Unfortunately,I don't think the people behind the global warming industry are going to go away anytime soon. They have been exposed by their selective use of data, cherrypicking through the information to further their own idealogical agenda. If anything, they will likely redouble their efforts to silence sceptics by any means.Remember, there is an astronomical amount of money at stake here.

I think this whole Omar Khadr thing is more about the usual suspects on the left using this as another opportunity to attack the Harper government than Khadr's "rights". Where the hell were you guys when Maher Arar ended up in Syria where he claims he was tortured? Were you silent back then because this happened under a Liberal government? Were you satisfied with Harper giving him millions in compensation?
-
Did the Supreme Court ruling not also say it's up to the current government to decide whether to try and bring Khadr back or not? If there were a case where a Canadian neo-nazi had committed a serious crime like murder in a foreign country, would you be fighting to have someone like him brought back to Canada and escape the consequences of his actions? While we're on this subject, what's the latest update on that other Canadian that had his rights violated?Ronald Smith?Stuck a shotgun in the back of Harvey Mad Man and Thomas Running Rabbit.....just to see what it felt like to kill someone. How goes the fight to bring him back to Canada so he can eventually gain his freedom?
-
Don't feel too bad for Omar.Last I heard, the rest of his family is still here in Canada, sponging off Canadians, spewing their hateful bile, all the while being coddled and protected by the bleeding hearts. Why would it be a good thing for this young man(who, like his family, despises Canada)to be reunited with his family? It's not a stretch to call the Khadr family evil monsters. They will get no sympathy from me.

Broken Justice - these infuriating cases have it all
ironstone replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Forgive me if anyone has mentioned this crime before, but with slow dial up it takes me a very long time to read the topics in here. How about Paul Champagne?A DND low level bureaucrat that managed to steal well in excess of 100 million dollars from Canadian taxpayers. He recieved a seven year sentence although his actual time behind bars will be substancially less than that. The judge was apparently quite moved that he voluntarily returned from his beachfront home in the Turks and Caicos to face his charges.Wonder where he got the money for that home?Undoubtably,he has hidden millions beyond the reach of the law and he will never have to work a day in his life. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/ottawa/story/2008/04/03/ot-champagne-080403.html -
With all of the interest in polls, why are there fewer people in this country turning out to vote? The future doesn't look promising, not very many young people seem interested on voting day.

Remember, much of Canada does very nicely thanks to all the cash flowing out of right wing, hard working Alberta. We owe them big time.

Assault is assault, plain and simple.Hell,I didn't even like it when Chretien got it,and I never liked him.

You guys are very selective when it comes to polls.Didn't the polls go against the coalition attempt? But that's different right? There are many on the left that do not accept poll results(elections) that do not go their way,Bob Rae comes to mind. Funny how when one person claims prorogation is a hot topic in Ottawa, and I point out(correctly, that it depends on the crowd)you bravely toss out "moronic" and "slimy" in a shot at me.You wouldn't do it in person I'm sure,so why do it here my friend?
-
I work in Ottawa and it's a non issue for the most part.It depends on what type of crowd you hang with.Public servants would be up in arms, while most average Joe's like me aren't too upset by this.As a private sector employee,I can't just leave whenever I feel like it to go out and protest, unlike government. This still pales in comparison to the rather large corruption scandal that engulfed the Liberals.Remember the paper shredders running night and day by Chretien's gang? Fact is this would not be an issue if it were the Liberals doing it.Elsewhere in here you can read up on Bob Rae proroguing three times during his reign of errors as Premier of Ontario.

While we're on the subject of whistleblowers, does the name Allan Cutler ring a bell? Allan S. Cutler is a former Canadian public servant notable for his role as the whistleblower who reported anomalies in a Canadian sponsorship program designed to raise awareness in Quebec of the Government of Canada's contributions to Quebec industries and culture. This program was undertaken to counter Quebec separatism. The ensuing scandal implicated high-ranking bureaucrats and politicians in the Liberal Party of Canada and contributed to the setback of the Liberal Party in the 2004 Federal election and its defeat in the 2006 Federal election. [1] Cutler, who reported to Charles Guité at the Ministry of Public Works and Government Services, was responsible for negotiating the terms and prices of government advertising contracts. He objected to procurement practices that failed to follow proper procedures or ensure value for money. After expressing his concerns to Chuck Guite, he was effectively demoted. A subsequent labour dispute was resolved by his being re-assigned to a different section. [2] He testified at the Gomery Commission, providing evidence that commissions were paid for no apparent service and improper advances were made to agencies with connections to the Liberal Party. Gomery concluded that Cutler was penalized for his whistle-blowing efforts and that Mario Parent, and probably others, adopted a complacent behaviour to the mismanagement of the sponsorship program due in part to apprehensions about suffering similar repercussions as Cutler Guess your Liberals don't much like whistleblowers either huh?

