Breaking news!

For the second time this month ...

Protesters halt flow of crude

The flow of oil through Enbridges Line 9 has been been shut off by a group of protesters.

Spokesperson Lindsay Gray says they simply walked on site at 5461 Mandaumin Rd. and used the manual hand wheel to curtail the flow, then chained themselves on site to prevent the valve from being turned on again.

These people need to be charged with terrorism offences, and a example made out of them. This eco terrorism must be stopped. This country is getting to expensive for the average person to live and it is only going to get worse.

Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

So you'd be okay with me going to your house and shutting off the natural gas or oil input line right? You can get by without heating?

I assume you're also prepared to walk or ride a bicycle wherever you go, so as to not use fossil fuels.

The protesters should be sued by Enrbidge, presuming they have any kind of assets at all. Then a good, solid electric fence around the site to kill anyone who tries to get in should be installed.

A brave and expensive move. I would imagine that somebody chaining themselves to anything on a weekday would keep them from going to work at their regular job and losing a days pay.

Or, they don't have a job.

no shyte! What kind of self-respecting "eco-terrorists" actually gives advance notification to an oil-company of their intent... as these 3 did!

Do you guys really want a society where disputes are settled by breaking into private property and disrupting lawfully-conducted business?

Or does that only apply to causes you agree with?

Will you be as excited when anti-abortion activists do the same? Anti-windpower activists? How about when anti-radiowave activists manage to shut down cell-phone service in your area?

Oil companies need to be charged with eco-terrorism every time a pipe breaks or an oil rig goes BOOM. The tarsands alone are very detrimental to the environment.

That is assuming everything the company is doing, is on the up and up. Which is something I doubt. I don't really approve of this myself, but if the authorities cannot help, then you start to help yourself.

Some causes are worth inconveniencing yourself to show your support. Other causes are worth inconveniencing others to show your support.

Some causes are worth sacrificing your life. Other causes are worth sacrificing (taking) other peoples lives. Yet other causes are worth doing both.

Under certain conditions, some people seem to lose a sense of reality.

We're not really in to vigilante justice in this country.

Based on what? What reason do you have to believe Enbridge is breaking the law?

That's what Robert Lewis Dear decided.

Yeah, there seems to be a great deal of assumption without a great deal of evidence. It seems to be a common theme with this subject.

I don't really have a reason aside from me being skeptical of a large monopolistic company like Enbridge is all on the up and up.

yeaaaah, and Robert Lewis Dear was pretty sure that Planned Parenthood wasn't on the up and up either. You guys just like the eco-warrior cause better than the pro-life warrior cause.

The rule of law is a pretty big deal for me.

Exactly. I support the right of that Nun (jailbird) to protest outside clinics, as long as she doesn't try to stop legal abortions. I also support the right of Eco Warriors to protest outside pipelines, as long as they don't stop legal oil.

Same kinda thing.

That's so adorable that you think they have real jobs.
