Why Canadians re-elected a Liberal government?
ironstone replied to CITIZEN_2015's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It should be remembered that Trudeau initially tried to get a vaccine deal with...China. Yes that China, the country that unleashed Covid on the world and has yet to pay any price. The massive giveaway of "free" money most certainly helped him as most of his fan base fall for his lines and have little to no understanding about where governments actually get their money. Trudeau: "WE TOOK ON DEBT SO CANADIANS DIDN'T HAVE TO" - ProudToBeCanadian You should realize by now that Justin Trudeau does not have to deliver on any of his promises. History proves that all he needs to do is preen for the cameras and keep breaking celebrity records for selfies. The bar has never been set lower in this country for a politician. -
20th of September 2021, next federal elections

Liberals winning, no surprise. We are in for more mismanagement and overall incompetence with this dismal so-called leader. More government overreach over our daily lives. I had a feeling back in 2015 that Trudeau might be near unbeatable mainly because of his name and his growing fan base. The blackface, repeated ethics violations and other scandals haven't seriously hurt him. I think this speaks volumes about the average low information Liberal supporter. As an Ontario resident my heart goes out to the Western provinces which will continue to get royally screwed by the Liberals, business as usual. -

Right now I would guess that Trudeau is still going to win even if the Conservatives have a slight lead. But no matter what the polls say I will always go out and cast my vote even knowing the Libs are a sure thing to win. I wouldn't rule out a majority for Trudeau but another minority is a huge slap in the face for this narcissist. -

As bad as some of these protesters may be I don't think they're as bad as Antifa and BLM just yet. And if they do sink down to that level then I hope the law comes down hard on them. I don't like them blocking access to hospitals any more than I like environmentalists blocking pipelines or traffic. -
In other news it looks like Trudeau is gaining in the polls now. When the election was called I guessed an easy majority for him and he still might get it if he can continue to scare lefty voters from the NDP and Greens. Another minority will be considered a huge failure. He's just as polarizing as his old man. Image really does go a long way with many Canadians.

In a country like Canada, if anyone or any party comes out against high levels of immigration or multiculturalism it will not be well received by most in the media. This is putting it mildly too. People are afraid to even have the discussion for fear of repercussions. Woke is the new religion.

I often have this discussion with one of my coworkers . He says all politicians and political parties are the same. I believe that while all politicians will screw us over, some will screw us more than others. I vote for for the candidate/party that will not screw over the country as much as the others. Not by any stretch of the imagination is the Conservative Party ideal but I know they are by far the lesser of the two evils as opposed to having(God forbid!) an NDP government. Pick the best of the worst.

Did anybody in here try the CBC Vote Compass? Not that I totally trust the results given what's been alleged in the past lol. For the record they pegged me in between the PPC and the CPC. How I rated the party leaders from top to bottom: Bernier,Paul,O'Toole, Singh and Trudeau. This is mainly because I believe Bernier and Paul are genuinely sincere in their beliefs while the rest of the pack are more likely to tell only specific things to specific groups of voters. For instance Justin Trudeau would dare not mention abortion or the LGBTQ stuff in a riding with many Muslim Canadians.

The Jody Wilson-Raybould story is rearing it's head again. It certainly calls Trudeau's character or lack thereof into question. What's not in question is that during this affair Trudeau violated conflict or interest rules again by his actions against Wilson-Raybould. ‘I did not want her to lie’: Trudeau rejects Wilson-Raybould’s claims about SNC-Lavalin talk - National | Globalnews.ca

Is there anyone more woke than Trudeau in Canada? I think not. Trouble is, this mindset is going to get worse and worse in this country as time goes on.

