  1. Here is what the PM said.... So how does that strengthen Quebecs postion to separate, and why have they brought it up now why not when we blessed Macedonia, or other countries we have given our official recongnition to.... Quebec does not need an excuse to seek separation , what it needs is the majority of it's poulation....
  2. It is serious, But the building is not for the JTF, or any of our anti terror network...it's for the old NBCW company, based out somewhere else in ont, not the ottawa area., they gave them a new fancy name, and a new job of the nations NBCW clean-up unit , to put that into lay mens terms they wash things, like trucks, buildings, and outside areas that have been contaminated by nuclear, biological and chemical warfare... well they do a little more than that but most of there time is spent washing stuff....This unit used to be at each one of our brigade, but was not cost effective... not since the cold war ended...(9/11) the nation wanted to outfit this type of unit once again.... be kind of like finding the blue prints for the cleaners closet....and then making it sound like something bigger...
  3. WOW Shady, all that was missing is the national anthem playing in the background, maybe the flag blowing in the breeze, and you'd have had all of standing and saluting.... good post.
  4. Yes, i have read the entire article, serveral times infact, this is not the first time i have posted this link. I posted it in ref to Eyeballs claim that stage 3 should be first. Eyeballs quote below... And if you remember that marwan comes from a family that was well off, not one that was deprived or jobless, nor one that had been subjected to discrimation on a personal level. Marwan had a brother that joined the resistance, i'd say that was the reason he joined, although he has said it was the attack on the school demostration, ( this may be the closest thing he's felt discrimated about) But he fails to give any details about the attack, and makes it sound one sided...something i've learned nothing is one sided, everything is prevoked one way or another... I mentioned Bin Ladin because he does not fit into Eyeballs theory either, comes from a very wealthy family, and what discrimination did he face on a personal level....i think he fits into stage one perfectly...and it was he's travels that brought on stage three....well after stage one had happened... Eyeballs theories are more in line with the old us Gov't ones below... Yes he does, explain, that he's pissed because they( the US and allieds) won't leave...so much that he is willing to take up arms again'st them....another good decision... But really lets think about this for a second...would this action be in the best interest of the Iraqi citizens, or for the US, this is what he is impling ....come in dispose a brutal leadership, then vanish into the night, leaving the Iraqi people to fend for themselves....to piece together thier own government and rebuild thier own country....And as much as we blame the US for all of it's faults in Iraq...has Iraqi people shown they are capable of these actions...this is why the US is stuck in Iraq, is screw if it leaves and the same if it stays.... Or would it be the actions of a responsible country to assist with trillions of it's own tax dollars to rebuild the country and keep some sort of order in place... What kind of order do you think they would have if the US had vanished into the night...what would become of Iraq on the inter national scene, would it's neibours just look on or would they have seen a weak defensless country and taken advantage of that... But what Marwan fails to really explain is why he is so pissed at the US, he fails to put it all into context, i'm sure peer presure had nothing to do with it, nor the fact his brother joined, nor the countless rumours or stories of things the allied and US have done, nor the one sided media, the one sided religious sermons, even the one sided family conversations...Nope they had nothing to do with corupting this young mans decision....to pick up arms..and once that was done, and he experianced combat, there was no turning back...and his deep hatred for the US is deepen by seeing and living with his comrads that have perished....to the piont where is is now at ready to become a suicide bomber one that will not only kill US and allied soldiers but the very people and ideas he is fighting for....(Most of the 1,200 Iraqis killed by insurgents since May 1 have died in suicide bombings.) So while we all blame the US for all this.... it's kind of catch 22 is it not....for if they had pulled out we would be blaming Marwans decision on the US for leaving and not establishing a stable country...and instead of his hatred for US soldiers would be replaced by another country, or religion or group of young men....but it would be the same thing Marwan would be ready to take his life in order for some deep believe he is doing right....when in fact he is a product of Iraq, his culture, his religion, his family, his peers, and war...but it's not as fun to blame those....it's more Canadian to blame the US...
