Keith Olbermann Suspended
ironstone replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I noticed Keith Olberman's bias the first time I watched his show when he called Sarah Palin an idiot, very unprofessional to say the least. We all have our biases in here but the truth is,MSNBC is perhaps the most blatant offender.I defy anyone to watch Olberman,or The Ed Show(can you say BLOWHARD?)or Chris("thrill up my leg!)Matthews and tell me these guys are real objective, prefessional hosts. How do they stand up in the ratings compared to FOX? Excuse me while I get ready to watch Bill O'Reilly. -
I agree that allowing BHP this takeover bid is bad for Canada overall, but I was wondering if or how many examples there are of Canadian companies with similar deals in which they profit enormously from developing countries. How important are the concerns of the people in those countries for their resources compared to Canadian profits?
-
What exactly is it about this proposed news channel that frightens you?Why do you believe that people don't have a right to have another choice in the world of news? What's so scary about a different point of view? Which news station get's the highest ratings in the US?

Apparently, being Canadian these days means not even having to reside in Canada at all, which is truly moronic. It seems that there are a lot of people who are Canadians of convenience, like Omar Khadr or the one's that live most of the time in Lebanon for example. They don't pay taxes here and contribute virtually nothing to this country, but when the sh*t hit the fan in Lebanon a few years ago, they suddenly became Canadians in need. What is it about this country that we feel that our citizens can do whatever they bloody well like in other countries and only be subject our very lenient justice system after all is said and done?
-
My guess would be that poor, innocent Omar will end up in Canada sooner rather than later, and he'll likely be given a hero's welcome by his many admirers on the left. And if he doesn't return to the side of terrorism he will end up a very wealthy man courtesy of the Canadian taxpayer.

Can you name the alleged "Nazi sympathizers" here in North America?

Would there be any controversy at all if say,the Asper family for instance, announced they would be launching another all news tv channel? The answer is of course,no,because of the Asper familys support for the Liberals.Such a channel would in fact be welcomed by all on the political left. This new channel hasn't even been aired yet and already there are comparisons to FOX News.I admit I'm curious to see what the fuss is about if this channel does become available. If Margaret Atwood(worlds most boring, overrated author) is against it,that makes me want to see it all the more. If the viewers like it,they'll watch it.If not, they'll tune back to the other popular Canadian news channels...and some even to the CBC.

Someone has mentioned this previously in here:Anthony Bennett, 52, the man Mr. Chen caught, has been convicted 28 times, in Ontario and British Columbia, starting in 1976, mainly of theft, possession of cocaine and trafficking in narcotics. On each offence, he served a few days in prison. This man is a career criminal obviously. He has been in and out of prison many times and has clearly not been rehabilitated. For those of you opposed to the current governments desire for tougher sentencing, please explain how society would be worse off if career criminals actually spend serious time behind bars?
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but "rehabilitation" comes after the crime has been committed does it not?

Don't forget that there was a time that some of the Arab countries had unconditional military and diplomatic backing from the USSR,by no means a military weakling back then.

Conflict Between Religion of Peace and Womens' Liberation

Do you believe that stories of"honour killings" are a complete and total fabrication? There has never been a single recorded case anywhere? http://www.google.ca/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4DACA_enCA243CA243&q=honour+killings+canada -
I guess I'm an old square since I prefer boxing to MMA.I admit to watching MMA if it's on and I would rather seem someone win by submission than by a knee to the face or smashing an elbow into the face of someone on his back. For me,nothing in todays MMA can compare to the best days of boxing(long since passed).Go to youtube and watch Hagler Vs Hearns,Leonard/Duran 1,Ali/Frazier etc. Having said that,I like watching Anderson Silva in the stand up position, great puncher.

Reason and logic are two concepts not embraced by the left.

This is an extreme case of sugar coating something if ever there was one. What is the reason for the existance of the Parti Quebecois and the Bloc? Why is there significant support for these parties? In case you have forgotten, there have been two votes on seceding from Canada, there will be more until they get the answer they want. I don't know whether the separatists are stupid or brilliant, given the fact that Quebec always recieves so much more financially than what it contributes to Canada. Most politicians from all sides have a sense of entitlement(hello David Dingwall)but in Quebec it seems they do it in a certain way.You know, the envelopes full of cash under the table kind of stuff, like the Liberal Sponsorship program for example.

Obama's Economic Town Hall Meeting
ironstone replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Is it a fair assumption that as long as the US economy remains stagnant,it will be entirely the fault of George W. Bush but if the situation improves it will be entirely because of Barrack Hussein Obama? -
So that would make the remaining 40% or so of Quebecers......?Pretty significant number don't you think? Was the act of rather widespread ballot fraud a corrupt act or not?
-
Have you forgotten the massive ballot fraud in the last referendum?A very serious offence if you ask me but I don't recall even a slap on the wrist for the offenders. And quite frankly, there are very few true federalists in Quebec. Most Quebecer's are fair-weather Canadians at best,as in "we want more!".

Would a leader be considered a militarist if he,in his capacity as a leader, sends more soldiers to fight someplace not on American soil?Does Obama qualify as a militarist since he,as a leader, sent more US soldiers to fight on foreign soil? And I'm still waiting for specific examples of Beck's so called hate speech....

Gov't Funded Course in Sharia Law
ironstone replied to scribblet's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I would venture to say that if Canadians are uneasy about Sharia law,it may have something to do with the rather harsh punishment they can dish out, depending on the country. Are you at all bothered by reports of someone being sentenced to die by stoning?Would you say that women are treated as equals under Sharia law?Would you like to see Sharia law here in Canada? In my opinion,I hope it never is adopted here but realistically,it's only a matter of time thanks to political correctness from the left. -
Can you give us some examples of the so called "hate-mongering-fear-mongering rambling"?

Khadr should make us ashamed to be Canadian
ironstone replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
There are about 1000 Canadians currently being held in detention outside of Canada. There must be something about young Omar that evokes feelings of sympathy in many Canadians, but for some strange reason,it wasn't evident until a Conservative became Prime Minister. If we were talking about a 15 yr old, white skinned neo nazi, would you still be shedding those tears?Strangely enough, nobody seems to have noticed that the Liberals didn't bring poor Omar back either when they were in power. http://ezralevant.com/2010/07/the-truth-about-omar-khadr.html -
Ottawa: Terrorist Group Arrested
ironstone replied to Kanadischer's topic in Local Politics in Canada
I think your theory is a bit of a stretch to say the least.Do you suppose the police radicalized the Khadr family too? Radical Islam won't go away just because you choose to ignore it. -
I think Chavez is down on Obama because he thinks Obama is even too left wing for his taste.

Ship of Sri Lankan Tamils Arrives in Canada
ironstone replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There was a photo within the last week in the Ottawa Sun which showed some Liberal MP at a protest with a bunch of Tamils. The Tamils are holding TAMIL TIGER signs and this MP has a sh*t eating grin on his face and has just told these Tamils how much he supports them and their great cause. The Liberal said his words were taken out of context(how on earth I don't know). The point is,there are Tamil Tigers here in Canada raising money for their cause. It's also been reported that a number of Tamils, regularly go back to Sri Lanka.Clearly, they face little danger over there. This was reported in the Sun,but absolutely no mention of it in the left leaning, politically correct Ottawa Citizen. That's another topic, why a so called newspaper refuses to carry significant stories that don't fit their agenda.
