care if their feelings are hurt for no reason, that is a dumb reason to fire someone. People looking to offended and cancel people they don't like for saying something they disagree with are bad people, they should all burn in hell.

So let's flip the script.

All those people that are so sensitive about people not wearing poppy's should get over it! It's just a stupid symbol about wars that happened decades ago.

Is it OK to be offended by that sentiment?

Yeah he's commenting on all the South Asians he sees in Mississauga nowadays that don't wear poppy's and he doesn't like it. Those ungrateful people contributing to society without sufficiently paying respect to veterans.

And that has to do with Hockey how?

And ... clearly Don Cherry is unaware of the fact that 2.5m Indian soldiers fought for Britain, and 87,000 died.

The British Raj, as part of the Allied Nations, sent over two and a half million soldiers to fight under British command against the Axis powers....

Over 87,000 Indian soldiers (including those from modern day Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh) died in World War II.[2] Field Marshal Sir Claude Auchinleck, Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from 1942 asserted the British "couldn't have come through both wars [World War I and II] if they hadn't had the Indian Army."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India_in_World_War_II

As usual, racism arises from ignorance of reality and an unwarranted sense of white superiority.

Also worth noting: POPPIES WERE HARD TO FIND THIS YEAR.

There are few WWII vets left, and they were desperately looking for volunteers to sell them.

The Legion is on its last legs, as it is stuck in WWI & WWII, and was incapable of welcoming or assisting more recent vets - eg,  from the Afghanistan campaign. The old guys did not want to deal with their PTSD, and their bitter realization that they'd been used in a war for oil and uranium for the profits of rich business interests. No glory in that.

No. Wearing a poppy gives no one the moral high ground, Don Cherry is 100% wrong about that.

Maclean is still employed because he didn't say it, and he threw Don Cherry under the bus, which of course satisfies the Woke Outrage Mob who wanted his scalp.

He usually calls Cherry out for his shit. Didn't that time. Was probably concerned about going over time or something.

Regardless he apologized for not challenging Cherry and still has a job.

Right which is why they gave him a pass, calling out Cherry historically makes them think he's on their side, as does throwing Cherry under the bus after the fact.

Rock’em Sock’em Hockey was kinda corny when it first appeared almost thirty years ago and has not aged well. Things worked out a lot better for Don than they did for many of his friends who featured, e.g. Bob Probert.

Cherry was wrong. He thought apologizing would help, but the track record of cancel culture suggests it wouldn't. Conservatives are treated with a double standard, Liberals get a pass.

So you have insight into Rogers' corporate decision making, Kewl.

Remember in Canada you don't vote for the Party Leader in a General election. You vote for a party and a local candidate.

...and it is little wonder that the Conservatives got the most votes.     Don Cherry will never experience the "shame" of Justin Trudeau.

Wearing red poppy flowers on Remembrance Day is part of "Canadian Culture"....until the woke folk say it isn't.

Corporations cave to the Woke Cancel Culture all the time, Rogers is no different. Adpocalypse strikes again.

You act like there isn't an obvious pattern here, Captain Obtuse to the rescue.

Why are you people so hurt with Cherry being fired? Such sensitive little snowflakes. You people are just looking to be offended by other people being offended.

Not happy? Simple. Don't watch SN anymore and continue to complain and whine about others complaining and whining.

I find that "you people" comment offensive and demand that you be fired!  :P

Since we're talking about Snowflake Liberals.

Here is the Royal Canadian Legion's response to the Cherry comments.

Quote

Mr. Cherry’s personal opinion was hurtful, divisive and in no way condoned by the Legion. We do remain appreciative of his passionate support for Veterans.

We know many new Canadians understand and welcome the tradition of the red poppy and will continue to educate all citizens about the significance of this powerful symbol.

Buncha Cucks.

I expect he's pretty tired of trying to cover for Cherry's bloopers, when Cherry is unapologetic and unappreciative.

But in recent years, Cherry has come to seem more and more a relic of a hockey world, and even a Canada, that no longer exists.

That it doesn't exist in the minds of the urban leftists who swell the ranks of the national media is certainly beyond question. But these people are not Canada. They don't even know Canada. I guarantee you there are more people upset at him being fired than taking satisfaction in it. But you won't see them represented in the national media.