  5. Sorry can not make the link work, for some reason none of the links work from the national site. Story is from the ottawa citizen, by david pugileze The Defence Department has turned down an offer of six U.S. Blackhawk helicopters for its operations in Kandahar in the hope it can still acquire larger choppers for the Afghanistan mission. U.S. helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky offered the six Blackhawks, noting that it would be able to deliver the choppers to Kandahar this year. The Blackhawk, one of the U.S. army's main front-line aircraft, can carry 11 combat troops or haul a 105-mm howitzer plus ammunition. It is currently being used in Afghanistan. But the Defence Department says that is not enough to justify the purchase of the Blackhawks as a stopgap until it can get its larger Chinook choppers sometime in or after 2011. It wants any helicopters for the Afghan operation to be able to transport up to 30 soldiers and be able to carry the Canadian Forces' new 155-mm howitzer. In an e-mail, the Defence Department stated that no formal offer was received regarding the Blackhawk helicopters. "The Blackhawk helicopter does not meet the medium/heavy-lift capability required by the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan," the e-mail stated. There were also concerns that Sikorsky could not deliver all the Blackhawks by 2009, defence officials privately say. The Conservative government announced the purchase of new Chinook helicopters in the summer of 2006, but a contract has yet to be signed with the manufacturer Boeing. The Chinooks aren't expected to be delivered for at least another three years. Helicopters are critical to the Afghanistan mission since they allow for the quick transport of troops and supplies. Military officers say the use of such aircraft would reduce the number of ground convoys needed and because of that the number of attacks and casualties would go down. It is easier for insurgents to strike at ground convoys. Earlier this month, Defence Minister Peter MacKay said discussions to acquire six U.S. choppers for Afghanistan were almost complete and an announcement would be made soon. Those six are expected to be Chinooks. The Defence Department is trying to acquire the older model Chinooks to bridge the gap until the first of the newer versions of the same helicopter can arrive. Helicopters may also be leased from an allied nation. Minister Peter MacKay said discussions to acquire six U.S. choppers for Afghanistan were almost complete and an announcement would be made soon. 6. Canada turns down us offer for 6 Blackhawk helo's. Mackay reports that a deal is close for 6 used chinooks. US helo's
  7. I don't think your version of stage 3 fits, atleast not according to the links below, how does one explain bin ladin... what makes a terrorist. inside the mind of a suicide bomber
  8. This has turned into a large bucket of worms, for both sides. With dozens of wrong choices made by both sides. Regardless of whom threw the grenade, something we will never know for sure, the fact remains he was there, and did take part in the fighting, perhaps it would have been easier to call him a combatant and POW, giving NATO the right to lock not only him but all the others up until the conflict is over...
  9. I've been involved in a few of these type of incidents, and they can quickly get out of control, like this one did.... This is an example of going 0-60 in a faction of a second, one second your having a smoke with your buddy, taking about girlfriends.... the next your in combat...adrenalin pumping at the maxium, all your senses are super alert, everything is happening in slow motion....your not thinking, your reacting, and your armed to the teeth...in this case they seen kids....and did not see them as a large threat, compared to an armed adult...they acessed the threat and took off on foot after them...mistake number one...as it is a common ploy used in ambushes they could be rookies or very confident in thier security screen. and while sucessful, it should be an example of what not to do... Next what we don't now is this squads history, have they just recently loss a member, are they just coming back from a long operation etc....And i'm not making excuses or condoning thier actions but these factors do make a difference...which is why i said they can quickly get out of control...with out strong leadership present...and when i mean strong leadership i mean atleast a rank of Sgt, or a very strong Mcpl...which in this case is lacking again, atleast i can't make out any rank, nor get the impression of rank from thier actions... Imagine this, a drunk driver kills your family in car accident you and the driver survive, in those few momnets after the crash do you beat the shit out of the driver, do you take his life...or look for a phone and call the cops.... War is ugly, and for those that have been there, know ...you quickly develope awhole new set of values and morals, that do and will cloud over those that we have been brought up with in our country...As for the Canadian military we are ahead of the curve when it comes to treating this type of behavior, and getting our soldiers adjusted from combat to regular life.... and we are providing the leadership needed to contain this type of behavior...but it can happen to anyone at any time...all it takes is one bad day, and one lapse of judgement...and you've just made the papers front page... These soldiers will have charges brought again'st them, at least military charges, maybe even civil charges...but i would go out on a limb and say they will be punished for thier lapse in judgement... Just one note i'd like to mention, is that these is a situation where lethal force could have been used. and one last note where did this kid get a grenade, and who talked them into throwing it...
