I tried to ask him but he was busy helping Hamas and Hezbollah.

Does anyone remember which Ottawa university wanted to have those conversation minders? What happened with that? The idea was to have students listening in on conversations to ensure that the subject matter met left-wing politically correct type guidelines. Free speech...left-wing style.
-
Ottawa U looks so bush league just as Coulter described it.What else can you say about a university that does not allow real free speech and host's a yearly event called Israel Apartheid Week? Ann Coulter actually comes out ok here since she gets lots of publicity and she has indicated she may file a complaint with the Human Rights Commission. Now we know in advance that the HRC plans to take no action on her behalf since that's not part of their real agenda.Wink wink She exposes lame ass Ottawa U(PC U?) and will show Canadians how useless the HRC is.
-
This has nothing to do with "having no tolerance for the intolerant" but is all about having no tolerance for different viewpoints.Even Errol Mendes, law professor of the U of O,admits that Coulter's past remarks DO NOT qualify as hate speech. Speaking of different viewpoints,I just watched Coulter giver her side of the story on the O'Reilly Factor.Fact is,she can handle herself quite well. She explained the "take a camel" thing too, what they didn't show in the clip.Is it such a big deal to listen to someone that you don't agree with?

The right wingers you refer to would be the Ohio Army National Guard.Who knows how it was sparked?Did some of the soldiers get trigger happy? Were the protesters getting violent? But according to left-wing ideology, isn't violence justified as means to an end?Just ask Obama's friend,William Ayers, founder of the violent Weather Underground.I believe Mr.Ayers has been warmly recieved when he spoke at Canadian campuses in the past, although last time he couldn't get into the country. It seems most of the violent protests in North America and Western Europe are courtesy of the left-wingers.

Although I have little use for the Liberals,I don't mind Iggy too much based on some of his past comments before his return to Canada. What really frightens me is the very real possibility of Bob Rae becoming Liberal leader and eventually..... Prime Minister.

Ottawa Citizen editorial,in part:"The shutting down of Ann Coulter is only the latest example of totalitarianism on Canadian campuses. At Concordia in Montreal, thugs famously prevented Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu from speaking. At many campuses,pro-life student groups are harassed and denied official club status. When pro-choice student leaders at York University learned other students had organized a debate over the ethics of abortion, they promptly cancelled it,even though the event had been booked and flyers printed. Notice that this ongoing, organized effort to eliminate speech deemed politically unacceptable comes exclusively from the left.No one hears of conservative student groups physically interfering with left-wing speakers.A lot of conservative minded students and others were unhappy with the recent Israel Apartheid Week, but no one threatened to assault the organizers or disrupt the event." Am I now in trouble with the leftist posters in MLW because I posted directly instead of a link?Woe is me! Just read the words and ponder them, not much to ask.

Could James Cameron Speak @ U of O?
ironstone replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Seems to me that there was a very real threat of violence from the protesters. These dangerous idiots want to be judge, jury and hangman combined. Based on some of his own foolish comments,James Cameron would have the red carpet rolled out for him at the U of O. -
Should we abolish Canada's Human Rights Commissions?
ironstone replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Anyone can make claims to the HRC,but whether or not those cases get taken on is another matter. Some years ago in the Ottawa Citizen, there was a small article in which someone from one of the HRC's in fact said they won't accept cases from white males, since they are a privileged group.Of course they really meant heterosexual males but you get the point.I certainly wish I had saved that article. Sadly,I think the HRC will only keep on gaining power. -
By using the threat of violence to prevent Anne Coulter from voicing her opinions,a huge victory has been achieved for the side of political correctness and Socialists in Canada. The lefties were not content with merely having the option of NOT attendng this event, they decided that nobody else has the right to listen to her speak. Pathetic.
-
Why the cracks about Anne's looks? How would you like it if we made jokes about two prominent female icons of the left, like Judy Rebick or Sunera Thobani?
-
So what are some of the stupid things she stands for?
-
I see Anne Coulter is scheduled to speak Tuesday night at Marion Hall along with Ezra Levant. She is supposed to be speaking about political correctness, media bias and freedom of speech on this leg of her Canadian tour. Surprise! The Student Federation of the University of Ottawa is trying to prevent her from speaking it seems. For starters, volunteers have been barred from putting up posters to advertise this event. Student president Seamus Wolfe claims Coulter "Has a history of hate speech and we wouldn't invite someone who spreads hate to our campus". Apparently polical correctness is thriving at Canadian universities, but free speech is dead.Business as usual for the left eh?