This has been mentioned before, but how about the darling of the left in Canada,Pierre Elliot Trudeau, proroguing 4 times in 4 years? As for the Facebook nonsense,I wonder how many of the people on there could actually name their MP.For the "outraged" younger generation, how many of them have actually gotten off their butts and voted in an election? You're not admitting the real truth which is that the Canadian left will not tolerate any political party to the right. You believe in democracy only when it suits you,no exceptions. Were you outraged when Chretien prorogued to avoid sponsorship scandal questions?Of course not,you were just fine with it weren't you?Did you know Bob Rae did it three times when he almost singlehandedly brought once mighty Ontario to it's knees?By your own logic,Rae's behavior was undemocratic. I won't hold my breath waiting for an honest response.

Harper to prorogue parliament AGAIN?
ironstone replied to DrGreenthumb's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The reactions are pretty much what I thought they would be.Everyone glossing over over Rae's record and some jumping all over Mike Harris. For the record,I am not behind Harper all the way either. There are things he does that remind me all to much of the Liberals,he caters to Quebec too much, government is spending too much and last but not least,he is unwilling or unable to reign in all of the greedy public service unions. Compared to the alternatives however,Harper stands head and shoulders above them. -
Harper to prorogue parliament AGAIN?
ironstone replied to DrGreenthumb's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
My typo, indeed the second date goes from Dec 10/1992 until April 13/1993. This is from the link I provided. As premier, he prorogued this legislature not once, not twice — but three times. And for much longer than Harper has prorogued the federal Parliament. Rae’s NDP won power Sept. 6, 1990. On Dec. 19, 1991, Rae prorogued the House. They didn’t come back until April 6, 1992. He then prorogued again, Dec. 10, 1992 — and didn’t come back until April 13, 1993. By 1994, his government had run out of steam. They were running double-digit deficits and he’d doubled the debt. Some of his experimental policies proved laughable at best and disastrous at worst. Limping badly, he prorogued for the third time on Dec. 9, 1994. The House did not sit again until the legislature was dissolved April 28, 1995. Rae didn’t even bring in a budget that year. For four-and-a-half months, the province had no sitting legislature. Was there a grassroots uprising of self-righteous people decrying Rae for ending democracy? Did you even bother to read the article by Christina Blizzard? So you conclude that when Rae prorogues,it's for cost saving? You're pulling my leg you kidder you. -
Harper to prorogue parliament AGAIN?
ironstone replied to DrGreenthumb's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Harper is definately not a major league player when it comes to the subject of prorogation. As it turns out,Bob Rae,perhaps Harper's most vocal critic is somewhat of an expert on prorogation. While Premier of Ontario, the holier-than-thou Rae prorogued the legislature at Queen's Park THREE TIMES! From Dec 19/1991 until April 6/1992. From Dec 10/1992 until April 13/1992. From Dec 9/1994 until April 28/1995. Anyone that remembers Rae's time as Ontario's Premier knows that he was without doubt, the worst in Ontario's history. What's the opposite of the Midas touch?Rae certainly had it in spades. Notice how many months the Ontario Legislature wasn't sitting because of Bob Rae? Harper pales in comparison to silver spoon socialist Rae when it comes to prorogation. http://www.ottawasun.com/comment/columnists/christina_blizzard/2010/01/25/12605421.html Any comment about Rae?Perhaps our future Prime Minister I think those of you on the left should look in the mirror. Can you say HYPOCRITE? -

Licia Corbella on Quebec hypocrisy
ironstone replied to ironstone's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Again, can you point to something specific in Corbella's article that is inaccurate?Or is the truth just that painful? -
To suggest that what these cowards did does not merit tougher sentences than what has been handed out so far is ridiculous.Supposing they were not caught until it was too late?Storming Parliament, bombing the TSE,planning decapitations. And people like William Ashley think that the people that planned to carry this out not only do not merit serious jail time, but that they HAVE ALREADY SPENT TOO MUCH TIME IN JAIL AWAITING TRIAL!William is upset because he believes the Toronto 18's rights have been violated. William Ashley, thank you for this demonstration of how the politically correct mind thinks.

LCBO for sale says Liberals.
ironstone replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
This whole argument is not about providing more choice for Ontario drinkers,or about what is best for hard hit Ontario taxpayers, this is really about protecting highly payied public servants doing work that is in no way, shape or form, rocket science. This is a red herring from Dalton, nothing more.It will never happen. -

ironstone replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It seems to me that most judges in this country are rather left leaning and therefore inclined to hand out the most lenient sentences allowed more often than not. Today's sentence handed out to the leader of the Toronto 18 is a joke.Sentenced to life, but most likely a free man about 6 yrs from now.Lenienct sentencing, topped off by easy parole. -