  10. What about a pool about when he comes back dress-up as someone else....Nah that ego would be to easy to pick-up on. It's good that we all can ban together when it comes to taking out the trash. Thanks.
  11. I've got a question, is not the defence of Canada and it's foreign policy not the same. Our do we as citizens have a chioce in which on we want to stand up for. last time i checked this mission was sanctioned by the majority of Canadians at the start, and the UN. Really what about our commitments and treaties we have signed did they not have a role to play in our governments decission at all....And then there is the "well we don't want to play in IRAQ", so yes we will take up this UN sanctioned mission gladly, to stay out of IRAQ. As for supporting US agression, and here i thought we were over there providing assistance to a elected government...sounds pretty agressive to me.... Just wait a minute, i've got to change my pants....OK i'm back, you really need to stop using that tone i shit myself easily....OK just keep the words small and talk slow maybe i can keep up.
  12. If Ali had anything to say to the US government he would have said it already, the Iraqi Government want him handed over to carry out sentence, death by hanging... chem Ali
  13. You know the only thing that pisses me off about this whole confrontation thing is, up until now i've enjoyed the same rights as everyone else on this board , i was able to express my opinions and thoughts on all subjects, and in a few seconds you've taken that all away by threatening me with quoting everything "as a military spokesmen" or as a military person with authority... Kind of ironic i think as a soldier who's made it his lifes work enforcing all of our freedoms and rights here and abroad, only to have them taken away by one Canadian with a hard on for the entire military service... I have thought about the whole thing, and i'm very comfortable with everything i've posted on this forum, including everything i've quoted as being my personal opinion.... This kid your talking about has served his country for over 25 years, As an Infanteer....I know that does'nt impress you, nor do i care. But i refused to have you or anyone else silence my personal opinion or anything else i might contribute to this board, just to boost your already huge ego... So to answer your questions yes i'm Canadian but you already knew that or should for someone claiming to know how to spell big words like macaroni, i'm an Infanteer with 1 RCR, with your past military service that info will even give you the base and location in which to start your reporting process....if you want i'll post you a link to the military police IT section, or any other dept you think you need to report me to...I've post to this forum from Afganistan, where all electronic transmission are monitored very closely with no problem, I've checked QR&O regs, and Base SOP's and the IT regulations all of which i'm conforming to. As for my military mentality, it must piss you off to no end, that it's thousands just like me are providing you the security blanket you sleep under each night. It must really get your blood boiling knowing that Canadian soldiers are involved in combat with our countries enemies. Trying to give that nation a little piece of what you sir take for granted everyday. So although laughable that you would resort to blackmailing the other members on this board for my silence. If you feel the need to report me let me know and i will provide you with all the info you need to do that...Really i can't make it any easier than that.
  14. American Woman: Canada is no different than any other nation, we have our share of bigots, and racists, pompus asses, actually we have alot of them" pompus asses" that is...but don't paint us all with the same brush as he has done...your better than that...and your better than him... I know it's hard to ignore him, kind of like dog poop on the street, you have to acknowledge it then quickly walk by....but eventually someone will scoop him up and put him where he belongs...
  15. Someone asked how it was possiable to gas millions , below is a site that breaks it all down, check the math it works out, it was more than possiable death camp. how they died
  16. Your confusing the 2 terms, one could be a freedom fighter, fighting for a cause, but as soon as he commits an act of terrorism he becomes a terrorist....
  17. I have a proposal as well, i think we should open another topic call it "Slam the US", or "kiddies corner" this would give our new friend a place to go, allowing us to carry on in the rest of the forum without his personal attacks, or non negotiable theories...
  18. Which policy, you've said it's clearly against it, show me the money, or stop making this shit up.... Show me the post that i said Canada hands over prisoners to be tortured...your making this up, like i said before you'll twist anything i say to fit your needs....your the one that needs to stop... For someone that claims he is in the know, That is still being investigated, Canada has been accused of handing over prisoners and not doing the proper follow up's which include ensuring prisoners are looked after as per the genva convention......that's public record...Part of that investagation is accusations that prisoner that we have handed over, claim to have been tortured....Despite our policy we have in place, which is clear against torture and our policy of handing over prisoners...but you already knew that... Let it go man...once again show everyone where i said that i applaud the practice, or stop making this stuff up... I'm an embarrassment, because i disagree with some of the garbage that your spewing on a public web site, or countering your attacks on the military itself..The military has it owns means to track IP addresses they don't need any help. Are you always this condescending, or is this all a show to make a name for yourself on this forum, Psst it's working your making friends all over, maybe you should start a poll, call it who likes me poll, i know, i know theres no place to put it in the bash the US topics. Yes lets not forget the fact your Canadian shall we, one is still caught up in the fading fad of lets bash americans because it's makes us look more important than we really are...., or the "direct from BC" just down from his tree to give us this important announcement....contrary to your curent believes, we are already aware the US is not perfect, and that war is bad. But we are also aware niether is our country perfect. No i'm afraid it is you sir, who has become an embarrassment to most Canadians, and you should stop it...
