Can you provide an example of the celebrated extreme left? I can't think of any.

I didn't say they were 'celebrated'. Are there any 'celebrated' extreme rightists in Canada? Are we talking just within Canada? I think we'd have to figure out what qualifies as 'extreme left' in that event. But I would, offhand, say anyone who is willing to go to where some conservative is supposed to give a speech in order to try to physically disrupt it would qualify. I consider anyone who believes in Marxism, Communism, or Socialism to be extreme left, as well ( I differentiate between social democrats and socialists).

Sunnyways has not been banned. At least, he/she/it is still listed as a member.

The member's name is blacked out.

Same with KeepitSimple. Can no longer click on either member's name to get their information, PMs, etc.

Hey folks, if you have enough money, you can find out the identity of anybody on this board.

You are never completely anonymous - just hard to find.

If you have enough money, you can find out my identity right now.

Neither member is in the membership list any longer.

Yet they're not listed as being banned the way Rotary is. I have no idea what's up with them. Simple has been here ten years. It would be a pity to ban him.

It's a mystery.... maybe a Mod can fill us in.

We have said this before, but to reiterate - the moderators do not discuss actions that have occurred between them and members as a rule. These events are considered private.

Well, they're not actually members any more, are they?

What a ridiculous stance.

Why do you say that?

No, they are not members any more but the information is still considered private.

We consider that to be courteous.

All I was looking for is confirmation that a member whose username is blacked out is actually banned... or is there another possible explanation?

I can remember some who left in disgust. Peeves and American Woman come to mind. I too think it would be nice to know if a member just left, or was banned.

What difference does it make if somebody uses two accounts? They may choose the process to reinforce the views of each other and put the squeeze on some anonymous avatar he does not like.

I believe that it is quite common for a site owner to own more than one account on his/her site. That way they can act as a catalyst when the action is "slow". I still believe that there is one avatar on this site that is used by the owners to irritate individuals and promote more postings. There could be no other reason why he (?) is allowed the leeway to irritate at will.

back-channel discussion on assorted boards I frequent is ripe with views that sock-puppetry is a long-standing outlet for moderators... particularly good for slow periods. The one problem in how that outlet is assumed to be used/abused is that it accepts that a moderator would extend on the practice to actively target and suspend members who play into the sock-puppetry... surely no moderator/board with principle and integrity would ever do that! Surely.

as for multiple-accounts, the standard should be whether the multiple accounts are both/all active. Clearly member 'rotary'... by the very moniker chosen and his posting style/content, wasn't disguising himself. If member 'rotary' chose to create a new membership while his prior member-self was suspended, that, to me... is the epitome of just how failed this board moderation is. Banning a most contributing member, one many of us on this board considered valued, is exactly what one would expect here.

Transfer .25 bitcoins to the following address .. :D

I received the payment, did my professional searching on this site and found out the following:

45% of those who pretend to be female are really male.

Only 10% have University degrees and about 60% have graduated from high school.

Generally, the more prolific the poster the better the chance that they are unemployed.

2% post while they are naked.

10% post only when they are high on something.

If you forward 2 bitcoins I will send the names associated with those figures. ;)

Yes, SunnyWays is banned. Ditto Keepitsimple. (connect the dots...) I am not sure why they up as not existing, rather than "Banned". Will discuss with those in the know. But yes, they are banned.

Probably because they weren't just banned, but deleted. Edited by Charles Anthony

The moderators don't engage in sock puppetry on MLW.

I would have no objection if moderators created alter-egos to engage in political discussion, as long as they're mature enough not to then go back to their other ID to punish those they're losing arguments with. A better idea is for moderators to take part in discussion as they choose, as happens on other sites.
