I suggest that with Islamophobes, xenophobes, racists and/or bigots that it is sensible to apply the "duck" rule:

"If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck."

If you want to duck (sic) the label then don't opine like one.

This is exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about. Clearly this individual is insulting me, however much he thinks he's avoiding the rules by not referring to anyone by name, but the intent is what I think should be taken into consideration in leveling warning points.

But there are advantages to using anonymous opinion boards rather than face to face. For example, if somebody says ""Yeah? Go f*ck yourself" to someone face to face, they may find themselves being made painfully peaceful. Here, one is restricted to false bravado because of the anonymity and the guarantee that your sputtering goes the way of hot air.

Generally, people who call other people morons and idiots or worse in the real world are held accountable for their words and actions. They generally do not repeat that error.

This is the second time you've suggested that you'd like to resort to physical violence towards me.

Of course, I have no doubt in real life you wouldn't dare speak so freely to people. Those who feel the need to strut and swagger and make threats on the internet are usually compensating for their own cowardice in real life.

To you, any criticism of any kind towards any non-white person or group is racism.

Oh I'd nail you (and bcsapper) for saying 'illiterate rednecks' too!

Both MacKinnon and Fisher have made the point that all the talented, educated, skilled, entrepreneurial refugees headed north to Europe, and what we're getting is the poor, rural olive growers and cigarette salesmen. Both have also made the point that these refugees will need expensive and ongoing care from the government for a very long time. That's an added and unneeded cost to taxpayers. And I honestly could not care less if saying so offends your dainty sensibilities.

Your biased grumpy rantings are of no value.

Prove it: Stats, links, etc.

Or ... Go for a walk in the sun instead of catastrophizing about imaginary problems that don't exist and don't affect your quality of life anyway.

Really? Does this sound... familiar to you?

I think it was the offensive campaign against the Saudi people that really turned the world against them. Bad call, stupid arrogant ignorant campaign, made themselves look like redneck a$$holes, which appparently they are cos they don't seem to understand why it was a stupid thing to do.

That's you, in case you're wondering.

I don't have to prove anything. Fundamental logic would be enough even without MacKinnon and Fisher telling us about it. And if that wasn't enough there are the stats showing the economic success of immigrants from various source locations in the world, and which attest to the fact those from the middle east are near the bottom in terms of earnings.

High taxes affect my life. Bringing in tens of thousands of people who will not be able to support themselves cause my taxes to rise even higher.

Yes I know. I've done some soul searching since then.

The 'ethical oil' campaign did make Canada look ignorant and stupid, but the smear was out of line.

Those weren't rednecks.

Those guys never worked an honest day in their lives.

They were ignorance and stupidity in suits with laptops, 'communications specialists' ... who misjudged their audience.

I don't have to prove anything. Fundamental logic would be enough

It's a lot harder to moderate against generalities such as 'stupid people on here' or 'stupid Canadians' ... who is that insulting ? Stupid people ? Is somebody going to come to me and say 'I am stupid and this post insulted me' ?

I call these IANs or 'Insults Against No-one-in-particular' ...

"Some of these people LIKE THE ABOVE" wasn't specific enough?

Folks,

Please refrain from trying to sneak personal attacks under the radar. You run the risk of having your posting privileges suspended. Consider yourself warned.

Yes. It is specific enough. That is a personal attack. It is not acceptable.

I think a way to make everything fair is for everyone to insult and troll everyone else, then it's all equitable. Sound good smelly-pants?

Or we could just insist people talk about the actual topic under discussion and not infer, suggest or insinuate that the person disagreeing with them is deficient in character, morality and intelligence.

Such irony one wonders if that was actually a serious comment.

I'm serious. I'm just not polite to one-line wonders like you guys. Don't feel the need to be.

But if they ever make character assassination off limits I can continue to hang around and discuss things, while you will have to find somewhere else, I guess.

Of course... you just uhm <cough-cough> got here.

Fact of the matter is as soon as anyone challenges your positions you start hurling insults whether they did or not. That's why people are laughing at you carrying on here.

Yelling "racist" is not challenging a position, it's hurling an insult. And that's probably the form that like 2/3 of the posts that "challenge" Argus take.

I see you got a member banned. How does that make you feel? It's petty.

It seems that ogft and rotary got banned, thanks to the whining of argus. I will probably get suspended as well for stating this. But seriously, what harm did ogft really do except piss off argus and probably troll incessantly with bc, however bc is still here. Of course because he is a long time member.

Rotary was posting this morning, what happened? And how along ago did OGTF get banned?

Not even suspensions, but banning? Wow.

I didn't know rotary well but I really liked OGFT, I'll miss him.

Seems they were both banned this morning. I tried to look up their profiles. No luck

Argus kept insinuating they were the same. Unfortunately, the long term members get to remain. It reflects the knee jerk responses from the mods. Ogft had insightful responses. Seems a shame that argus caused his demise.

Exactly. So why the ban? Was he a real threat to this forum? Everyone knew.