Am I missing something or have none of these guys throwing gravel or using racist insults actually been identified yet? Why doesn't the media dig deeper? Many of them are actually on the government payroll now. Nobody follows these protesters to see what car they get into? We know the media want to see Ottawa born self proclaimed Quebecer at-every-opportunity Justin Trudeau. They went to the ends of the earth to get overly dramatize the robocalls non scandal with Harper. Curious how they can't seem to readily identify these protesters who were in close proximity to all these cameras. -

Just about every time someone says or does something racist they get called out in public. News sites will quickly publish photos and/or audio of the story in question. There are lot's of cameras and cell phones in action around these campaign events, certainly much more so with with the King of Selfies, Justin Trudeau. -

Did the cameras show the identity of the person or persons throwing gravel? -

No doubt these idiots hurling racist insults and/or throwing stuff at politicians will soon be identified as these events are swarming with people all having cameras? -

The behavior of some within the protest groups is pretty bad. Dropping f-bombs and throwing stuff is unacceptable but you call these actions Nazi tactics? Nazis exterminated people, had concentration camps. These kinds of actions are in fact not typical Cons behavior. The behavior of these guys is actually a lot more like leftist mobs. Think antifa or BLM. I hope you have noticed that conservatives have condemned this behavior. -
Most of the major party plans revolve almost entirely around more taxation, the carrot and stick approach without the carrot. They ignore the dismal record of places like China so at the end of the day, what Canada does won't make a difference. Higher immigration levels to Canada will result in more of a carbon footprint. Even as Trudeau seeks to kill the oil and gas sector in Canada the dynamic of which provinces have to carry the financial load will not change. Western provinces and Ontario will always have to shoulder the economic burden for "model" provinces like Quebec. These plans are centered around taxation not innovation. Wind turbines and solar panels. Seriously?

CPAC says the gap is now closing between the Conservatives and Liberals, no surprise there. Watching CPAC it's clear how the political parties all think voters are stupid, more so for the progressive parties. The leftist parties constantly talk about the importance of diversity(skin colour and dozens or hundreds of genders I presume) but they will not tolerate diversity of opinion. All major party candidates tell voters they will be the voice for the constituency but the harsh reality is that they are running in this election to promote the interest's of their party first and foremost. Governments will pay for this and that, few will admit that the taxpayer will bear the full cost when all is said and done.

Democrats tend to claim any election they lose is due to the Republicans cheating in some manner. The 2020 election results raised a lot of suspicions because of the "unusual" way it went down(Biden exceeding Obama's vote count by millions and yet the Dems lose seats in the House). Democrats say it's not possible that this election was rigged. This HBO documentary was made before the 2020 election. Basically they say how easy it was to hack the US election but I guess that vulnerability magically vanished during the 2020 election. Kill Chain: HBO doc's disturbing revelations about election security (fastcompany.com) Biden is President but can anyone honestly say they're happy with his performance to date?

The "assault style" gun ban(emphasis on "style") is another step to Trudeau's ultimate goal of a total gun ban. He and Bill Blair are just fearmongering but a lot of people will fall for it. I'm no gun expert but no fully automatic guns can be bought in Canada. Trudeau is going after semi-automatic guns today and the banned list will of course continue to grow. I did not hear all of the Trudeau/Blair act but I did notice they mention the gun lobby repeatedly but I heard nothing about getting tough on gang shootings.

I have been tuning in to CPAC to see how they are covering this election. My first impressions are that race is extremely important to candidates "of colour" as that seems to be the first thing they mention. The Libs and NDP coverage seems to be more positive than the Conservatives. Greens also get painted in a positive way while the PPC are not. No surprise there. I have also noticed they keep repeating the same footage a lot. I've seen Toronto Centre over and over again already. The usual talking points, diversity, climate change etc. Outside commentary from leftist professors. Not much to see on CPAC. -

If Bernier isn't popular in his home province part of the reason may be his party's policy on equalization payments. Equalization - People's Party of Canada (peoplespartyofcanada.ca) In politics it's extremely rare for anyone to speak the uncomfortable truth. No other leader would dare suggest kicking Quebec and the Atlantic provinces off the perpetual gravy train. -
Why are liberals leaving Justins side in droves...
ironstone replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's interesting that the PPC seems to be ahead of the Greens even when they either get ignored or get negative coverage. The CBC won't mention them by name, they put them as "other". CTV apparently has a daily map showing where the Party leaders are, but not Maxime Bernier. I expect as much from the MSM.
