Of course Canada has a veto on ratifying it. Lets see if we can build 100% consensus first though!

I think they will ratify it....unless of course it becomes unpopular enough.

Trudeau is on the horns of his usual dilemma with this one....If he supports it, somebody will whisper that he is just a flea on the back of the former PM who did the deal, THE SATAN WHO CANNOT BE NAMED but certainly can be blamed. On the other hand, Liberals have been foursquare behind free trade in word and action since their embarrassing flipflop on NAFTA in the Chretien days.

That's probably correct. I think that has to do with who he had to choose from and who could best fit in each position, in his view. As the Liberals say, they see all of the ministers as equals. They may change the rate of pay for Ministers of State to reflect that.

      Update from CBC:

a senior government source speaking on background told CBC News that what was presented to the public on Wednesday is, in fact, what's real: all 30 are full ministers.

Some of the Treasury Board statutes pertaining to cabinet roles, however, have to be changed to give all these roles full ministerial status and salaries, retroactive to Wednesday.

She was also an awful minister... as environment minister, she was a disaster.

And having a social conservative as Minister for the Status of Women is crazy.

Too bad she won't be the party leader.... she's a good choice for those who want to see the CPC lose the next election.

Conservatives only got 32% of the vote, so 99 seats isn't that unproportional for them. They will probably continue to support FPTP. You would think they would have learned that it is a terrible system after they had to unite the right over a decade ago.

The NDP in Edmonton have twice had front page ads stating how close they were in a couple of ridings, and to vote for Mulcair even though neither is his riding. The latest ad was a few days ago. The polls they cite are from mid August and mid Septemeber.

@ Squid, Green party's CO2 emission tax approach is far superior to the NDP's cap-and-trade approach. NDP's approach is basically the same but with higher implementation costs.