Is Global Warming a Leftist Urban Legend?
ironstone replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Interesting. Is it fair to assume that the entire cost for this project would be picked up by the West? It's kind of sad that anyone with the audacity to question the global warming movement is almost turned into some kind of pariah.I've said it before and I'll say it again, nobody should be frightened by honest debate.I read arguments from both sides and then form my own opinion, thank you very much. There's an enormous amount of money at stake here, look at Al Gore, the global warming poster boy who,in a former life, didn't ratify a certain Kyoto accord. Take care people, there is life outside of MLW.Think I'll whip up a snack before Bill O'Reilly comes on. -
Is Global Warming a Leftist Urban Legend?
ironstone replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
By all means, enlighten me.What do the scientists in the global warming industry really mean when one of them says "we can't account for the lack(LACK!)of global warming"?Tell us why this candid admission doesn't raise any red flags? Assuming the global warming threat is real and is mostly man made,I have yet to hear any solutions that make sense.Giving some of the biggest emitters like China a pass is idiotic to say the least.Pollution from Canada and the U.S.is awful, but pollution from China and India is just peachy?Have you heard about massive fraud within the carbon trading market in Europe?Doesn't anyone have balls enough to come clean and tell us just how much this will cost? -
Ex-Tory MP Jaffer charged with cocaine possession

Rahim Jaffer isn't the only one to get off lightly.Didn't some lady named Margret Trudeau get off after "her charter rights were violated"?Wasn't she caught driving while impaired? -
Is Global Warming a Leftist Urban Legend?
ironstone replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Global Warming people seem to be quieting down lately for some reason. It must hurt when the foundations of their arguments seem to be crumbling around them.Lorrie Goldstein wrote an interesting article in the past week about who is paying for what.Global warming zealots have been saying for years,"follow the money",meaning look at who is footing the bill for some of the skeptics. Some of the money does indeed come from big oil. From 1996-2008,some 23 million dollars came from the largest oil company,ExxonMobil.Apparently this money pales in comparison to the amount of money spent on global warming research in the United States alone.Since 1989,79 BILLION dollars have been spent on global warming research. And still they are upset because they "can't account for the lack of global warming".It seems perfectly clear which side has been most successful in catching those massive research grants. http://www.ottawasun.com/comment/columnists/lorrie_goldstein/2010/03/10/13184951.html -
In terms of equalization payments in Canada,Quebec has been a big winner for many years. Why is it that Quebec, being rather well off in terms of natural resources and an educated workforce is so heavily dependant on equalizaton payments, primarily from Alberta?I believe they recieve something in the neighborhood of $8BILLION a year.Don't most Quebecers believe the province pays more out than they recieve and they never get "their fair share"?

What bothers me the most in this argument are the tactics used by those on the man made global warming side.Apparently anything goes. http://www.ottawasun.com/comment/columnists/michael_coren/2010/02/12/12859956.html -
I just can't find it within myself to feel one iota of sympathy for Omar Khadr or his family because of what they believe in.They and their kind would love nothing better than to see this once great nation crumble into oblivion. They hate people like me and they especially hate the people in Canada who defend and enable them, who are seen as being weak.Perhaps the the worst part is,their numbers in Canada are increasing with each passing day.Did you ever ask yourself how people like that, living among us,come to the point where they are completely filled with hatred for our way of life? You think they give a rats ass about your politically correct ideology?

I listen to CFRA in the mornings and on my way home.I generally like the station,it's a nice change from work where CHEZ 106 is always on(too much idiot dj talk,Bryan Adams,Tom Cochrane,ACDC...pretty much sums up CHEZ).Did you know Lowell Green was once in the Liberal camp many years ago?I wonder what made him see the light? I think their reputation as being right wing radio is unfair,as they always have guests from all sides of the political spectrum.Conservatives get drilled by CFRA too.

It's Her Party: The Brilliance of Sarah Palin
ironstone replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It will definately be an uphill battle for the Republicans. As for your comment,I can't think of a better example of an election NOT based on real substance than the last Presidential election. If you had been paying close attention,it was in fact,Obama that had the overwhelming support of "celebrities" and the left leaning media. He was during that time, the biggest celebrity on the planet, and little attention was given to his qualifications, which were arguably much thinner than those of VP candidate Palin.More than a year later,he is still blaming Bush for his woes. -
High Ranking Canadian Military Man.

Well just how low can you go?To suggest this is a Conservative scandal is foolish? You guys almost had me there for a moment.
