What are the MLW rules on profanity?

Recommended Posts

The internet breeds a lot of people who say things online that they would never say to someone in person. Once I confront someone and wish to meet up in person they crap their pants and make all manner of excuses as to why they cannot meet up in person. Anyone who accuses another of being scared is most likely actually scared basement dwelling neck beards themselves.

On a political message board, I still want to be able to say whatever the f*** I want (as long as it's lawful). Isn't that a fair viewpoint? Free speech, unless it's threatening/abusive/hate-speech etc.? I can say the F word on The Comedy Network but not a freaking political message board?

I'd like to know the rationale as to the reason why profanity is banned on MLW? I see other political forums with no such censorship?

There are many opinion boards where you can say what the f*** you want. There are many opinion boards which will allow you to register only if your real identity is being used. Each board has its own parameters. The posters who continue to post here accept the parameters maintained here - that is why they continue to post here.

I suggest that rather than attempting to change the parameters here that you find a board which adheres to your parameters - then you may be happier with the environment and share it with people with your own sensibilities.

Have a lot of free time lately?

apparently, drawing any reference to any American source... is a, as described, "(Canadian) love affair with all things 'murican"! Of course, perpetually drawing attention to that perception says more about the person drawing the perpetual attention to his perceptions.

Which is a fair description of what amounts to trolling, n'est pas?

Creepy....

Sounds like you have a lot of time on your hands.

Creepy....

I just will not hide behind a computer like some sniveling wimp. I'll put my money where my mouth is. Lots of people on the internet are really just wimps who are afraid of their own shadow imo. Afraid to say things face to face. I am not. That's all.

I don't see what's creepy about being willing to meet up in person face to face. if anything it's creepy being all brave on an internet forum but unwilling to talk to that person face to face because you're too scared.

I'd like to have it mandatory to sign up here with your real name. Same goes for all internet outlets. Real ID all the way. If you're too scared to say what you say with your real name out there you probably shouldn't be saying it.

Some do. Why don't you?

Suppose you are a public servant and want to say bad things about the public service or the government? You'd have a major risk of getting in trouble with either colleagues or your boss.

Suppose you're in the private sector but work for a member of the other party, and he doesn't like your opinions? It's all very well to talk about bravery, but not everyone runs the same risks.

I guess.
