Womens only swimming day at public pool.

I was listening to David Menzies on The Rebel the other day, and he was commenting on how a public swimming pool in the Toronto area had gone female only for one day a week. Is this right? I this what we call equality? How can a public swimming pool say to men that they cannot go for a swim a certain day of the week? Is this discrimination against an identifiable group? It looks to me like it is. Don't the men in that community pay taxes to help maintain and keep that pool properly maintained and running? Is this a case for the Human Rights Commission then?

According to Menzies, he says that the reason for this act of discrimination was to please the muslims who's religion says that women are not allowed to associate with men in certain public areas. So, once again we see that Canada has bent over backwards to please another foreign culture and has given in to the demands of another ethnic group that does not want to become Canadian but wants Canadians to become a part of their culture. Why are these people allowed to come here and start telling Canadians as to how things are going to be done in Canada? 

Sikhs in BC don't have to wear motorcycle helmets because of their religion, yet the rest of us have too. No Christmas scenes allowed in public schools and government buildings because it may offend some other people and their religions. Now muslims get to tell Canadians that they cannot go swimming with muslim women for one day a week. Who and what religion is net? 

Why do foreign religions get their way but the Canadian tradition of celebrating Christmas is not allowed in public places?  We are told by our fake political leaders that we are to accept all religions and show being tolerant towards others and yet those others show no tolerance towards Canadian Christian traditions and religions.Is it time to put an end to all religions forcing their beliefs on others now? If Christmas is suppose to be offensive to others than muslim only swimming days are offensive also to others, and Sikhs should be force to wear helmets just like everyone else has too. Is this Canada or the rest of the world?

Try and go to some muslim country and try forcing your religious beliefs on that country. We all should know by now that will not happen. In some countries they will kill someone who is and practices Christianity. Canadians  need to stop being led by the nose by a bunch of multicultural fake politicians and the fake media that keeps telling us that we must be tolerant and understanding and not show being offensive to another culture and their religion. What about those coming here and trying to show intolerance towards our culture and Christian religion.

I think this is accomodation, not discrimination.  It would be discrimination if the Muslim women did not allow other non-Muslim women to swim at the same time.

Some gyms have women-only times, too.

So your OK with women only having one night to swim......and men having the other 6 nights ......That's accommodation. Perhaps if you where a man you would be good with that....or if you did not like swimming or going to the pool........Now what happens if a grand father or father wants to or has to for some reason take his daughter or grand daughter to swimming classes.....does he wait in the car or is he allowed to watch the class......or maybe it only applies to women...not children.....

 

And where do we draw the line in accommodation.....there are thousand of questions we could ask.....do we allow Muslims to practice and be ruled by shia law..... it is after all a religious request is it not.....do we allow for different laws to rule certain segments of the population, .....If the Main theme of the Great Canadian experiment with multi culture is to ring loud and clear....we are expected to open our hearts and minds and become one open melting pot, to adapt, to become of one race which is Canadian right a mulit colored , multi race, multi religion, etc  etc..... .....Unless that is just for white Canadians...or Canadians that where here before the great experiment started.....

Well there's lots of female-only exercise gyms because women don't want to be gawked at etc.  That has nothing to do with Muslims.  But if the pool policy is about Muslim women, well I don't know how I feel about that.  Being a public pool, that raises concerns.

I'll say one thing:  For better or for worse, Canadians are among the most accommodating people in the world.

I swim weekdays during my lunch where ever I can find a pool - I have not noticed ladies only - I see males and I am quite happy to see them

What people do in a swimming pool is a local affair. Such questions explain why Canada (and the US) are federal States.

Some societies want to forbid bikinis; others want to allow nudism. Whatever.

It happens that Canada is a bilingual State so its federal government must function in both languages. Canada has no official cultural and each province can decide who to use its public swimming pools.

These are local/private questions. In Germany, saunas are nude/open (ohne textilien). In Russia, they are nude/separate. In America, they are clothed/shared.

I've thought of that too.....do the people who are demanding this view it as an accomodation?  Or does it just embolden them to make further demands?  And where do we draw the line then?

I get that some women want women-only swim times so they're not being gawked at.  But wasn't there just a case in the news where a supermodel took a naked picture of an elderly woman at a gym and posted it, making fun of her body?  Body shaming isn't just limited to men.  It can happen in a women-only swim time too.

I think the religious requirement of gender segregation is harmful.

It's a public pool and should not be discriminating. You can say 'women only' but we all know this is 'muslim women only'. I highly doubt some girl in a bikini would be made to feel welcome on these particular days. And Muslim women don't like being gawked at? Well Muslim men love gawking at women. We certainly know that from experience. There were riots a few years back in Australia about that, and women I know have complained about groups of young Muslim men walking up and down the beach staring rudely at the girls and making them feel uncomfortable.

LOL. Do you think women care much about a small % of the female population? Do lesbian women have a significant physical dominance over other women like men have over women? How many sexual assaults or rapes do lesbians commit compared to hetero men?

I don't know about what happens over there where you are but here in Finland those "women only" swimming events mean that they are for muslim women and yet they still even swim in those ridiculous veils.

I don't think that you are getting the picture here. It is not accommodation, it is assimilation. Muslims are a religious threat to all non-Muslims, and will never assimilate into any culture. Their aim is to force their beliefs and culture and Sharia law on any country that allows them to enter. The bigger the numbers they become in a country the more of a threat they become to the host people of that country. All one has to do in order to see what is happening in Europe today, where millions of Muslims have been allowed in, needs to do some Youtube viewing. Accommodating them only encourages them to want to push for more of Sharia on the local non-Muslim population and to accept more of their beliefs and culture. 

And why are there women's only gyms anyway? Isn't that a case for discrimination against men who may wish to enter? Whatever happened to equality where men are suppose to show equality towards women but women don't have too. There have been many instances where men had to give up some of their men only clubs because it was found to be showing discrimination towards women. It would appear as though women can have their cake and eat it too. Something wrong with this picture.

Ah yes, the great multicultural boondoggle experiment that appears to treat white men like they are second class citizen's at times. White men seem to be taking a lot of flak these days from these pro-multicult politically correct programs and agendas that appear to be very anti-white male. White males seem to have a problem trying to get a break these days unless you are a gay white male then you get a free pass. The line has been drawn in the sand, and the white male better not cross that line or look out.

And as a man I enjoy female company. Just having to look at men only in a swimming pool is not my cup of tea. Yuk. But there should no way be any segregation allowed in any public swimming pools where taxpayer's pay for those pools out of their taxes.

Personally? Yup. Kids have rights in Canada too, don't they? I am pretty sure that after nine o'clock at night most kids are in their beds tucked away. Our fake politicians always talk about no discrimination will be allowed in Canada but at times they seem to promote it. It would appear as though those muslim women are hard to please. They keep the men out and as you said they still go swimming in their costumes. Ridiculous. It is probably just some of those muslim women trying to give a hint to some of the non-muslim women that they should cover themselves up also. Look more muslim. Creeping Sharia.
