Smallc
That being said, the Obama administration has been chilling American/Israeli relations since he took office. And there is nothing wrong with that. Israel is not infallible and they never were. They don't deserve America's undying support.

Mr.Canada
I find it humourous that so many criticze Israel. What about Iran? What about China? What about Zimbabwe? Surely there are for worse. Oh, I forgot it's currently fashionable to bash the Jews. The enlightenment was 200 years ago, it seems some here would like to repeal that. Shady
They aren't treating Israel any worse than any other country. But they are. They specifically referred to Israel's settlement announcement as "insulting' and an "insult." However, when Iranian thugs were cracking the skulls of protestors during last summer's election fraud. Obama sat on his ass without anything to say for nearly a week. And when he did, he called it troublesome. And when was the last time you heard him speak of Iran's obfuscation regarding its nuclear program as anything close to "insulting?" Answer. Never. Russia just announced, while Hillary Clinton was visiting Moscow, that they would participate in building a nuclear reactor in Iran. Was that insulting? Nope. Just Israel apparently. There's nothing insulting about nuclear power. There is something insulting about making bombs from nuclear material. AIPAC's main objective is protecting Israel's interests. Just ask Franklin, Rosen and Weissman, all Americans, who were caught passing classified U.S. information to Israel. All three are/were AIPAC members and of course Israeli citizens as well. Edited March 22, 2010 by naomiglover

GostHacked
Now we have more over East Jerusalem .. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/22/clinton-commitment-israel-rock-solid/ Israel recently announced new housing plans for east Jerusalem, the part of the city Palestinians want for a future capital, drawing unusually sharp criticism from the Obama administration. Clinton renewed that disapproval on Monday, telling a pro-Israel audience that provocative Israeli land policies in areas claimed by the Palestinians are not in Israel's long-term interests and undermine U.S. credibility as a mediator. East Jerusalem is not part of Israel correct? Are any of these illegal settlements on Israeli land?

M.Dancer
Why is Jerusalem on 'Palestinian' land? Exactly. All of jerusalem is on corpus separatum (which is a terrible spell at Hogwarts). That status became null when Jordan attacked Israel and the City was diveded. It was reunited in 1967, became the capital in 1980 and is recognized as such. DogOnPorch
Incorrect. East Jerusalem is as much part of Israel as East Berlin is to Germany. The Arabs seem to have their undies in a knot more over the rebuilding of Hurva synagogue in the Jewish quarter rather than 'more settlement building'. This, of course, is the old synagogue destroyed by Jordan when they 'aparthied-style occupied' the area after attempting to wipe-out Israel. I don't know, maybe Micronesia disagrees with international law, alongside Israel. I guess the US doesn't count. After all, what is a law passed in 1995 recognizing the jerusalem is the Capital of Israel? Section 1. Short Title. This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995’’. [edit] Sec. 2. Findings. The Congress makes the following findings: (1) Each sovereign nation, under international law and custom, may designate its own capital. (2) Since 1950, the city of Jerusalem has been the capital of the State of Israel. (3) The city of Jerusalem is the seat of Israel's President, Parliament, and Supreme Court, and the site of numerous government ministries and social and cultural institutions. (4) The city of Jerusalem is the spiritual center of Judaism, and is also considered a holy city by the members of other religious faiths. (5) From 1948-1967, Jerusalem was a divided city and Israeli citizens of all faiths as well as Jewish citizens of all states were denied access to holy sites in the area controlled by Jordan. (6) In 1967, the city of Jerusalem was reunited during the conflict known as the Six Day War. (7) Since 1967, Jerusalem has been a united city administered by Israel, and persons of all religious faiths have been guaranteed full access to holy sites within the city. (8) This year marks the 28th consecutive year that Jerusalem has been administered as a unified city in which the rights of all faiths have been respected and protected. (9) In 1990, the congress unanimously adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution 106, which declares that the Congress ‘‘strongly believes that Jerusalem must remain an undivided city in which the rights of every ethnic and religious group are protected’’.