  19. I'm done apologizing for anything i say. you report or use what ever you like.... Once again your facts are wrong, check DND policy on the media, and tell me which rule i'm breaking...you should know that policy you claimed to have served, i have not broken any DND rule or regulation, nor have i broken any Canadian civil law in regards to the info i have posted on this forum... How in the blue bloody hell is the Admins going to get in trouble, you'll have to give me a source on that one, infact i sure everyone would be interested in that one...I think the only one that is going to get in trouble is you was the staff find out that you've somehow smuggled a computer into your padded cell. give me, better yet give all of us a break.
  20. Actually i said i did'nt care if the US waterboarded or not, i also made it quit clear that myself and the soldiers under me follow the countries policies and ROE's to the letter...how is that troublesome... I actually did say that i should not have express my personal opinion, and when dealing with the press, or egomaniacs like yourself, it actually made me pause and think...But that really puts you in the drivers seat does it not, i mean you can express your opinion, but not me, because you've threaten to use it publicly and again'st the very institution i care about.. But then again you'll do what you want, with any info i post, you'll twist it to suit you and your cause so fill your boots. If thats is the greatest thing you have to fear about our nations military , that one of it's soldiers has an opinion about the Taliban and it's murderous gang of thugs, then you got off easy did'nt you. But then again ask that same question to the men that have joined the Taliban program, that have spoken thier mind, you won't find any thier dead. killed to set the example, that speaking ones mind is a very dangerous thing...but then again so is going to school, flying a kite, listening to music, going outside without an male escort.... Give me one source that quotes the general refering to the people of Afganistan as scumbags. Or like everything else did you twist the meaning there as well...he was refering to the taliban, and all that make up that group of terrorists...Yes i said terrorist, not freedom fighters, nor holly warriors, or what ever else peaceniks call them.... i actually perfer scumbags....print that, but wait that old news... And do you think for one second that the General cares what you think, he's in charge of the very organization that is on the pionty end of this nations foreign policy, He's not paid to be polictically correct, but lead men and women into combat. And while the comment made some old ladies and peaceniks gasp it sent the message loud and clear to the right people....our troops, and our eneimies. Like i said before he's not worry if he impresses you or not, he's concerned about doing the job our nation has charged him with, and with his troops.
  21. You know this is not a bad forum, it's full of intelligent people with a wide spectrum of views...perhaps changing your approach would be a start...there has been dozens that have used your approach, all with the idea of cleaning up our forum, or insulting everyone on it....but none have stayed for very long...
  22. Here i'll make it easy for you, below is all my posts, here on this topic for everyone to judge.... As for the personal attacks, like you said in "your" defense i assumed that because you could spell words like macaroni you had to have had a large ego, with a need to prove yourself a better man or women, which i think is the latter. but hey you really have'nt said one way or the other.
  23. Much like you did with the topics "why we don't fight in Darfur", or "the Waterboarding poll".....
  24. It would not matter what was written Dancer, he'd twist it around to suit his needs. His huge ego demands it, he gets his kicks from bashing others, looking down upon them with disdain from his perch on his own social scale. He truely believes he is a better person, because he has a cause....one that is anti anything US, and anti war.....anything that can fit into those 2 catogories is something that should be scooped up and placed in a garbage bag. He has said he has served, where or how we are left to guess, but i believe his carear was short lived, due to some unknown reason but it definitely has left a bad taste in his month...and now he paints us all with the same brush, much like he does with everything that does not go his way.... As for the pool, i'd like to keep him around for awhile....maybe people will see him for what he really his...just an angry little man, with a huge chip on his shoulders.
